i can't wait for liko to have the most valid crashout ever

this girl has been caught in the middle of so much tomfoolery for the past like 2 years at arguably the worst age to be for anyone (preteen-teen years)

her grandmother gave her a pendant that basically put a target on her back to be chased around by a corrupt organization, she and her friends were constantly being ambushed and followed by said corrupt organization, she finds out that the explorers were actually using her and the rvt to get to rakua so that a eugenicist old ass man could further his own nefarious purposes, she basically saw two people die in front of her (gibeon and lucius) after stopping a dangerous substance from destroying the environment, one of her close parental figures (that isn't literally her parent) fell out of a flying airship midair in front of her eyes, and after all that one of the members of aforementioned corrupt organization became the ceo of a company that destroys the environment for profit and ruined the reputation of the rvt to cover up their own tracks. this girl's been through a lot to say the least

plus, post-timeskip liko has been noticeably more blunt and willing to tell people off than pre-timeskip liko. which probably means that her next crashout will be more serious and assertive (in a good way) and i think that would be a great way to show her character development from when she used to be super timid and self doubting in the beginning of the serious

also one of my favorite things ever in fiction is when a character with a kind, soft-spoken, or cheerful personality gets fed up with everyone's shit and gets genuinely angry (like spongebob in the episode "can you spare a dime?")

liko has every reason ever to crashout and i think it will be really satisfying when she does. not to mention at one point ann told roy that liko tends to bottle up her feelings, which makes her even more of a ticking time bomb

He smiled so many times this episode (Ceruledge - Ceruledge - Liko, Zirc, Onia)

And of course, like everyone thought, we got the cave scene but mirrored

When Ceruledge and Charcadet battled, and it really showed Amethio’s black and white thinking, on 1 the battle: “there’s no point, I’m gonna win, Ceruledge is stronger” (which he was right, he did win, but still)(also not exact words) and 2 about the whole Spinel situation: “there’s nothing I can do”

I’m really glad Liko managed to convince him otherwise

I also kind of wish they hugged and/or amethio smiled at just her but you know beggars can’t be choosers

Hamber crying when he found out Amethio was alive broke me they are so father son(get out of here Crave I still don’t like you)

Also his mom’s name is Maria… she sounded so sweet in the episode I hope we get more flashbacks of her

Also just want to mentioned I take it back from one of my previous posts he doesn’t actually look that bulky in the show they did a good job I am actually really pleased with his design<33

I saw this summary on Twitter and from the looks of it, the cave and the beach are at the same place(would make sense why Ludlow is there) so I hope he joins them for some beach activities, or at least eats with Liko and gang

I’ll make a separate post about next ep though just wanted to lightly touch on it here since it’s amethio-related

Man oh man, it’s glad to have Ame back, and from the looks of it, if things continue like they’re gonna next ep, we’ll have a little snippet of what he’s doing at the end of each episode like how it was in season 1

Amethio potentially being the only one to know about mighty G’s true identity is a pretty neat parallel to Liko being the only one to see palafins transformation… and that ep also introduced Mighty G. Actually so excited for this dynamic i’ve always wanted it but didn’t really expect to get it… they didn’t really touch much on amethios guilt over gibeon, so maybe he’ll talk about it with ludlow? curry is a big deal in hz, it’ll be the first time we see amethio eat on screen (his ass burnt that berry before he could eat it lmao) and just genuinely means a lot in terms of characters bonding. So I think the connection the two form is going to be really special and important for amethio’s arc. Also it’s really funny to me that amethio finally locks in and immediately gets blasted by a storm, potentially nearly drowning judging by the ep description 💀 someone give this kid a break pls

In the next ep, what if Ludlow becomes a sort of uncle iroh mentor figure for Ame? Like he takes one look at the worn-out sallow teen he rescued from drowning and decides to teach him how to make curry and brew hot tea over a fire and later takes him shopping for new clothes and shoes!

I think it would be really cute if he ends up respecting him! Even better if he becomes a Mighty G fan lol. I’m not too sure if we’ll get the new ame fit just yet, I feel like they’re saving it for after he gets zygarde, it would properly symbolise him taking a big step in taking on gibeon’s will again. I saw someone else talk about how the tattered explorers uniform could represent that he’s not quite ready to let go of his more loner like lifestyle, so when he puts on a new fit it’s to represent a big change within him. But yeah i think Ludlow will have lots of good wisdom for amethio, bonus points if he gets amethio to laugh at his jokes too

Pokemon Horizons Episode 104 Review - Castaway Amethio

If you look at the opening sequence, there’s that one shot of a beach basked in twilight. Now that this episode aired, that beach had been foreshadowing Amethio’s location all along! If you think I’m wrong, the beach has Krabby loitering around like in the opening sequence. You can’t deny that it is the same beach! I bet my assumptions will come to fruition once they update the opening next week.

You know, for someone who has been stranded on an abandoned island for a year, Amethio looks unrealistically clean—yes, I know it’s fiction at the end of the day. It’s still crazy to see him still wearing the same clothes he did for a year and not smell putrid, look crusty and haggard—he only ate berries for a year! I guess it makes sense in a way as his appearance does make it look like time has stopped for him for a year after the events of Laqua. When Spinel’s men kept chasing after him to the point that he decided to isolate himself on an island after his submarine crashed, it would be a wise decision to lay low where no one could find you. If the submarine was a part of the Explorers’ technology, wouldn’t it have a tracking device, though?

I do find it a bit odd that Zir and Onia have been searching everywhere for him and didn’t even think about the fact that he’d be on an abandoned island where his family used to go for vacation. Like, this didn’t occur to you guys? You had to make the teenage girl with the giant green cat be the one to solve your problems like in the previous episode? You two have known him longer than her! Then again, I guess it does make sense that they wouldn’t be able to think that he’d be on an abandoned island because it’s not a likely situation they’d think he be in. It also does show that Liko is intelligent to be able to figure this out.

I liked how Liko was the one encouraging Amethio this time around. Back in Episode 65, Amethio was the telling her if she was going to give up. Liko even said the same words he said to her. I liked that role reversal in a way. Liko was also depressed for a year, but she was able to catch her footing again when Roy came into the picture. Amethio just needed that push to keep going, which happened to be Zirc, Onia and the Zygarde Cube in addition to Liko. The battle between Charcadet and Ceruledge was nice. While there was no result, it was a way to reinvigorate Amethio. I also wonder if there will be a rivalry between Charcadet and Ceruledge now…

I liked how Zirc and Onia told the story of how they met Amethio. It’s not a grandiose story or anything—they just joined the Explorers and when they were tasked with looking after Amethio, they weren’t too thrilled, but grew to respect him and swore loyalty towards him. It’s a very realistic situation and I do like that they went with that approach. Though, I would’ve liked to know why Zirc and Onia joined the Explorers. It was still cute to see how thrilled they were to finally find Amethio that they were flung out of the boat. That’s true loyalty right there. I do like that Onia still adores cat Pokemon as she gave food to Meowscarada. She loves cats, whether they be quadruped or bipedal.

Cervantis makes his return and it seems that he has gotten demoted into being head of the warehouse. It must be rather humiliating for him as the company was made by Gibeon and he ran it as his son-in-law. While it does seem like he’s a neglectful father, he does seem to care about his son as he was relieved about Amethio being spotted. I just hope he’ll be okay because he isn’t aware that he’s being watched by Chalce.

Amethio’s late mother’s name is revealed to be Maria. She’s voiced by Yukiyo Fujii who’s known for voicing Sailor Saturn in Sailor Moon Crystal and voiced another character named Maria from Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings In Russian (Sarah Natochenny voices Alya in the English dub). Now that she got a voice and a name, I do wonder what sort of role she’ll play for Amethio’s story. I’d like to learn more about her.

Now that Amethio is integrated into the time skip story now, I can’t wait to see what will happen with his quest to find Zygarde. It was a nice episode overall. I anticipate Spinel’s downfall—let me reiterate that he’s my favorite character. Let me know your thoughts on this episode!

Generally, imo, the more personal a villain is to the main leads, the worse/more scary I tend to find them.

Like with Volo, he's the only one there for us in our most vulnerable moment when we've been banished to fend for ourselves in the wild, even after we try seeking help with the clans only to get turned down since they're afraid of starting a war. It's likely the player character considered Volo their best friend, so him revealing he was just using us to gather the plates and trying to have Giratina kill us with a smile on his face had to have been pretty traumatic for our character. (Rei even shows signs of it in Masters, he's pretty shocked/nervous around Giratina and Cynthia when they show up to talk to him, and when he senses someone watching him, he gets into a fighting posture.)

With Spinel, there's the spying on the RVT and brainwashing of Liko (plus the rather intimate threat of going into her brain again and erasing her memories of her friends), how he nearly killed the kids in such a slow way, they're likely starving over days in that cave if no one can find them/they can't escape (which Amethio was shown to be incapable of doing on his own), and when they did escape, he used the footage obtained by Beheeyem as "evidence" that Amethio was a traitor and got his grandfather to oust him, him straight-up WINNING in Laqua and using the positive press to slander our heroes so they can't rise back up against him, him blaming Amethio for betraying Gibeon and causing his grandfather's death (so if Ame ever shows back up, he's likely wanted for murder by the other Explorers agents), the fact he experiments with a substance that can destroy the bond between a human and their partner Pokemon, and breaking Liko and Amethio both to the point they had largely given up. At least with Ghetsis, he just made us mad, we could fight back, Spinel had two lead characters in despair.

Unpopular opinion, but Ghetsis, while he's a great, scary villain, has always been a little overhyped since a good amount of his manipulation of N and Team Plasma is off-screen. We still do get a good taste of how nasty he is with him trying to kill us/Lillie and his verbal abuse of N, but imo, that nastier side never really got enough screentime outside of additional media like Masters or the Adventures manga. (Like, he's still definitely the most evil of the mainline villains, I just wish we got more of that ig 😅)

Adding to it, I feel that Spinel and Volo both look less villainous, so they're more surprising with how dangerous they are. In comparison, just one look at this man, and I'm pretty sure we all know who the bad guy was, vs. the guy with the tiny egg baby or the bishie:

It was really nice to finally get some questions like how Zir and Conia met Amethio and how he stranded on that island answered (poor guy probably just wanted to protect his adopted parents from Spinel's grunts. What an absolute gigachad and a sweetheart <3).

ngl when I first learned that amemom real name was Maria I was like "rlly? so many cool names and anipoke chose this one??"

But then I remembered...

Also was that supposed to be Maria's ghost? (and potential teaser for Crystal Pool return/"Mallow and her dead mom reunite" type of episode??👀👀)

back to the episode loved how this time the roles were reversed and Liko had to be the one lifting Ame spirit just like he did with hers back in HZ065! Even their Pokemon (Charcadet and Ceruledge) were mirroring them: Ceruledge just like their trainer was resigned and probably tired, while Charcadet was full of determination and drive and wanted Ceruledge to get up, stand proud and fight. Imo I think that Ceruledge should've learned a new move and defeat charcadet with it (maybe a fire type one like Flare Blitz?) but oh well.

And now for 105:
