Legends of Arceus almost going to the S - Rank Pokemon Game Tier for me
Another one of my untiring charades regarding Pokemon games. Because why not?
Today I wanna talk about Pokemon Legends of Arceus and the reasons why it was almost the S - Tier of Pokemon Games with me. Keep in mind that this will have minor spoilers so kindly read this at your own risk.
THE S RANK POINTS
Reason #1 : The exploration
Walking around while chasing those Starters and probably getting the imaginary battle that I had in my head while playing Gen 3 came to life is probably the best scenario.
Reason #2: The catching mechanic and encounters. I finally played the Let's Go Series after Arceus (and of course the Price Drop from those older games were worth it). So far what i had experienced in Let's Go is just throwing balls. But no, Arceus is a good mix of that. Sneaking and hitting them at the back with the Balls and getting a critical capture is probably the best feature Gamefreak did. Like who has time for loading mechanics? Seriously, this is a game changer. It feels more realistic when you get chased by those hostile Alphas or just those Beedrills. The best part about that? you can just continue to run away. Unlike in Sw/Sh or in SV were you a forced on an encounter. And let me just say that seeing that shiny shing whenever you see a shiny pokemon is also a good mechanic.
Reason #3 : The sidequests
Sure this game is a short story but man the sidequests are good with the content. And some of the NPCs are actually pretty fun to talk too. Sidequests can either be funny as to looking for all those pesky bidoofs or doing a 900 korok seed style and catching that Spiritomb. The best part is the pay off, if you managed to get all the sidequests, you can relive your DS Diamond and Pearl Trauma by encountering Arceus in the DP Remakes.
Reason #4: The payoff in doing the pokedex and getting all the entries.
Starting from Generation Six XY. I made a living dex and started completing all the pokedex. Sure it was no easy feat, the only pay off that i get is a certificate and a shiny charm that may or may not get me some shinies depending on how good the RNG gods feel like being generous. But on this game, I did get a payoff: its meeting the Pokemon god itself. This kind of makes it good that the plot just ties after you finish the pokedex. And well as for the entries they can be a tiresome to do but hey they are quite fun to complete and that is when you will get the shiny charm.

S RANK DEDUCTING POINTS
Ok so not all of the games are perfect and this comes with this game. So here is why I think that Arceus almost made an S but got into A rank in my game instead.
Deduction #1: Where is my mini map Gamefreak?
Bruh even year olds game had mini maps on their lower left or lower right. This game promotes exploration and not even a lower map? This is the part that i kind of dislike and it might be just a nitpick. But come on! Dont make me continuously press Y for the map? Oh you will? Well that sucks.
Deduction #2: Fast Travels where?
Muh fast travel posts. I feel like this is not the most often talked mechanic about. Yes the maps aren't that large, but still, I would like to conveniently fast travel on some locations sometimes. Perhaps this is a plot related thing to having little to no travel posts.
--
The conclusion: Pokemon Legends of Arceus is a great game! If you want that exploration with no map or just not that nitpicky, it might be an S Rank for you.

My Problem with Gen 4 Remakes and Some of the Redeeming Values I found
Let me just say that I absolutely love Pokemon. I am aware that a lot of people would refer to me as someone who whines or never gets content with whatever Gamefeak gave us. If you're one of them who are going to reblog this as a genwunner post then I highly suggest you to not waste your time reading this blog. However if you are an open minded and believe that not everything is perfect and is accepting that some games have their flaws, then do carry on. Ok so lets start Problem No. 1 The way the Protagonist walks.
Ok so walking on a 2d game should be a no- brainer. Right? Apparently not in the case of BDSP. I don't even know what ILCA was thinking (or in this case not thinking to test it out) when they make your character suddenly get magnetized or worse, making your character automatically jump on a ledge. Specially that, it is my biggest peeve when it came to trying to go up for the Cyrus Mt. Coronet mission (see below).
Problem No 2. Pokemon Following You
I know this is not a feature in the remakes but Heart Gold and Soul Silver managed to do it but this is just a pain to look at. Seriously, the weirdly proportionate look at your Partner Pokemon or the fact that they can get stuck too like your character. Oh and not to mention, why is there a need to put back your Pokemon whenever some NPC initiates you for a battle? Why did they not just made it like HGSS remakes, wherein your character just points out to your leading Pokemon when its out of the pokeball but nope. Alright Empoleon, go back to the pokeball then I'll throw you out again.
Problem No 3. The GTS and Other Online Features
Seriously? It seems that this remake took one step forward and two steps back when it comes to progress and improvements. I can't believe it took them a few months before the GTS became usable after the release. Don't even get me started on those online battle features. It should have been a few days after the release. Not Months.
Problem No 4. The Content
I still don't get why we did not receive a 3rd version treatment for this game? This is somewhat predicted since they did it with ORAS, but it couldn't hurt. Also the fact that you can only get Arceus if you finished all the quests on Legends of Arceus Game.
I think that sums up about how I feel about Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. I'm not a big fan of the chibi appearance of your Avatar but its not a problem for me.
So now we move on to the good sides.
Good Stuff No. 1 The Mythicals
Hello to the kids who used Action Replay back in the Early 2006ish wondering what the Azure Flute does. Are you ready to face your trauma of fighting the overpowered Arceus? Well then get ready because we now have a legal way to actually access the Spear Pillar!
Good Stuff No. 2 The Gym Leader and Elite 4 AI
Honestly I don't know if I was just a dumb kid back when I played DP. But boy do the AIs actually make good decisions and they actually counter your attack. So yes instead of spamming surf you actually had to think just a little. I'm impressed with this one.
-----
Overall my thoughts on this game is that for $60, this is a very expensive price for a barely tested mediocre remake. Personally I would say that ILCA did a bad job on making the remakes. Which is kind of sad on my part since I was hoping for a Gen 8 treatment for this game when it comes to avatar but instead we got a copy and paste but with bad walking styles.

From my private meme collection. Since I also work as an editor I often have to remind myself there aren’t actually any rules in writing. I’m happiest when I let myself follow my obsessions, my interests, my fancies and caprices–even if that means it doesn’t “make sense,” or the results are weird, or I never finish it, or no one ever wants to read it or publish it, or it’s 5 words long, or it’s written on toilet paper, or whatever. Sharing for whoever needs to hear this today <3

I have returned?
So uh I think the last time I started having activity was like three years ago? Anyway, I did not mean to ghost people here. Also hello to my 11 followers! Perhaps soon I shall make a non controversial opinion of the video games I have played. Stay tuned? I guess?

The Flaws and Redeeming Quality of Sword and Shield
As someone who has played Pokémon since the 3rd generation up to Gen 7, this latest installment has got to be the worst entry. I gotta admit, I was a bit turned off when they announced the Dex Cut. It took me two months of trying to accept that some of my old Pokémon might be forever stuck in my Ultra Sun. But by the end of January, I finally stood up and took a chance. Two months of playing, I can't help but notice the flaws a lot, and it always bugs me to the point that I went
"The more I play this game. The more I realize how rushed this game was and that Gamefreak didn't even put a single thought in some of its features".
With that in mind, I will now give my reasons why I think this game was rushed and its many flaws.
Story
To think I used to be hype of this game, but it turns out, it barely had any story. The game can be finished in less than 20 hours. I know SM/USUM was infamous for the 20 minute tutorial (which I also hated) but this... this takes the cake for being below the bare minimum. Like, the Lore doesn't even expand. Its just that you are thrusted into boring gym battles and then suddenly they try to ripoff Black and White Plot but failed to do so. Don't even get me started on the DLC.
Raid NPCs
Raids are actually one of the good things I like on this gen however, raid NPCs are not. Do I even need to elaborate on how incompetent your raid partners are (especially that Solrock). You won't be able to even win a raid if you don't have a good pokemon or if you don't have an online subscription.
Skip Movie Option
Hahahah. This option is as legit as the Mew under the truck in Red and Blue.... Basically a joke. I don't even wanna say how many hours I had wasted trying to soft reset for an Eternatus. Mainly because I don't wanna waste a mint on it.
Obtaining the Flame Orb
This has got to be the first obnoxious thing. Look buddy, I don't want to be a slave to rng trying to get a battle item when in previous generation I could easily just made my way to the battle tower to save some Battle Points to buy a Flame Orb. Ball guy just kept giving me 100 pokeballs. Like ok.
The (Lack) of GTS
This refers to two things. First is the lack of GTS on the main game (when the other online features are locked behind a paywall). Second is Pokemon Home. Lets face it, not everyone's smart phone is compatible with Pokemon Home. To add insult to injury, the filters were reduced, from having the option to look for Pokemon that you can easily trade because the Pokemon they are looking for is already in your box. Reminder, this was already an option back in the previous generation.... and speaking of
Pokémon Home
Everyone is gonna berate me and tell me that "You don't need to pay $15, stop whining about it!". Uh no, I actually have a whole year sub. The point is, the premium features on this app sucks. This app is so buggy too. They could've added the GTS option on the switch version but no, half of its features are locked in mobile.
Link Trading
You are given a keyboard to type a code. What are the chances of having the same code with the person you want to trade with but didn't matched? Well in my experience, the code trading doesnt always work, I sometimes get paired with a different user, which can be really annoying.
The Redeeming Quality
I'm gonna outright say that breeding Pokemon and making them into battle ready is quite fast paced. Which is good.
Conclusion
Overall, if you have been following the franchise, SwSh is definately not recommended. You won't miss much aside from the fast paced breeding. Gamefreak really milked this franchise too hard.

This ended up being a sketch comic, oops.
This is how everything goes down in the canon of the GrimaDad AU. I hope it also conveys just how not serious the overall tone is.
