Snap Regional Tour 2017 season

Event 1 welcomed some new players to the tour, Maureen Vandeven, Hanna Kwon, Kristy Ranalli, Kayla Jones, Pamela Mullan, Donna Baxter and Lisa Stevens; welcome ladies. Great shooting by all ladies your play was impressive.  

The day started off with Suzanne Peters getting by Krista Walsh on the hill to set up a meeting with Denise Belanger who got by Lisa Stevens 7-0 and Maureen Vandeven 7-4. Pamela Mullan met up with Kayla Jones, after Jones got by Kristy Ranalli 7-4, Jones was catching fire sending Pamela to the B side with a 7-3 win to meet up with Lisa Stevens. Belanger and Jones were in a grove marching through their matches to set up A side finals meeting. Meanwhile on the other side of the board Suzanne and Hanna were determined to get to the B side finals after Suzanne was knocked over by Belanger and Hanna by Jones. Mullan won 7-0 against Stevens and 7-1 against Donna Baxter to meet up Suzanne who took match 7-5. Vandeven defeated Ranalli 7-1 and Walsh 7-5 to match up with Hanna, Hanna taking match on the hill to get to B side finals with Suzanne. Hanna would outlast Suzanne 7-6 to take command of the B side. Jones took control of the hot seat with 7-2 victory over Belanger.  Hanna would lock horns with Belanger to determine who would challenge Jones for championship. Hanna was still in a grove as she defeated Belanger 7-4 to challenge for championship and have rematch of the day. Final match a true double elimination saw Hanna and Jones making great shots and safeties that had spectators impressed, Hanna taking first set 7-1, setting up a second set which she won 7-5. Congratulations to Suzanne Peters 4th, Denise Belanger 3rd, Kayla Jones 2nd and Hanna Kwon champion.

Marina Linguerri Wins WPBA SNAP Tour Stop #6

Event #6 went off well thanks to all the ladies who showed to make the event a great one. The next event is a qualifier which will be held September 17, 2016 details to follow. There were four ladies competing which meant there was a lot of points waiting to be claimed. With one more event left to solidify positions, event 6 was important turning point for players looking to make moves or put strangle hold on positions they already hold.

First round saw Marina Linguerri getting by Steph Cote 7-3 and Suzanne “cuttz” Peters getting by Sandy Clayton 7-6 in a close match. Those results set up a meeting between Sandy and Steph to see who would move on. Sandy got by Steph 5-4 in a close finish. Sandy jumped out to an early lead 4 to1 but Steph battled back to setup a hill finish, with Sandy holding on 5-4. On the other side of the board Marina showing strong play, winning 7-3 against Suzanne, sending Suzanne to B-side to meet up with Sandy again to see who would go on to face Marina for the Championship. Sandy jump out to a 2-0 start however, Suzanne battled hard to tie match at 3 games and despite some tough play from her opponent she eventually pulled away to 5-3 win.

Marina and Suzanne meet once more to decide event 6 champion. Marina continuing her strong play; jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Suzanne was not ready to let her run away with it battled back to take lead 5-4. The ladies were back and forth to the hill with Marina taking match first set. What an exciting finish and outstanding play by both ladies. Congratulations Stephanie Cote 4th, Sandy Clayton 3rd, Suzanne Peters 2nd and Marina Linguerri Champion. With $300 added total prize payout was $500 to 4 spots. First was $230, second $130 third $90 and fourth $50

Marina Linguerri Captures SNAP Regional #5

Tour event #5 is now in the books, thanks to all the ladies who showed to make the event a great one. We are now one event away from the qualifier which will be held September 17, 2016 details to follow. The WPBA is celebrating its 40th year, this year. As part of that celebration the qualifier will be in keeping with this momentous occasion.

SNAP Regional Tour Gaining Momentum

Tour stop #4 was a success as some spectators were introduced to the sport and were impressed with the level play they saw. Congrats ladies that’s what the sport needs as part of its growth and when you’re able to put on a show for the fans it works in the sports favour. Now to the particulars of the tournament.

Tour stop #4 saw nine ladies competing to take this one. First round saw Krista “kickshot” Walsh taking on Lisa Heinen, Lisa was strong early going up two games and was looking comfortable until Krista settled into a groove and taking match 7 – 3. Sandy Clayton vs Suzanne “Cutz” Peters saw Suzanne taking match 7 -1. Faith Moore got by Leanne “Laser” Lini 7-4.

Krista Walsh Seizes Victory at SNAP WPBA Tour Stop #3

SNAP WPBA Tour stop #3 is now behind us but leaves great memories for the players. Two new members joined our tour; we offer a warm welcome to Sandy Clayton and Leanne Lini. Six ladies competed in the $320 added event, with a total prize payout of $620 paid to four spots.

The first round saw a showdown between points leaders Denise Belanger and Suzanne Peters who were tied at 360 points going into tournament.

Denise was strong out of the gates and never looked back while cruising to a 7-2 win which put Suzanne on B-side. Krista Walsh Drew new member Sandy Clayton who played strong making Krista work for a 7-5 win. Denise met up with new member Leanne Lini who played strong but fell 7-3 to Denise.

Denise lost to Krista which sent her to the B-side where she met up with Suzanne again for in B-side final, race to 5. This was a battle back and forth to the hill. While match hill, hill tie with Denise breaking....she broke and made the 9ball. On the hill, finish ON THE SNAP!!

That set up a rematch between Denise and Krista for championship. It was a close one set win for Krista, with a final score of 7-6. Congratulations to Krista Walsh, with that win it moves her into third place in the overall tour standings.

The current top for in this years' standings are Denise Belanger first, Suzanne Peters second, Krista Walsh third and Faith Moore fourth.

Our next Tournament will be held June 25, 2016, 11:30am at On The Snap Billiards and Lounge. This stop coincides with the 3rd anniversary of the room. 2016 Snap WPBA Regional Stop #2 Results

Snap WPBA Tour stop 2 got under way with a field of 8 ladies. Points leaders Suzanne Peters, Denise Belanger, Lisa Heinen, Stephanie Cote and Faith Moore returned to meet new members Krista Walsh, Cheryl Reed and Gisele Maurice.

First round

Denise came back from 5-0 to win her match against Lisa 7-6, Suzanne came back from 3-1 to win 7-4 against Cheryl, Krista cruised to a 7-1 victory over Gisele, Stephanie won 7-3 over Faith.

Round 2

Suzanne vs Stephanie a-side race to 7..... Suzanne 7-4

Denise vs Krista a-side race to 7....... Denise 7-5

Cheryl vs Faith B side race to 5 .......Faith 5-3

Suzanne Peters Wins SNAP Stop #1

Snap Regional tour stop 1, with $300 added prize money, is in the books. Thanks to all the ladies who came out to compete and take the step towards becoming a professional player. There were some great shots made and some close ones missed as well. Honorable mention to Stephanie Cote, Faith Moore and Lisa Heinen, who are newcomers to this level of play. They did well, holding their own and not shying away from the competition. 

It came down to Denise Belanger and Suzanne Peters in the final. Suzanne's first match of the tournament was not easy, it was back and forth with Stephanie Cote which ended up tied at 5 until Suzanne pulled out wins in the next two racks and settled into a groove including a 7-5 win against Denise, 

knocking her into the B-side. Denise seemed to be in command early in tournament, beating her opponents efficiently 7-0 against Faith, 7-1 against Lisa and 5-2 against Lisa again in B-side Finals. 

Suzanne defeated Denise in the finals 7-4 in a solid victory, earning $250 for her 1st place finish. Denise earned $150, with 3rd place cashing out $90. Congratulations Suzanne!! Next event will be held April 30, 2016, 12:00 noon at On The Snap Billiards and Lounge, Stoney Creek ON. Hope to see more ladies out.

WPBA Regional Tour Comes to Southern Ontario

Ontario, Canada – The WPBA is pleased to announce a new tour in Ontario, Canada. The SNAP WPBA sanctioned Regional Tour will be serving all of Southern Ontario under the guidance of Regional Tour Director, Patrick Peters. Now, aspiring and top female players in the region will have an opportunity to be a part of the WPBA. Players will also have a chance to qualify for the WPBA Regional Tour Championships and the possibility of competing in a WPBA Pro Event with the best players in the world.

SNAP Regional Tour events will begin in the coming weeks. Information will be posted on www.onthesnap.ca and will be sent out through Facebook, printed materials, and media. This is an exciting time for female players in the Southern Ontario region, as they anticipate competing in SNAP's inaugural, WPBA Regional Tour sanctioned event!
