My car is in need of major repairs that will cost over $1000. There are more details on the campaign itself, but long story short, I was let go from my job in January and have been struggling to find a better one. I have a degree, experience, and a network, but can barely get my foot in the door anywhere. I have a part time job as a janitor but it pays poorly and I am struggling to get by. It’s better than nothing, so I still need it to keep myself going as I am searching for a better job. I would also like to start looking further out for work, and I can’t do that with my car basically needing to stay local in its current shape. It took me over a year to escape living with my abusive family, and I’m constantly afraid that my only option if things get worse would be having to live with them again and I think that would break me. I know I am constantly asking for help on here. I am really sorry to keep doing that. I’m hoping that getting my car in good shape will help me eventually find something better.

It's been nice to see people start to push back against the 'historical fiction heroine must espouse modern-sounding Girl Power talking points even though she was raised in a culture in which it would be really weird for her to do so', but can we take a second to talk about its bigger cousin, 'historical fiction monarch protagonist must, as soon as they ascend the throne, declare that the country will be a democracy now despite nothing in the setting indicating that anyone has even heard the word democracy before'
#it’s deeply funny to me when it’s implied like ‘oh they’re kings but the democracy is/will soon be in place and there’ll be a Cabinet’#like okay so are they selling the palace and their crown soon or…?#are they trading those diamonds? what’s the deal with that#or are you telling me your Good King still lives in a palace maintained by the people’s money?#you know. something that actual anti monarchist sentiment talks about#congratulations! you have a king w no actual power and also the people are rioting because why are we still paying for your fucking wedding

sex pollen is an integral part of the fanfiction ecosystem but i just don't think poison ivy would make anything that encourages procreation of even more humans. unless she figures out how to make the sex pollen same-sex specific or fertility-negating she's not making it at all. #philosophical

Honestly part of the problem with this obsession with only consuming unproblematic fiction is that people are less likely to acknowledge when something is harmful. If you so much as say hey this one joke in this one episode was offensive fans will write you an essay on why it wasn’t. Because they’ve created a world view where this is basically accusing them of being a bad person who has committed an unforgivable sin.
#sometimes you’ll be like#‘i’m not sure they thought through the implications of what they’ve put onscreen’#and the response will be#‘well then why are YOU????#maybe i want to question a pervasive mindset guys idk

Don’t get me wrong I loved Superman too and I’m glad it’s finally onscreen how he too would get mistreated for being an alien but like considering his parents are pale colonizers who explicitly have hopes for him to conquer Earth and impose Kryptonian culture and it ends with him completely renouncing his heritage to embrace american (also white) parents I’m not sure the movie is the immigrant story victory of the decade y’know?
#superman 2025#like the scene at the end with the kents? really touching story for adoption narrative purposes#for immigrant narratives? not so much.

Break up Visa and Mastercard. Break up any bank worth more than a billion dollars. Tax excess profits at 125%. Make companies pay exorbitant fees to conduct stock buybacks. Cap interest rates on mortgages at 1%. Raise the minimum wage to $50 an hour. Make healthcare universal and ban private hospitals. Make legislators sell everything they own and live in barracks like monks. Make elected officials swear oaths of poverty. Tax churches. Prosecute Exxon. Take Fox News off the air. Build a world in which it’s impossible to be both rich and powerful.

Examples of Protective Hair Coverings
I had to scroll through unreasonable amounts of white people for this. Oh, Google.
Durag

Silk Bonnet

Silk Scarf
youtube
Loc Socks

Okay, I admit. I've been using loc sock and loc bonnet interchangeably bc I've worn both and I know what I mean, but I cannot do that anymore.
Different styles will require different night time protective care! If your Black character has a silk press, she may choose to wrap her hair in a scarf. If they've got long locs or braids, a long silk bonnet will be better. A teeny weeny afro? A short bonnet will suffice, or they might even go bare. These are far from the only methods! We have oodles of options on how we maintain specific styles. Black hair care requires effort! Research and pick one!

There's a bunch of adhd advice out there that's like "people with adhd tend to work better under deadlines due to the anxiety so here are ways to artificially induce a stress response in order to get you to get work done" and it's like well what if I don't want to be stressed out all the time in order to function
#yeah learning to work through some discomfort is important but why are we acting like stressing ourselves is The Only way#i dont want to kill myself via Too Much Stress For The Meat#see this is why i side eye anti genai posts sometimes#because Genuinely Good Points have started to get sidetracked in additions#‘you HAVE to be STRESSED you HAVE to suffer otherwise YOURE DOING IT WRONG’#i hate genai as much as the next person but also no you shouldn’t be ruining your health over grades ToT#all those ‘well *i* learned to fulfill a deadline by giving myself three breakdowns’#it’s giving ‘i suffered therefore so should you’#what are we. catholic??? A few years ago while trying to find ways to commit suicide as painlessly as possible, I came across a PDF of Dr. Paul Quinnett's The Forever Decision. Thinking it might go into actual methods of suicide (I read an article once that actually did that and was trying to find it again) I started to read it, and I think I only got about two pages in before I was crying too much to actually see the words.
I downloaded the PDF to my hard drive and I open it again whenever I'm feeling too suicidal to do much else, but not enough to start booking a ride to the hospital. And every time without fail I only go up to a few pages before backing off and choosing to live another day just because suicide suddenly seems even more unbearable than whatever the hell upset me in the first place.
All the book really does is [I'm pulling a summary from GoodReads here as, again, I've read no more than 5 pages] "discusses the social aspects of suicide, the right to die, anger, loneliness, depression, stress, hopelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, the consequences of a suicide attempt, and how to get help."
But it also starts with the author kindly asking the reader to complete the book before going through with anything, and for some reason I'm compelled to really just try to read it all before finalizing everything. Despite not yet completing it (hopefully never will) I think I can safely say it's saved my life at least a few times now.
It's intentionally legal to copy and redistribute this book to keep it as accessible as possible, and it's very easy to find, but here's a link for it anyways.

I live in complete poverty and disability. Trying to make art to sell as prints as I am not getting commissions the way I used to. I am disabled and diabetic, immunocompromised from recent surgery, and I live in a traditional filipino house partially destroyed by storms and termites. I work 3 jobs, but they are all very unstable. Please please please, if you've ever derived joy from my art or insight from my posts or book recs, if you could pick up a print, send a tip, or subscribe to my patreon where I have 400+ exclusive drawings / early access, it would help keep me alive, in the most literal sense. I have been given a second chance at life, and I would like to keep living. Thank you so much

"The nonbinary afab who goes by she/her, dresses femininely, and uses a push-up bra when I—" when you what? What's wrong with her?
Is she not nonbinary enough for you? Is the way she experiences her queerness and how she presents not perfect enough for you? Nonbinary people don't owe you androgyny, right? So why is she the exception? Why does she have to hate herself to appeal to your standards? Why is she any less trans—any less worthy of respect—cause it's "not visible"? Queer solidarity my ass. Don't spout this bullshit on Pride, man.
#yeah because tell me why i and a lot of my fellow nonbinary people who don’t present androgynous#have been made to feel like we cannot claim the trans label#like we cannot touch it. like we are not part of it. like we should be excluded from trans spaces#fuck off#i am trans i am nonbinary i don’t owe you anything#stand with your fellow queers and stop talking about ‘fakers’

Just for essentials idk fighting off heat exhaustion. Sweating buckets indoors so at least there's that.
