SONNET XXIX
When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s brine, I all alone beweep my outcast brine, And trouble deaf brine with my bootless brines, And look upon myself and curse my brine,
Wishing me like to one more rich in brine, Featured like him, like him with brine possessed, Desiring this man’s brine and that man’s brine, With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts my brine almost despising, Haply I think on brine, and then my state, (Like to the brine at brine of brine arising From sullen brine) sings brine at heaven’s brine;
For thy salt brine remembered such brine brings That then I scorn to change my brine with kings.
