I think a lot of people on this website would benefit from hearing that back in 2011 when I was a part of my college's pride group, I was friends with a gay cis male drag queen whose roommate was a lesbian. They had sex with each other often, but it didn't stop my friend from identifying as a gay guy, nor did it stop their roommate from being a lesbian. Neither of them identified as bisexual. This kind of stuff happens between queer people of "conflicting" identities all the time, it's nothing new. There aren't any rules

anybody thinking abt like... neku and fret parallels?

fret's character remains mostly static throughout the game as the comedic relief until it gets dropped on our heads that he's like that on purpose, which is fascinating to me. alas, it's gone into that much depth beyond fret's character development day (thank you w3d3), but there's still a lot

so. we learn that fret's a people pleaser, who tries to make others happy at all costs, who's afraid of being honest about his feelings for fear of upsetting his friends, who cares more about his friends than himself

which is the pretty much opposite of early game twewy neku, who's closed off, unafraid of speaking his mind and telling others to screw off, who valued nothing and no one besides himself to the point the game took his memories

the reason behind these behaviours is fascinating to compare, however. the death of a friend. both these opposite behaviours are motivated by grief. primarily, to avoid repeating it.

neku blames himself because his friend got into an accident after neku invited them. as a result, he refused to make new friends, deriding others as annoyances, for fear of a same accident occuring again.

with fret's friend... i feel the implication is that they killed themself. fret puts a lot of focus on how he failed at cheering them up, keeping them happy... well. afterward, he puts aside his own feelings so his friends will stay content with both fret and their own lives, it seems.

both their arcs involve a degree of emotional honesty, but in an opposite way, as has been the case so far. neku admits that he cares about shiki, fret admits that he's not fine. neku's previous denial of feelings was focused on his relationship to others, whereas fret's was focused on his internal feelings to himself.

furthermore, both these arcs involve letting others in, letting them see who you are, and having them still love you regardless while being your most authentic self

it's a rather similar starting point that careened into opposite directions only to arrive at a similar conclusion. it's interesting.

Really wish words like “crossdresser” and “transvestite” didn’t get pushed out of people’s vocabulary cause now we’ve got 20yr olds who genuinely believe the two modes of expression are True Transgender and Valor Thief. Seeing takes like “men dressing as women is making a mockery of the transfeminine experience” (predominantly regarding F1nn5ter or celebs in skirts). Like ohhhh you are so right! We need to protect the divine feminine from any measure of mockery. You know what? We should gather weapons and storm our nearest Drag Story Hour and teach those degenerates a lesson.

I accidentally stumbled upon this elderly gay man’s website last night, it’s been active since the 90s and has pages talking about his personal life as a gay cowboy it’s super interesting! he has webcams running on it that refresh every minute or so and pages about his experiences with HIV and cancer - he also has a massive archive of gay magazine scans (18+) from the 70s up to the 90s!

[Day 7- Sabitsuki's balcony/No effect]

DAY 7 WOOHOO!!!! happy (two days late) anniversary .flow! this challenge was super fun to do and im very happy i managed to complete the whole thing, even if fell a little bit behind at the end :D i only discovered .flow just last year but its become one of my favorite games so doing a whole week of fanart for it was really fun! im really glad that i had the opportunity to do this because not only has it been super great for my art skills (doing the different poses was a good challenge and so were the backgrounds) but also because i just adore this game and im super happy that this challenge exists! alright thats all i have to say im just super happy

[Day 4- Sewers/Gas mask effect]

day 4 down only three more to go! this ones not my favorite so far but i do like it! i like how the background turned out and im proud of the gas mask considering this is like my first time ever drawing one lol *w* i was going to draw the wastewater area (the place with the giant slime that leads to the blood pus and rust event) but i didnt want to have to do something too detailed so i just went with the entrance to the sugar hole!

heres day 2! im gonna be honest i have no idea what the ghost labyrinth is so instead i decided to draw the area i most used this effect in, cloud world! drawing all the things in the background was really hard (especially the tiles) but i like how it turned out :D
