I’m still tweaking it, but something the Visible app has hammered home these past few weeks is just how much energy my body expends existing.

Currently lying perfectly still and I’m in the ‘exertion zone’ because I’m in so much nerve pain it's making my heart rate elevate.

Being in pain is burning up my pace points. I’ve used two since I woke up this morning simply by being conscious.

Anyone who dismisses the effects of chronic pain on the body or tells you to exercise to push through it is formally invited to throw themselves into the sun.

I wish they could invent a medical device that temporarily transfers your symptoms and pain to the doctor treating you and it worked like a shock collar. “I think light exercise would-.” and then bam they’re rolling around the floor clutching their stomach in agony and dry heaving.

i think we should talk about degendering more as a very real form of transphobia. you should not be calling a trans woman "they" when she's explained her pronouns to you. you should not be calling her a "person" instead of a woman. she's not too gnc, she's not too androgynous, you're not "confused" about her identity, you're degendering her. I fear we've gotten to a point we've forgotten the very basics of this movement is "trans women are women" and "trans men are men", and not just "trans people are someone who's pronouns you have to memorize so you don't offend them." you see her as a man in a dress and it pisses me off

now feels like a good time to reiterate that Iranians have been martyred by america + israel already, both empires that possess nuclear weapons, and that Iran does not have nuclear weapons. so now is not the time to joke about america getting nuked-- any retaliation on Iran's part is justified and the only way we escape this situation, but Iran is not going to nuke us, because the entire premise that Iran has nukes is how america justified bombing them and also the exact same rhetoric we used against Iraq and how we killed my countrysmen when there was again no evidence of nuclear warfare. all the trans bathroom bans have this awful tendency to push the overton window of even trans advocacy by trans people to the right

so many trans people now are focused on pleading to let trans women use women's restrooms and to let trans men use men's restrooms that I feel like the demand that was much more prominent even 5 years ago to construct non-segregated accessible bathrooms for everyone is almost nonexistent

really not sure when it happened or why but personally I'm pissed that the queer community at large seems to have given up ground on the "people with penises/vulvas/testes/ovaries" language to sex & gender essentialists in exchange for the much less precise, much more demeaning "AGAB" language.

is it because you're scared of the word vulva? of acknowledging out loud that some people have penises? of recognising that many many people, including but certainly not limited to trans people, have mixed sex characteristics that cannot be accurately summarised by "afab/amab" as shorthand for "female/male"?

"in [GENITAL RELATED] situation AFABs will need to do X and AMABs will need to do Y" there are "afabs" with penises and "amabs" with vulvas. Saying this shit makes you look so unserious & honestly transphobic (given the ongoing erasure of post-op trans people within broader community). Intersex people and GRS have both existed for long enough (fucking forever and, decades, respectively) that we should well past making this basic fucking mistake.

quit referring to people by a vague & often violent event that happened at their birth as though it defines ANYTHING about how they & their body currently operate, and start using precise language so you at least look like you know what you're fucking talking about.

This morning's Anon hate mail called me both a girl and a faggot in the same breath, which is a pretty clear example that ideological consistency is not important to these people, only sending a message that both women and queer folks of all genders are unwelcome.

I don't really waste my time dunking on "accidentally affirming" hate mail (I'm not going to celebrate being called a faggot in this context), or, in a similar vein, pointing out logical fallacies in those who say "pronouns are recent". (I see so many allies get mired in mocking transphobes for "not understanding grammar," so I'm going to talk about that alongside this piece of hate mail.)

They don't care.

Y'all gotta understand that transphobes aren't attempting to meet you where you are with your understanding of gender theory and the rules of grammar -- they are just scattershotting hate and broadcasting that trans people are unwanted. (And they usually also reveal quickly who else they hate.)

Of course they know what pronouns are. Of course I am nearly 50 and it's absurd to label me as a child. And of course they wouldn't actually think of me as a gay man. (And there's no point in correcting them that I am a bi man.)

They loathe me as an openly trans man, and they have also made it clear there is no way I can "fix" myself into an acceptable woman, especially given that no woman is acceptably equal in their eyes (the use of "girl" to insult me). They just want to tell me they hate me in any form.

I'm only mentioning it here because I don't like seeing other folks trying to engage with this kind of hate on the grounds that it is "illogical" or internally inconsistent. Since when has this kind of bigotry ever been rational.

We're also speaking 2 different languages. When they say things like, "no one ever used pronouns before," they are not referring to grammar. They are talking about pronouns listed in bios and email signatures. They are talking about individuals using they/them and neopronouns. They are talking about visibly queer people.

When they call me a girl as an insult instead of a woman, they are infantalizing me, taking away my agency and further sending a message that women and girls need the controlling influence of men.

And when they call me a faggot, they are merely grasping for a slur that still is loaded with the promise of violence.

It's all just another type of dog whistle and I'm tired of this type of hate being engaged with on "logic" grounds, especially in a dunk. You are missing most of the message and how this kind of hate goes beyond just me, some random trans guy on the internet. You can't counter this with smugness.

My Anon hate will get deleted with a block, and I'll vent about it in a way that tries not to engage with the actual logical inconsistency. No good faith for bad actors.

But reminder that, while this stuff doesn't hurt me much psychologically anymore, to be spit upon regularly is still disgusting to go through. Also, this attitude is deeply rooted in the current regime, so there is actual legislative power behind those hateful words now, no matter how well I can emotionally shrug them off.

All I can do as a queer person is to persist and not be intimidated, and encourage cishet folks to knock it off with sassy clapbacks and instead say and prove in no uncertain terms that this kind of hate is unwanted.

(09.06.2024) There’s a Tunisian led aid convoy is heading towards Rafah in an effort to deliver aid to Gaza and break the siege.

Tunisia’s Somoud convoy holds around 7,000 volunteers including diplomats, doctors, lawyers etc.

As they are not from the west they will not have the same media attention on them and they will probably face the same issues as the Madleen did.

So it is important that we keep our eyes on them and others who aim to do the same.

Just like the Madleen these are all civilians aboard an aid ship with no weapons and interfering with these ships is a violation of international law.
