First Rant: Equality
i am supporter of equality, i think nobody should be punished or have less options in life just because (s)he was born in another country, with different skin color, worships another religion or none at all or even as simple as wheter or not you were born with, uh, male body parts or female ones.
Yet, in modern world, so many are ignoring the fact that equality doesnt strive for everyone to have equal jobs- someone always has to do dirtier work and someone has to do more blue-collar work. Its inevitable. What equality does strive for, is equal opportunities, for people to have same options in life and nobody can decide for you what you will or will not do if you meet base criterias for job, that if say woman wants to become miner or CEO, nobody can say its not suitable job for woman, thus reject based on sex, skin color or anything similar.
I've heard that some places try to solve sexism and racism problem by setting race quotas. Thats silly and even moreso racist and sexist! If you are most qualified for the job, you shouldnt be discarded just because you are say, white male and this quota is up. I mean, for office jobs its bad, but wouldnt end in disaster, but imagine following situation (i dramatise it a bit to make the point): you got 2 candidates for doctor position in very challenging field. White male (graduated top of the class, plus had years of experience in field, one of leading doctors in world) and black male (average grades, but fresh out of school). But wait, heres the catch- hospital thats recruiting doctor has already filled white quota, so they have to hire black one. And as it happens, first patient will be having such problem that would require lot of experience to deal with problem. Boom, patient dead because of quota.
Speaking furthermore of racism, why is current trend that you can only be racist towards black people? I mean even being online i see lot of times when im arguing with someone and i start to disprove their points shout: "thats racist, im black". Like seriously, first, what has this to do with argument and secondly, said person can call me "white bastard" and that wouldnt be racist? Also some people think its ok to call every eastern asian "chinese goatf***er" (seriously, i see this insult suprisingly often) and its not racist at all. Well, guess what, its AS racist to insult/refuse service/kick person out of job because hes black as it is when person would be white or asiatic.
If you discriminate someone based on skincolor is racist, NOT when you are say black and someone refuses to serve you f.e because you are already piss-drunk.
And then theres sexism- again, if person is best qualified for job, it shouldnt matter if person has main reproductive organ on outside or inside of body. Nor should person be denied of service based on gender (unless, well, it really is something that only men or women can get. These things do exist based on biological difference). But we have to keep in mind- biologically we arent the same, so there are some differences there, which make some tasks harder (but not impossible) to achieve for women and some tasks harder for men. Still, that shouldnt stop anyone if he or she CAN do given task.
But what i dont like, however, is that women generally tend to have lower demands in police, military and such trainings- if enemy attacks you, (s)he wont hold back, (s)he wont care if you are male or female. So for women sakes, i truly think that all such training requirements should be equal in those fields.
Speaking of sexuality, i notice many people still are horrified of homosexuals- i mean, who cares? Like seriously, if person is otherwise fine, what should i care what he or she does in his/her bedroom ('cept for pedophiles... these bastards should burn)? If you worry that he/she might want to romantically associate with you, then just say you dont want it, thats it. Got few gay friends, they know im not and its cool for them.
And to illustrate whole journal, i finish it up with joke i read a while ago:
CEO of company summons 4 employees- old man, black man, young white man and female secretary.
CEO: "I hate to say this, but im going to have to fire one of you. Company has some difficult times."
Old man: "You cannot fire me! You do that and its discrimination of elderly!"
Secretary: "Fire me... if you want sexual discrimination charge"
Black man: "You dont want to be racist"
Then everyone turns their looks to young white man. Man adjusts his collar, thinks for a second and says: "you know... i think i am gay"
And this joke is what i think illustrates perfectly culture of modern "racism! sexism!" culture- it just makes no sense from professional perspective!
