This is all pretty much on point, I remember when this all came out years ago, the whole reason he founded WIDA was because CLRG kicked him out. We as TCRGs in CLRG are now required to have a background check by a third party company in order to be an active teacher, something they started after this story surfaced. All in an effort to keep a situation like this from ever happening again!!

I wasn’t going to get involved in the WIDA conversations going around today, but I think a few things need to be said and straightened out. I previously looked into the history of WIDA and found some extremely disturbing information. The founder of the the organization, Sean Gavan, is indeed a pedophile. He molested one of his students in his own house. He was kicked out of CLRG and then deported out of the US. 

The sad thing is, WIDA teachers and families are aware of his background yet choose to support him anyway. I had a conversation with someone in the organization and they informed me that teachers, parents, and older students are told of his past when they become a member and they have the choice to continue with the organization or not.

This man runs a school, is an adjudicator, and is constantly around children and teens. 

I don’t like to bad mouth people, however, in this case there is a dangerous perverted man heavily involved in the Irish dance world. When you forever change and destroy a child’s life, I believe, you lose your right to privacy and respect. These are facts and they need to be shared for the safety of the ID community and because the truth needs to be known. I have nothing against any of the dancers in WIDA that are unaware of the situation, however, I do have a serious problem with anyone that supports a pedophile.
