Who wouldn't want to run with the wolves? They are wild and free and still they have stronger bonds of family than many humans.

Piper shrugged one shoulder in response. "I like being outside." It was better than being couped up in the walls of the castle all the time. It made her feel like she was going crazy if she didn't spend at least a little bit of time around the forest.
Outside II Piper + Alicia
Alicia breathed a sigh of relief when she saw it was just another girl. “It’s okay,” she said, clutching her mug harder as if it was a personal heater and not a drink. “I didn’t realize anybody else would be out.”

Outside, by the edge of the forest, Piper was able to pretend she was still at home, even if only for a little while. Although she was confident in her skills in the forest, unafraid of the many creatures within the trees, she knew better than to go too far in. Teachers might think she was meeting her pack or causing trouble. And even though she wanted to see her brothers more than anything, she wasn't going to invite them to travel through the forest they called home just to see her. Better, safer, they stayed in their clearing.
Since Piper wasn't trying to be sneaky or scare anyone she purposely trod harder on the ground. As someone who knew how to hunt, she could walk silently if necessary, but it could scare someone.
Despite her best efforts to be open about her actions, she still heard a voice calling out. "I'm here." She replied after a second, debating whether she should just slink away. Piper walked towards the voice, her face neutral. She wasn't good at making friends until she knew their opinion on werewolves. "Sorry." She apologised for scaring the other girl.
Outside II Piper + Alicia
Alicia trudged through the snow, away from the castle clutching her hot mug of coffee as if her life depended on it. It was the only thing keeping her hands warm since she lost her only pair of gloves.
She heard a twig snap behind her, turning around to face whatever was behind her she debated pulling out her knife. She didn’t want to risk another student seeing it though. Or worse, a professor.
"Hello? Is anybody there?"

Piper snorted quietly at the idea of a wizard willingly going into a goblin settlement, or knowingly camping next to her pack. It would be rare. "I don't mind the eyes, so much." She thought eye contact was less rude than other things, since the pack always stared at each other so blatantly. What she didn't say is that she didn't like the mutters and whispers that were just loud enough to hear behind her wherever she went.
"Yeah, we get wolfsbane." She wrinkled her nose a little. It was something that she thought necessary, but the brewing of it wasn't her favourite thing - and it tasted disgusting. But she was used to that. One of the members in her pack, Amir, was quite a talented wizard and knew how to brew it. The ingredients were expensive, but with the little bits of money they could scrounge up, they bought it. It was their survival after all. "It's hard. Especially since I was never taught anything about potions before." Amir had only taught her and her brothers the most basic information they needed - potions had not been required, not with him able to make it for them all.
Preferring to insult wizards than discuss her failings, Piper's lips curved into a slight smirk. "People never want to recognise where they screwed up. It's easier for them to hate us than themselves."

Piper's Pack: Quick Rundown
Piper's pack lives in the Black Forest, on the outskirts well away from Hogwarts. They live at peace with the other inhabitants of the forest, particularly the centaurs, because they stay away from them. There's an unofficial treaty where they have nothing to do with each other.
The pack primarily lives outside, camping, but they do have a small, two bedroom cabin to stay in if the weather is too bad or if anyone is sick.
For food, they hunt normal animals (deer, rabbits, etc), all of them well versed in setting snares and traps, and how to clean and dress their meals. Everyone contributes to the hunting, cooking and cleaning, no matter how young they are. They also make sure they provide food for the werewolves that are born as a result of two wolfs mating during the full moon, caring for them as though they are part of the pack (there are three currently living with the rest of the pack). They try not to interact with other people, but sometimes campers come stay nearby. After Piper got bitten, it became a rule that they don't have anything to do with campers.
Once a month, Xander or Spencer (and anyone else who is bored) drives into London to pick up extra supplies, fill the 4WD up (it only gets driven at this time) and buy clothes for them. This money comes from Xander's inheritance and Spencer's writings.
At the full moon, Piper (as the only woman) is given the cabin to stay in, and the rest get as far away from each other as possible.
Under the cut is a quick rundown of the members in the pack, from eldest to youngest. I've included headcanons on who their fcs would be.
Spencer Riordan (FC: Mark Ruffalo) - The eldest of the pack, considered to be a leader. Piper is close to him.
Alexander Jackson (FC: Jason Momoa) - Xander is another leader, although more of a cheerful one.
Christian Mayer (FC: Sinqua Walls) - Chris is the newest member of the pack, but he's been helping a lot with relations to the outside world which makes him well respected in the pack.
Amir Kanaan (FC: Rami Malek) - Jokester, smart, helps the youngest learn basic things that humans need to know.
Shane Carmody (FC: Kit Harington) - A trouble maker within the pack, one of the more aggressive ones. Taught Piper how to fight.
Ashton Clark (FC: Zach Roerig) - Quiet and sweet, the peacekeeper of the lot.
Oliver Paolini (FC: Luke Pasqualino) - Piper is close to him, although he got really upset at her going to Hogwarts. He hates wizards.
Piper - the only girl and therefore beloved by all of them.
Jacob Erskine (FC: Diego Boneta) - Piper's best friend, and a mischief maker within the pack.
Dean Abel (FC: Aramis Knight) - Only with the pack for a year, he's still a little shy around them.
Jonathon Newcombe (FC: Jared S. Gilmore) - The baby of the pack, has so many big ideas.
The wolves:
The three wolves are called Godric, Saphira and Romulus. They are not pets, but are considered part of the family. Xander's uncle, who was a werewolf, fathered Godric during the full moon. They don't know where the other two came from, but that doesn't matter.

First Hogwarts Express Journey || Prompt-response drabble
Piper was nervous.
She felt like one of the small eleven year olds who were boarding the train, their fear and apprehension apparent on their faces. But unlike them, she stood out. Or she felt like she did, anyway. Spencer and Xander were standing behind her, Xander carrying her small bag of belongings and Spencer steering her with his hand on her shoulder, giving her instructions.
Note: Cut for length
"Don't lose your temper, Piper. You're better than that. Don't let them get to you."
"Oh shut up Spence, she can take care of herself. Can't you, darling?" Xander interrupted and punched her lightly in the shoulder to make her smile.
"'Course I can. I can take you, can't I, darling?" She turned her head to give him a mocking smile, but that smile fell when she saw a man pull his son away to stop him from running into the path of the three of them.
"Alright, give her the bag." Spencer wasn't big on physical affection, so he brushed his hand over her hair lightly. "If you do need us, send us an owl -"
"We won't eat it, promise." Piper snorted in laughter.
"-And we'll come get you straight away. No questions asked."
Xander dropped the bag next to Piper and picked her up in a bear hug, and she squeezed back. She'd already said goodbye to the rest of the pack, but the oldest two had insisted on dropping her off.
"Be strong, love." Xander whispered in her ear before putting her back down. He wore his heart on the sleeve, as Piper knew, and was worried about letting his little sister be away from the pack.
"Always am." Piper nodded, collecting her emotions so no one would realise how worried she was, and picked up her bag. "Be good, boys." She boarded the train, fortunate to find an empty compartment. Once she settled, she looked out the window and let herself smile one last time at her oldest brothers. No reason to worry them, after all.
Piper took a deep breath as the train started to move. She planned to wave to Xander and Spencer as the train left the station but was distracted by the door opening. She turned to see two boys and a girl, all different ages. One boy seemed to be her age. Wary but determined to make the best of this experience, Piper offered them a small smile.
"Hi. I'm Piper."
"You're new." It wasn't a question, but a statement so Piper nodded. The sneer on his face as he shifted to protect the people with him from her view hurt Piper deeply. "What are you?"
"Werewolf." She said it softly, watching as they flinched. "Don't worry, I don't bite."
It hurt to watch as the eldest shoved the others out of the compartment. It hurt to see him shake his head at another student passing by and point at her.
She said in silence, frozen in place, with her eyes watching people pass by. Perhaps an hour had passed before someone dared to open the door again.
"You the werewolf?" Piper hesitated before nodding at the girls question. She wasn't ashamed of who she is. "You'd think we weren't wanted here, the way they act." The girl quipped as she sat down opposite Piper. Piper's lips curved slightly, the only sign that she was amused by that. It hurt too much to make much of a joke out of it after all.
Piper didn't want to be rude and ask what the other girl was, so they both fell silent. But this time, Piper could relax enough to stare out the window. The rest of the trip was uneventful, but Piper was grateful for the company - even if they didn't talk. As they left the train, they stuck together, right up until they got into the Great Hall.

Piper shrugged at the mention of NEWTs. "It's all hard work." She wasn't used to school, so it had to be more difficult for those who had studied as soon as they were eleven. "I'm not worrying too much about it." It didn't affect her life the way it did wizards.
The Courtyard
"Sixth." Claire was a little surprised she hadn’t seen Piper around before but she supposed she didn’t share any classes with the 7th years and hardly ever saw any 7th years from other houses. They seemed to spend a lot of time working. "You must have a lot of work to do with your N.E.W.Ts coming up, I’m dreading it."

Piper turned and gave a shy smile to the girl. "Piper, werewolf." It was easier to talk to people who were non-wizards like her. They didn't seem as threatening. "Have you got any ideas at all?"

Piper's Pack: Becoming Part of the Pack
When she was seven, Piper's parents took her on a camping trip. They'd lived in London, and thought it'd be nice to get a change of scenery. At the campground, there was another 'family' there, and Piper had quickly become friends with a boy the same age as her - Jacob. That week, there'd been a full moon, and she'd snuck out to find her new best friend. What she didn't realise was that he was a werewolf. She found him just before he changed, and she was so worried that he was in pain she didn't even think of running.
Jacob bit her.
Piper and Jacob, now, like to say his werewolf form left her alive because he knew she was meant to be family. But the morning after, when Spencer found her with bite marks, it hadn't been a time for joking. Still in pain from the change, and furious he'd made the mistake of letting Jacob be near humans, Spencer carried her back to her parents tents.
At first, her parents had been furious as well, and terrified. They were both purebloods (not of famous bloodlines) who had heard horror stories of werewolves their entire lives.
And they knew what suffering their sweet, innocent daughter was going to go through.
Seeing their fear and concern, Spencer offered to adopt Piper. At first her parents were reluctant, but he talked them into it. She could be better cared for by people who knew what she was going through, she'd never face persecution from her own people. She'd be as safe as possible.
Piper returned home to London for two weeks, just enough time for her belongings to be packed up and the situation explained to her. She didn't really understand at first, she thought her parents didn't love her anymore. But hearing she could see Jacob again made her happy.
It only took until the day after the full moon for Piper to like the rest of the pack. It took a year until she considered them family, and another two until she realised her parents had loved her enough to give her the best chance of survival.
It helps that her parents write to her, even now, every year on her birthday.

Time to work your matchmaking magic! Who do you think looks good with who out of all the students?
Scorpius and me.. no? Well how about him and Claire? Two Slytherin Blondes, good match no? Except she’d be bossing him around all the time. He might suit Korey better, she’s so sweet but can you imagine a Malfoy marrying into a family that’s not in the sacred 28? I suppose at least she’s a pureblood.
How about Piper and Grayson? The werewolf and the werewolf lover? Plus they’re both uber hot.

Here Wolf || OPEN
"Here girl. Here wolfy wolfy wolfy."
"Come on girl. Come here."
Piper ground her teeth together as a group of Hogwarts students whistled to her, patting their thighs as though she were a common dog. She'd been talking to another non-wizarding student about her pack when the students had overheard her and started to tease her. The person with her had quickly escaped, not wanting to be drawn into it, but Piper had frozen in anger.
"Come on doggy."
At that, she let out an actual growl, a sound which surprised her. Perhaps her pack was more wolf than human, but they'd never seriously growled at someone before. Well, she hadn't. That was more Jacob's style. But even the thought of her best friend couldn't make Piper feel better as one student let out another whistle.
"I'm not a dog!" The four words burst out of her in sharp shout.
She knew that attacking the students the way she wanted to would get her in trouble - even expelled, maybe. But Piper couldn't seem to make herself walk away, so she stared at the group who wouldn't stop laughing at her. It hurt, deeply, that they didn't think of her as more than a common animal. Just a dumb dog. It made her want to shake them so hard their teeth rattled. It made her want to run and hide, to be sheltered from this hatred. Anger, she could deal with. Anger was ignorance. Mockery hurt so much more.

"Seventh." Piper wasn't one to bother with niceties such as 'its nice to meet you'. She just went on and answered the question and replied with her own. "You?" She hadn't seen Claire in any of her classes, but that wasn't a surprise. Piper was only allowed in a limited number of classes. And it wasn't like she was exactly a big scholar anyway.
The Courtyard
Claire smiled back at the girl. She wondered what house she belonged to, she hadn’t seen her around but thought not to ask, she’d then have to reveal she herself was a Slytherin and sometimes people didn’t like that, the treated her like she was cruel - and even though she sometimes was she preferred people to like her. “Claire.” She shook the other girl’s hand. “What year are you in?”

Piper just smiled at her in response. No, she didn't have family here. Family was the pack. "Thank you. And it's fine, no need to apologise. It was for the best." She held out her hand the way she'd been taught she was supposed to when meeting people. "I'm Piper." It was nice of the girl to be kind to her, Piper decided. Maybe not everyone at Hogwarts would hate her for being a werewolf.
The Courtyard
They couldn’t handle her? Exactly how naughty was she as a child that her parents had decided to give her away? Unless she meant she had strong magical abilities as a child and couldn’t control them at such a young age. Claire hoped for the latter she knew it was important to get to know powerful people. “I see.” She said curtly unsure where to take the conversation. “Well I’m sorry to hear that. At least you have a family in Hogwarts.”

Piper continued to study the goblin as she waited for a response to her apology. It was interesting to her that she could see the exact second the girl became worried by her. Because of that, Piper shifted into a more comfortable position, one that didn't seem so much like she was stalking prey. "It's fine. Do they really stare so much?" She returned the smile, although hers was quite bitter. Why could humans stare and it be fine, when she got into trouble for it?
She nodded when their shared dorm was mentioned, not bothering to agree aloud. Why waste the words when it was obvious? "You're not naïve. My pack and I don't bite, even on the full moon. We stay away from people so they don't get hurt." No one ever believed that pack of werewolves living and hunting in the woods could be so non-violent. But it was true. They only hunted animals like rabbits or things that weren't sentient.
Gesturing to the ground as an indication that she should sit, Piper spoke again. It was easier to talk to someone who wasn't likely to hate her for being different. "It's humans who say we're dangerous most. They say the same about you. But never that they can be dangerous."
Piper had already forgotten how she'd been approached. "I'm Piper." She added, determined to try make one friend who wasn't a wolf like her.
