Taylor A. Swift’s job is to maintain the image of Taylor Swift (the brand)

In so doing Taylor A. Swift must present herself in such a way that maintains the heterosexual girl next door Taylor Swift brand image

The trade off for Taylor A. Swift was and continues to be universal relatability, fame, fortune, and success doing what she loves.

However, like going braless in a white shirt on a chilly day, Taylor A. Swift’s queerness inevitably began peeking out in hard to cover ways. “Just couldn’t keep it in.”

For years Taylor Swift (the brand) buried any and every credible source that discussed Taylor A. Swift’s actual or potential queerness

At a certain point Taylor Swift (the brand) decided that incorporating some more aspects of Taylor A. Swift into the image would be more beneficial than continuing to bury or ignore inconsistencies.

Taylor A. Swift writes songs from a personal place and can build stories out of memory snapshots and inspiration from other forms of art that resonate with her. Taylor Swift (the brand) creates characters to tell those same stories through a fictional lens.

Taylor A. Swift’s personal life at this point is private. Taylor Swift (the brand)’s personal life is private until it’s needed for promotion.

What we are seeing now is Taylor A. Swift, the face of Taylor Swift (the brand) leaning into highlighting the inconsistencies between the two, all while simultaneously maintaining the brand’s image.

Taylor A. Swift is hyper aware of this dichotomy and sings about the inconsistencies. “Sending signals to be double crossed.”

This in turn created this gnarly two-headed figure that alternates between personhood and persona during every public appearance.

Who Taylor becomes after this is all over will be an amalgamation of everything she has experienced and whoever Taylor A. Swift chooses to be.

😈 I haven’t seen anyone mention yet that the match.com advert by Reynolds is actually the story of K&J’s public bearding narrative. It cracks me up how much Reynolds got away with - it’s not 🍵, it’s complete Satire like London Boy😂 The devil is in hell when he is matched (contracted) with K, they meet and lightening strikes, they go enjoy a sporting field together, take promo photos by the dumpster fire with scooter in the background, karlie works on her adidas promo and is at the gym, karlie pulls the devil up the church steps (marriage) all while “love story” is playing comically in the background because this is anything but a love story! Then the devils says he doesn’t want 2020 to end & karlie sarcastically responds “who would”. Like, it’s literally their bearding story. Reputation is still my favourite album and has been the source of many arguments with other people who called it a 'flop' because it didn't have many huge radio singles.

dude that song was YEARS ahead of its time. the same bombastic sonic elements and instrumental tones of LWYMMD are the ones that rock artists (Bring Me The Horizon, Billie, The Wrecks, Nothing But Thieves, etc) who “shaped” the new direction of rock started using in 2019. And Taylor called reputation a “rock opera” in interviews, herself - so she knew what she was doing.

There’s so many things  she has culturally influenced that don’t become relevant until years later and it’s partially amazing and partially very frustrating, because she never gets credit (i.e Red is also singlehandedly responsible for the sonic diversity in country music today because country radio kept playing her music even when her genre was branching away. but i’m not gonna talk about that in my monologue).
