Everyone, thank you for watching episode 26!

Daiji and Kagerou’s head-to-head showdown, with my big brother and Karizaki-san watching over us.

Reading the script I thought, “At last, the time has come”. Having an episode centered on Daiji and Kagerou, I knew that I should deliver things properly and it made me nervous.

It was also my first time working together with the maestro Director Ishida. We discussed a lot about performing Kagerou’s part and firmed up the preparations for acting. After receiving a number of pep talks, we proceeded to film Daiji and Kagerou’s confrontation.

I really struggled with the re-recording.

You see——— it was so hard!!!

The voices used when I’m attacking and getting attacked had 4 different patterns each. Showcasing the sentiments of both Daiji and Kagerou was truly crucial. Doing them made me feel like I’m about to cry (lol).

As you might’ve been questioning, this week’s Evil was acted by… none other than Nawata Yuya!

I was wondering who would be Evil’s suit actor, and it turns out to be Nawata-san. On the action’s filming day, we talked about various things together with Live’s suit actor Nakata-san. The action scenes were fantastic. Taking over from there, I gave my all doing the re-recording.

Kagerou gave one last lesson to Daiji; relying on kindness alone won’t get you anywhere. Upon clashing with each other, he finally left for good.

Kagerou might have vanished, but he will always be in Daiji’s heart.

On the next 27th episode, still regarding Kagerou in his chest, carrying both cruelty and kindness is our persisting Daiji.

Hyuga Wataru FAST Interview 2021/11/02

Never obtained first place. Everything’s undoubtedly to win this match.

It was hard to guess his age given his mature demeanor. But the face that emerges as he put his words together was that of an innocent one— there hides the power to mesmerize others. This boy who did not expect himself diving into the entertainment scene indeed resembled a normal high schooler.

How did you get affiliated with your agency?

Without my acknowledgement, my family applied for an audition the office held. My resume passed the papers review. Suddenly, I was told, “The interview’s up next, you should go.” I was in my third year of middle school preparing for high school entrance exams. That day I’m supposed to have a summer course at my cram school, but I was allowed to take a day off (laughs). I gladly accepted and auditioned. Following the second screening, the number of contestants narrowed down. It was then that I started to have an interest in showbiz. Eventually, I won the audition and entered the agency.

What was on your mind, upon witnessing an unexpected opportunity to walk into the industry?

I’ve never given the “entertainment industry” a thought, but maybe there is a chance for me to be part of this world…! I started to think so and neglected my studies (laughs). It took 2-3 months until the final results came out, and ultimately I became the victor.

It’s admirable how you managed to secure first place.

This entire time, I had never obtained anything of first place. From elementary through middle school, they had award ceremonies at morning assemblies, right? I was envious of those who had their names called. It’s frustrating how I never got bestowed an award or two. But things took a turn and I won that audition. It feels like all the time when I had no recognition whatnot finally paid.

As you’re also an active high schooler, balancing between school and work must’ve been hectic.

Filming for episodes 1 and 2 were taken without a break. Scenes with only Vice, Revi, and Daiji made me lonely because there were only the two suit actors and me, so Ken-chan (Maeda Kentaro) came to watch over us (laughs). I had the opportunity to transform since episode 5 or 6. While the suit actor takes on the action sequences, I get to have a little bit of rest. Still, as the both of us share the same body and soul, I’m always observing whenever he’s up.

How do you spend your invaluable holidays?

I can no longer do anything. Sometimes I do want to go somewhere, but going outside itself is tiring and I don’t have the energy for that. I want to rest now that I’ve got no work, which is why I always end up staying at home. My holiday in a nutshell would be sleeping through the morning then waking up in the evening. I’d play games, eat dinner, and before I knew it the day had ended (laughs).

You were very composed at answering this interview, nobody would’ve thought you’re only 17. What do you think of your own personality?

I love talking to people. I also think I’m full of curiosity. I’m the type who gets all eager and goes “I wanna do it! Let me try it!” at something to my interests. On the other hand I’d say no to anything I hate (laughs). Something that I’ve always been interested in and actually started out would be the guitar. It’s a hobby that I’ve done for the longest time.

Is there anything you’d like to try out in the future?

I’d like to learn how to play the keyboard. My fellow guitarist Ken-chan also does the keyboard, so now I’m interested. I’ve always been keen on singing, too. Ah, I don’t sing in front of people (laughs). I love singing for myself, to vent out all the stress. Some might think, “Could there be any chances for him to start as a singer?” after what I said. But it’s not like I aim to be a singer, I just simply love to sing! (laughs).

We believe you’re quite busy, but it does seem like you’re improving well as an actor. What kind of actor do you aspire to be?

I want to be someone long-standing. I will gather skills and experiences from all the various works I’m involved in, and I'd love to keep on continuing even if I turn 50 or 60.

As the story of “Revice” develops more and more, you can’t help but be absorbed..

The Deadmans are falling out?! Even if they’re my enemies, it still tightens my chest.

However…

This is how we are behind the scenes!!

We fight each other when the camera rolls, but they’re actually nice kids 😌

And at last, we attempted to storm into the Deadmans’ hideout.

Karizaki-san. Impressive as always.

In order to infiltrate the hideout, the Igarashi siblings decided to call Kagerou in,,

Wait…!! Ikki!! Sakura!! While giving a rider kick to Daiji would be needed, no matter what you think about it, he’s pitiful!!! (LMAO)

It must’ve been scary, right, Daiji? *bitter smile*

Hey, Ikki. Stamping finish! Haaaaaa! My butt!!! That’s terrible!!! Sakura was also looking so excited!!!

But this was all done to locate the Deadmans’ hideout… Forgive us, Daiji… (cri)

Aside from the adorable scenes between the Igarashi siblings, their simultaneous henshin and triple rider kick were absolutely thrilling.

After infiltrating the base, we had another encounter with the Chameleon Deadman.

To avenge for Commander Wakabayashi, I will not lose to his greatest enemy. With those feelings burning inside me, I transformed. I won’t let that familiar face be used as they please.

Changing the subject into the previous 14th episode, Hiromi truly admired Commander Wakabayashi.

The Commander who didn’t talk much, but could still tell things through his back.

In the flashback scene, there was this depiction. Upon failing one of his duties, Hiromi was in great shock to the point where he couldn’t bring himself to eat. During that time, the Commander cared for him by giving him a piece of bread— albeit awkwardly.

The times Hiromi spent together with Commander Wakabayashi remain precious to him. It was thanks to the Commander that Hiromi became the person he is right now.

For every single appearances, faces, thoughts, and words of the Commander would continue to live inside Hiromi.

And so, here I am appearing before you…

Here we go again…

But this time things were pretty intense, even Demons’ body received quite the impact.

What in the world does this mean…? And yet Hiromi said, “I won’t give up, I’ll push myself through my limits.” Just how will everything unfold—!!!

There are still a lot of stuff I wanna talk about, but let’s save the fun for later! 😏 lol

I’m in charge of today’s cast blog. Portraying as Igarashi Sakura/Kamen Rider Jeanne, Imoto Ayaka, at your service… 😶

To think that the day when I’m able to write “Kamen Rider Jeanne” has come… (lol)

What a weird sensation 😂

Before looking back on today... Please let me write a little about the previous Sakura-centered episodes! 🙇🏼‍♀️

Everyone, how was it?

Director Sugihara said he wanted Sakura to show them all, “Sakura putting up a bold front”, “Sakura hitting the depths of despair��, “Sakura breaking free upon accepting her own weaknesses”. I was told to showcase her many different expressions.

Scenes that mostly relied on me went through a lot of retakes. The director would come approach me to give advice. Filming really took time.

The biggest climax for me was at the dojo, when Sakura acknowledged her own weaknesses. I let out all of her pent-up emotions, and made everyone see the Sakura not even her family knows of.

Realize your lack of power, break your own shell, and accept everything.

“The me who has accepted my own weaknesses is invincible!”

I’ve always longed to be invincible since I was a child, and now I’ve truly become invincible.

The last scene on episode 12 wasn’t in the script. The director wanted to end it with Sakura’s smile, so it was an extra cut 😌

Personally, I love that scene ✨ Smiling is the best 😊

I Wish to Convey These Deep Feelings My Character Clutches Onto— Beyond Anyone's Imagination

Every little boy once dreamt of becoming a Kamen Rider. Among them who successfully realizes the dream was Hyuga Wataru, actor of Igarashi Daiji on Kamen Rider Revice.

Heroes who have something to protect are strong and firm. However, as likely as not, hidden within their chests lies whimpers also owned by anyone else.

How does the world unfold before Daiji’s eyes?

To be able to make an appearance on the work celebrating Kamen Rider’s 50th anniversary, how did you feel?

When I participated in the audition, I could faintly feel the pressure since a 50th anniversary would be quite significant. Regardless, I definitely wanted to win the role. Back on April the 3rd, a lot of past Kamen Riders were celebrating on social media 50 years since the first Kamen Rider series’ broadcast. Seeing them made me much more nervous.

As a commemorative work, this show would undoubtedly have high expectations and popularity. Again, I felt pressure and also joy upon being part of this cast. Being in the middle of filming doesn’t stop me from eagerly anticipating what’s to come.

During the audition, you must’ve put your heart and soul into it. How did you feel about taking up the challenge?

The goal I set for myself shortly after entering my agency was “Kamen Rider”. After all, it does have the image of being a breakthrough gateway for young actors. I’ve watched many tokusatsu shows since my childhood days, and I really loved Kamen Rider. I watched Den-O up until Fourze back when it aired, but it wasn’t until the third year of middle school that my Kamen Rider fever reignited (laughs). Then, I managed to watch all the works I haven’t seen from Fourze onwards.

What’s your favorite Kamen Rider?

My favorite is Den-O. It contains a lot of comedy, and I really liked how despite the rider w as originated from multiple characters, the protagonist transformed into each one of those multiple personalities instead of getting all of them transform at once.

Revice and Den-O both have a few things in common, especially with the comedic elements and a person altering into a different identity. Like, isn’t it common to turn serious scenes even more serious? And while that’s happening, jolly characters like the Imagins on Den-O or Vice on Revice would appear— unaware of the situation. That aside, I don’t consider them as the bad guys. I believe the appearance of those characters you can’t bring to hate is strongly connected to the important scenes in the series.

The Igarashi Daiji you’re portraying in this show, what kind of person is he?

When I took my first read on the offer, it said, “The protagonist makes a contract with a devil”, which made me think, “So Ikki has a double personality, huh?” But then I was told, “The one who has a double personality is Daiji”... Like, huh, that’s me!! I continued reading and finally understood the whole thing.

Firstly, please allow me to explain myself over something (laughs). Following the broadcast of the first episode, impressions and reactions were flowing on social media. Apparently, a lot of people said, “Seems like Daiji’s about to fall into the darkness..!”

To make things clear, it isn’t “to fall into darkness”, but instead, “There’s evil lurking inside Daiji”. It’s not like Daiji’s joining the bad guys just because a devil is taking over him, though. The evil inside him was born from small yet bitter feelings— such as envy and inferiority— towards his big brother, Ikki (Maeda Kentaro).

Truthfully, however, Daiji genuinely loves Ikki.

What kind of character is the devil, Kagerou?

On one hand; Vice is fun, cheery, and rather virtuous for a devil. Incomparably, Daiji’s Kagerou is a total rascal. Daiji’s own conviction was full of inferiority as well as other complexes, making Kagerou even more of a dangerous guy.

He’s the polar opposite of the original Daiji, making it hard to play him. I’m honestly perplexed. There are times when he has the appearance of Daiji, but is actually Kagerou on the inside. Hence, it’s not two roles that I hold, but rather, three. Although, if you only see him from the outside, then I guess you can’t help thinking he has really fallen for the darkness.

How did you feel when you knew your first henshin wasn’t as Daiji, but the evil Kagerou instead?

I was worried that I might be labelled as the bad guy. Therefore, I’m taking this opportunity to demonstrate that I am, in fact, the second rider of the season (laughs).

How are the action sequences?

I started learning from the basics. There were quite a lot of rough and intense movements. While the suit actor takes over the act after henshin, Daiji doesn’t transform much to begin with so there were a lot of times when I myself was sent flying (laughs). Acting to fall down and take a blow was also hard.*

Were there any discussions with the suit actor regarding your character?

We did have discussions on how to add more peculiarity to our character. For instance; although judging from appearances alone you can distinguish between the two of them, we thought of ways to make noticeable expressions that signify Daiji switching into Kagerou. The list includes biting nails, snapping fingers,... And after consulting with everyone, the one who gets the final say is the director. That’s how we paint the character with colors.

How’s your actual relationship with Maeda Kentaro, who plays as your brother?

It felt as if he’s really my brother. We get along well, I even call him “Ken-chan”. We’re always chattering whenever we aren’t filming (laughs). Our hobbies are similar, we hype over our favorite music or games together. Just like real brothers, we’re close enough to loosen up with each other.

Lastly, please tell us the highlights of this work and a message to your fans.

I’d be happy if you warmly watch over how Daiji overcomes his matters, as well as the wicked deeds Kagerou will pull off. And, please, don’t hate Daiji. On the other hand, while I do play Kagerou with my whole heart, please don’t ask me whether I like him or not (laughs).

So far, the story has been revolving around my big brother and Revice’s relationship. There will be more from Daiji and Kagerou’s perspective in the future, so please look forward to it!

Map, or basic understanding of the layout. I recommend Inkarnate for making maps!

Major historical events, think about how wars have sparked new political philosophies and how they’ve shaped cultures today (think about how Liberalism stems from a response to oppressive monarchies)

What’s the culture of the different countries in your world? What kind of arts do they practice, if the arts are widespread? What’s available for entertainment, does the average person have enough downtime to participate in leisure? What’s the architecture like? What are the major exports of each country?

Are there any major historical figures in your countries? Any influential works of literature that have been studied?

What does daily life look like for people in different socioeconomic classes?

Is the culture of country side villages and towns similar to urban areas? How does it differ?

What is the religion? Does each country follow something different, or is everyone the same? Is it mono or polytheistic? Who are the religious leaders? Do people attend church, or is worship practiced in private? Are there any rituals?

What kind of economy do the different countries have? Is it regulated by the government? What’s the major currency?

What’s the social life like? Are there certain customs to follow? What’s considered polite or impolite?

How are foreigners seen? Is there any hostility towards them, or are the citizens of your countries more accepting of other cultures?

What’s the general attitude towards war and other conflicts? Do any of your countries use a pacifist approach? Do any countries protect their neighbors from a common enemy?

Sanitary system, do they have sewage? Think about how disease was common in cities before proper sewage was invented.

Is marriage viewed as a religious or legal institution? What’s the general attitude towards marriage? Is it common? What does the courting process look like?

Are water and other resources readily available? Do they have to be outsourced to other countries?

Science, is it accepted? Do people actively research new things in your countries?

Going back to the prison question, what is the legal system like? Do people get trials? What sort of crimes result in different penalties? Who makes the final decision of punishment, a judge? The lord ruling over the territory the crime took place?

How is death treated? Are funerals held? Do they bury their dead, or use funeral pyres? Are funerals viewed as a celebration of the person’s life, or a time to mourn?

What kind of diseases are common? What do the symptoms look like?

What are your countries’ attitudes towards alcohol and other substances? Is drinking a common practice, or widely frowned upon?

When looking at these different aspects of your world, it’s also important to remember that the histories of our world don’t have to dictate what happens in yours. For example, public education wasn’t really common in the United States until the 1800s. On the other end of that, one of the earliest formal schools was founded in Egypt in 2061-2010 BC and many Middle Eastern cultures have pushed for education since then as the ability to read religious scripture was important.

That said, using the characteristics of different countries can be useful in guiding your own and the histories of said countries can guide you even further. Your world can resemble ours, or be totally different and backwards. At the end of the day, have fun!

I love libraries SO much. If any of you see my book at your library can you please take a picture of it for me??? I haven't had the chance to hang out at a library properly for a few years so when we moved back to NZ it was on my priority list haha. The number of books that I take out at a time is definitely an exaggeration HAHA but I do often take out a few very heavy ones at the same time and it feels like a workout to bring them home. Searching through books always feels like an exciting treasure hunt.
