If booking a truck driver for back to back shifts until they fall asleep at the wheel, crash, and die counts as being worked to death, I have personally met employers who've worked employees to death and gotten away with a slap on the wrist. It may not be universal, but it's a hell of a lot more common than a lot of us would prefer to think.

Thinking about Wayne meeting @wolfensongs kids. Them all calling him Grandpa and making him tear up because danggit he never thought he’d get to have something like that.

Agonizing over what to get Nadia for her birthday. Telling Conan what a fine young man he’s shaping up to be. Patching up Amalia’s favorite jacket when she rips it trying out a new stunt. Teaching Mikey how to change a tire or switch out a broken lock.

Just spending as much time with them all as possible because he never thought he’d be so lucky.

Wayne’s eyes crinkled at the sight, using his whole hand to make the scritches feel even better. Dang kid was just too cute.

“Sure thing.” He smiled, motioning towards the small stack of VHS next to the TV. “Go ahead and pick out a tape fur us.”

Peter let go of him after a minute, his ears twitching as Wayne scratched at them, making his leg thump a bit as he leaned into him more .

“Can we go watch a movie now?” He asked feeling better after his hard day at school.

as someone who has been involved in union organizing through my dad's union since i was literally in second grade, the way that people on tumblr think unions work drives me literally insane
