——————————————————————
Y/N’s POV
“Come here my love. We have to get you dressed before daddy gets home.” I sigh as I try and wrangle in the bundle of energy that is my daughter.
“Daddy daddy daddy!” She chants as she runs around the room.
“Yes, daddy’s coming home today. We have to get you ready to greet him.” I try and argue. It does no good as she starts jumping up and down on her tiny toddler bed.
“God you’re just like your father.” I whisper to myself as I drop her favorite shoes on the ground.
I run over and scoop Caroline up in my arms. I start jumping around with her before throwing her down lightly on the bed. I straddle her with my legs before I start tickling her stomach and sides with everything I have in me. Her laughter is contagious as her high-pitched giggles ring out throughout her bedroom. My laughs soon join hers as I fall beside her. I sigh as she cuddles into her usual place, tucked safely between my arm and chest, her head resting gently on the curve that connects my neck and shoulder.
“Did you miss daddy?” Caroline asks softly as she starts mindlessly playing with the neckline of my t-shirt. I told myself I’d get her ready first and I’d have time for me afterward. Rookie first-time mother mistake. I’m currently laying in my three-year-old daughter’s bed with nothing but my husband’s t-shirt and a pair of underwear on. That is a sentence I never thought I’d say.
“More than you’ll ever know.” I answer, stroking her hair softly.
“Did daddy miss us?” She wonders aloud. For a three-year-old, she’s very curious.
“More than we did him. But you know what?” I straighten the sleeve of her shirt.
“What mommy?” Caroline questions.
“He kept a picture of you right over his heart wherever he went. That way you were always with him.” I feel a tear slip down my face. I wipe it off before she can see.
“When’s he gonna be home?” I hear her soft voice murmur into my neck.
“Very soon, my love. Very soon.” I watch as my beautiful baby girl’s eyes lull shut, and her breathing becomes even. Before long I’ve joined her in her nap, probably needing it more than she does.
Bradley’s POV
The excitement pumping through my chest as I step out of my bronco onto the familiar gravel driveway of my house is unlike anything I’ve ever felt. I close the door and jog up the front porch stairs, waiting to hear my little girl’s high pitched laughter as I open the front door. But after I push it open with the biggest smile on my face, there’s nothing but quiet. I don’t think my house has ever been remotely quiet. And that was before my daughter was born. Y/N and I kept it plenty loud if you know what I mean.
”Honey! I’m home!” Even as I say it, I hate how cliché the line sounds on my tongue. I drop my bag at the bottom of the steps as I see my daughter’s room is open.
“Caroline? Y/N? You guys in there?” I gently push on the door to find the two most beautiful and important women in my life squeezed into a toddler sized bed and holding onto each other as they sleep soundly side by side.
The sight makes my heart melt and swell at the same time. Caroline, lying there in a Hawaiian patterned button up and Y/N in nothing but my t-shirt and some skimpy underwear. God I’ve missed my family. I pull out the picture Y/N sent me from the surprise party she threw Caroline for her third birthday. Y/N has Caroline on her shoulders and she’s holding a teddy bear in a flight suit up to Caroline. She called me that day explaining that she’d sprayed the bear with my cologne and even stitched my callsign on a badge and sewn it onto the right side of the bear’s chest.
“I want her to always have her dad with her. Even if you’re not here physically. She will never forget you.” Y/N had explained over the phone. I remember tearing up as I stared at the smile on Caroline’s face.
“Thank you, honey. God I wish I could be with you two.”
The amount of times I’d imagined holding Y/N against my chest or pretending Caroline was a plane and running her around the back yard were finally gonna happen today. And here they are. Two feet in front of me, breathing softly in unison, peaceful as ever at 3:00 in the afternoon.
I silently step closer to the bed, but not before snapping a quick picture on my phone. I kneel beside my wife’s head and press a gentle kiss to her forehead. I then kiss her cheek as her eyes start to flutter.
“I’m dreaming,” She mutters. “It’s just a dream.” I start stroking her cheek with my thumb as she smiles softly.
“No darling, it’s me.” I whisper as I kiss her lips ever so gently.
“Bradley?” Y/N’s eyes snap open as she realizes it’s really me and I’m really there.
“Hey honey. Did ya miss me?” I smile cockily as she starts waking up Caroline.
“Sweety, daddy’s home!” She says.
“Daddy?” Caroline murmurs into her mother’s chest.
“Yes my love, turn around.” Y/N smiles softly as she helps Caroline roll over. The second she sees me, her energy levels jump to those that Y/N has described so many times over the phone.
“Daddy!” She squeals as she jumps up and throws her arms around my neck.
“Hey there sweetheart! I missed you so much!” I say as I start spinning her around in a circle.
“I love you daddy.” Caroline tucks her head into my neck as Y/N climbs off the toddler bed.
“I love you too, sweetheart. More than you’ll ever know.” I kiss Caroline’s hand as I look over at Y/N, beautiful as ever as she tugs my t-shirt further down her legs.
“And just what do you think you’re doing, Mrs. Bradshaw?” I say as I walk over to her.
“Waiting for you obviously.” She smirks.
“Well, you won’t have to wait much longer.” I give her the grin that I know makes her knees weak as I tug the shirt back above her ass and give it a little squeeze.
“Come on! Daddy has a surprise for you and mommy!” I say as I start running with my daughter down the stairs towards the living room.
Y/N’s POV
Seeing Bradley run around with Caroline secure in his arms brings my heart more joy then I’ve felt since the day she was born. He jogs down the stairs, bouncing her the entire way down. Her laughter echoes off the living room walls as he throws her onto the couch. I pull the shirt back down my legs as I go and join the two of them.
Bradley has grabbed his duffel bag and is waiting for me to come and sit beside him. Once I do, he passes it off to me.
“So, it’s for Caroline but I want you to open it.” He says, the smile on his face growing incredibly huge.
“Should I be scared?” I question, genuinely scared for what this man brought home for our kid.
“Not even in the slightest.” Bradley wraps his arm around my shoulder as I unzip the duffel bag.
Whatever I was expecting was not what was actually in the bag. Caroline jumps over me to get to her father to give him a hug as I pull out a Hawaiian patterned button up. Another one to add to the twelve she already has.
”It’s adorable, but can I ask a question?” I gently fold the shirt and place it back in the duffel bag.
“Absolutely.” Bradley says as he holds Caroline against his chest and strokes her back.
“Why did you get seven of the same shirt?” I place the duffel bag at my feet as I watch Bradley’s smile turn into a cheeky grin.
“Well, she never stops growing, so she outgrows all the clothes we buy her in like two months. So I had the genius idea to buy her the same shirt all the way through a youth large so we never have to worry about her outgrowing her Hawaiian shirts.” Bradley looks so proud of himself that I can’t possibly be mad. I just laugh and say I agree as I notice that Caroline has fallen back asleep in her father’s arms.
“Can I see your phone?” I whisper.
Bradley shifts ever so slightly to pull his phone out of the front pocket of his jeans. He hands it to me and I open the camera. Unbeknownst to him, I start recording. He lays his head on top of Caroline’s and smiles softly, holding her tiny head against his chest as he stands up and starts walking to her room. I follow behind him on the stairs as the camera focuses on their two faces. Bradley pushes her door open with his foot before gently laying her down on her mattress and covering her up with a blanket. Before he leaves, he tucks the teddy bear I got Caroline for her third birthday under her right arm. He then turns around and walks out of the room. I hold the phone down at my side so it keeps recording but Bradley doesn’t know.
“You’re an amazing dad, honey.” I whisper once the door is closed.
“I’m a bit out of practice.” He rubs the back of his neck, a dead giveaway that he’s worried he did something wrong.
“Hey. What’s wrong?” I question softly as I start stroking his arm with the hand not holding the phone.
“I’ve just missed so much of her life. I don’t know what her favorite food is, what tv she likes to watch. I don’t know anything about my own daughter.” I watch Bradley try and keep his composure.
“Hey that’s not true. What’s her favorite color?” I ask.
“Dark purple, and it has to be dark.” He answers as he leans against her door.
“Correct. What’s her favorite animal?” I keep going, knowing that I can help him realize that he has been a major part of her three and a half years of life.
“Koala because she thinks it looks cuddly.” He smiles gently to himself as he remembers the thirty minute conversation we had while at the zoo when she was about two.
“See? You do know her. And she knows you. You’ve been such a big part of her life. She idolizes you Bradley. You are her favorite person in the entire world. She insisted on wearing Hawaiian print today because she knows how much you love it.” I touch his cheek with my hand, forcing him to look at me.
“You really mean that?” He asks, staring deeply into my eyes as he searches for the truth.
“Have I ever lied to you before?” I argue with a soft smile of my own.
“Well I think you lied about how you felt about me buying all those shirts.” He murmurs.
“I did yes but not for the reason you think.” I watch Bradley’s face fall.
“Oh god. What did I do?” He worries. “Whatever I did I’m so sorry.” He starts panicking.
“You didn’t do anything wrong. I promise. What you did do was set my ovaries on fire.” I grin seductively at Bradley.
“Do tell.” His expression suddenly changes as he wraps both his arms around my waist. I wrap my arms around the small of his back, pulling him closer to me.
“Watching you with Caroline made me realize just how much I love seeing you as a dad and just how much I want another kid with you. And then you had to go and buy the same shirt in seven different sizes which only set my mind wandering to the fact that we can’t just throw them away and they don’t fit us, so.” I let my voice trail off as Bradley’s hands slide around my waist as he starts kissing along my jaw. He gets to my ear before whispering,
“Say it darling.” The low rasp in his voice and the pressure from his hips sends me over the edge.
“Let’s make another baby.” I mutter into his ear. Bradley’s hips jerk forward to meet mine and I feel the bulge growing inside his jeans. He steps back and looks at me with the hungriest look in his eyes.
“As you wish.” Then he’s picking me up by my ass and carrying me to our bedroom. I have just enough time to stop the camera recording before he throws me down on the bed.

Callsigns (Bob x Girlfriend to Fiancé reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Bob’s girlfriend refuses to call any of his friends by their callsigns and when they try to give her one, she refuses. That is, until Bob gives her one she can’t turn down.
Warnings: Drinking, other than that, none! Pure Bob being a soft boy for the love of his life.
Word count: 1,403
Author’s Note: I love the idea of Bob proposing. I think he’d get so nervous and he’d fumble over his words and it’d be adorable! So I wrote about it. Enjoy! (credit to gif owner)
——————————————————————
“Jake, can you get another round for me? I’ll pay you back when I get the chance.” I call out.
“Only if you call me Hangman. Everybody calls me Hangman.” Jake counters.
“Uh, wrong. Everybody calls you Bagman.” Natasha corrects from the pool table. Jake turns around and gives her the side eye.
“I gotcha, darling. What’d you want?” I hear Robert ask from beside me. He squeezes my shoulder as he stands up and unwraps my legs from his lap.
“Surprise me.” I say with a smile.
“Don’t I always?” He smirks as he pecks my lips quickly.
“I loath the day the two of you fell in love.” Jake comments as he heads over to the pool table with Natasha and Bradley.
“I think it’s sweet.” Natasha says, handing over her cue to Jake.
“Thank you, Nat.” I say as I cross my legs and relax into my chair. I turn around briefly to see Robert, Penny, and Pete having what seems to be a pretty deep conversation. Penny looks shocked and Pete looks a little sick. Robert has a goofy looking smile on his face, the smile that made me weak in the knees three years ago. I smile to myself as he walks back over with our drinks.
“Penny’s new concoction. All she said was it’s sweet and has gin in it.” Robert says, handing me the tall glass with a smile.
“Thank you, sweetheart.” I take a small sip and am immediately hit with how much trouble this drink could get me in. You can’t taste the alcohol at all and the sweet aftertaste on my tongue leaves me craving more.
“So, Y/N. Why don’t you ever use our call signs? That’s how everyone refers to us here.” Jake asks as he takes a shot and sinks the five ball.
“It doesn’t feel as personal as your name.” I explain simply.
“But they’re like nicknames we got from friends, some of us for doing something stupid, others of us have personal attachments to our call signs.” Bradley explains as he snatches the cue from Jake and lines up his next shot.
“Take your sweetheart for example,” Jake starts.
“No!” Robert interrupts. Everyone starts laughing as they remember their first time meeting Robert.
“Can we give you one?” Natasha asks. “Maybe it’ll show you why we all call each other by them.”
“No, I’m good but thank you.” I decline, sipping back more of my drink.
“Come on! It’ll be fun! I’ll start,” Jake saunters over to me, a few too many whiskey shots clear in his wobbling stride. Jake stares at me a long time before giving his first suggestion. “Ghost.”
“Do I get to know the reason behind them before I decline?” I ask. I feel Robert slip his arm around my shoulders as he pulls me against his side. He presses a gentle kiss to my temple, sensing that I don’t want this and telling me to just let it happen.
“You’re ghostly pale. I’d also accept Casper as a submission.” Jake snickers at his own joke.
“Haha. Very funny. I’m sorry I don’t get gorgeously tan like the rest of you in the San Diego sun.” Robert smirks, remembering the amount of times he’s had to rub aloe on my back because I forgot to apply sunscreen.
“What about Sparky? You and that quick wit of yours could get us in trouble in the air.” Bradley quips, setting down the pool cue after winning the game against Jake.
“Not as bad but still, no. I don’t see the point. Just call me Y/N.” Robert starts picking at a tear in his jeans, a clear sign he’s nervous.
“Okay okay. Fine. Bobby old pal why don’t you try? You know her the best anyway.” Jake suggests as he calls at Natasha to wrack the balls for a game of nine ball.
“Um, I’d have to think.” Robert murmurs.
“Just look at her and say the first thing that comes to mind.” Natasha suggests.
I turn and meet Robert’s crystal clear blue eyes and forget for a moment that we’re surrounded by his friends. Robert’s eyes scan every inch of my face before landing back on my eyes. I smile at him, feeling completely content in this moment.
“Angel.” He says. My heart melts at the smile that dawns his face.
“Robert.” I say softly, hearing my voice falter slightly at the sweetness of the nickname.
“Because you saved me. And because you give off this…this light. I know that I’m safe when I’m with you. And…and you…you’re so incredibly kind, to everyone,” Robert grabs both my hands and holds them in his own. “You’re perfect. And I’m so incredibly lucky to have you in my life.” Robert pulls his hands back and reaches into his pocket. My eyes fall to the small velvet box he opens in the palm of his hand before dropping down to one knee.
“Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, callsign ‘Angel,’ will you do me the extraordinary honor of becoming my wife?” Robert’s eyes never leave mine as the tears start rolling down my cheeks. I sniffle as I get on both knees in front of him. I stare at this handsome man who is asking me to be his forever.
“Robert William Floyd, callsign ‘Bob,’ yes, yes I will marry you.” Robert breaks out in the biggest smile I have ever seen as he takes the ring and slides it onto my finger.
Robert grabs both sides of my face and kisses me passionately. The kiss is so full of love I fall for him all over again. I feel him wiping away the tears on my cheeks as he pulls back and wraps me in the warmest, tightest hug imaginable. I hear cheering from the entire bar as Robert pulls back and kisses me again.
“I love you so much.” He whispers, just for me to hear in this intimate moment of ours.
“I love you so much.” I whisper back as I wipe a tear from his cheek.
Once Robert has helped me off the floor, he picks me up and swings me around as the Hard Deck cheers loudly for us. I look over at Robert’s friends and notice they’re all standing there with sheepish grins on their faces.
”You knew!” I shout, pointing at all of them.
“Of course we knew!” Jake says, running over to give me a massive hug as he too spins me around.
“That’s why you brought up callsigns. It gave him an entrance.” I decipher the evenings events.
“You caught us.” Bradley comments as he wraps me in a warm, grounding hug. Natasha soon follows with a gentle squeeze.
“Congratulations you two.” I hear Pete say. I turn to him and laugh quietly as Robert wraps a protective arm around my waist.
“Thank you sir.” Robert says.
“You’re glowing.” Penny says to me as she hands me Robert’s phone with a video of the whole thing pulled up.
“Is that why you offered to get my drink? So you could get them to record?” I ask Robert.
“Yeah, but I’m also just a pure southern gentleman, so I had to get my lady a drink.” Robert fakes tipping a cowboy hat as he presses a kiss to my cheek. I feel myself turn bright red as Penny announces to the bar that everyone gets a free round on the house in honor of the happily engaged couple. There’s lots more cheers as Robert drags me out to the beach behind the bar.
The two of us pick a spot in the sand and sit down as we stare at the waves crashing along the shore. I lean my head against his chest as he wraps his jacket around my shoulders and keeps his arm draped around my waist. I can feel Robert’s steady heartbeat through his button-up as I feel my chest fill with warmth. I raise my left hand in the moonlight and watch the glitter of the small diamond in the center of the ring.
“Are you happy?” Robert asks soothingly.
“Incredibly. Are you?” I question, looking up at him from beneath my lashes.
“More than you will ever know.” He responds as he leans down to give me a soft kiss underneath the moonlight, interlocking our fingers as he brushes his thumb over the ring that now rests on my finger.

Christmas Cheer (Bob x Girlfriend)
Tumblr media
Summary: Spending Christmas with the Floyd’s was an exciting prospect when Bob invited you. Now that you’re here, you can’t imagine a more perfect place to be for the holidays.
Warnings: A bit suggestive at the end but no actual smut, mentions of losing a family member, Bob being adorable!
Word count: 1,353
Author’s Note: Happy holidays to anyone who celebrates them! In honor of the holiday season, enjoy this fluffy Bob story. (Credit to gif owner)
——————————————————————
Robert Floyd was going to be the death of you. Sitting in his mom’s living room, wrapped in one of the hand-sewn quilts she gave him as a kid, his sweater warm around your figure, watching him help his little sisters make Christmas cookies was sending your heart into overdrive. His face is illuminated by the many Christmas candles his mother lit earlier as he instructs his youngest sister Emily how to make a ball out of a chunk of the dough. He looks beautiful. His eyes are sparkling with love for his family. He glances over his shoulder and catches you staring. He gives you a small grin before Emily calls his attention back to the baking sheet.
”I’m so glad he brought you with him this year.” Bob’s mom, Mary, says from the armchair in the corner of the living room.
“I’m really glad he invited me. Thank you for welcoming me into your home. It’s beautiful.” Mary had set up the guest room for me to stay in for the week. She even told Bob he was welcome to share the room with me. I don’t have the heart to tell her he probably would’ve snuck in if she hadn’t.
“It’s really our pleasure sweetie. He’s so in love with you it’s beautiful. He’s never looked at anyone the way he looks at you.” Mary continues, taking a sip from the cocoa she made. I go and pick up my cup as I pull the quilt tighter around my shoulders.
“He’s perfect. In every way. I’m beyond lucky to have him.” I speak honestly with a long sip of cocoa to warm my body.
“Robby dear would you hurry up and finish those cookies so we can watch this movie?” Mary calls to the kitchen.
“We’re almost done Mama. Emily and Sarah keep playing with the dough.” Robert calls back, snatching the rolling pin from Sarah’s grasp.
“He’s great with them. I was worried it wouldn’t work because of the age gap between them but he’s amazing. I don’t know why I was ever worried in the first place.” Mary explains. Sarah is the middle child, with seventeen years between her and Robert. Mary got pregnant early with her first and only son.
“He really is amazing. Whenever he visits me at work the kids go crazy. They love him. He tells them the most amazing stories about his flying.” I continue to tell her about my students in my third grade class as Robert, Sarah, and Emily finish the cookies. He scoops both of them up and carries them over to the couch, throwing them down as they giggle hysterically. Once Robert’s arms are empty, he falls down next to me and wraps a warm arm around my shoulders, pressing a soft kiss to my temple.
“Ewww!” Emily coos from the other end of the L-shaped couch. Robert turns and sticks his tongue out as he makes a big show of pulling me into his lap and hugging me close. I keep up the façade as I wrap the quilt around his broad shoulders, cocooning us both in warmth. Robert and I start laughing as Emily and Sarah start chanting,
“Y/N and Robby sittin in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.”
“I’m sorry about them.” Robert whispers as he strokes my cheek with his thumb.
“Don’t apologize. They’re adorable. And remember, I work with ten times as many children on the daily.” I start playing with Robert’s curls as he readjusts me to turn around. The two of us lay out on the couch, Robert with his back against the couch with his legs straight out in front of him and me leaning back against his chest.
“Alright! Start the movie Mama.” Robert calls.
The intro to How the Grinch Stole Christmas starts playing as Emily and Sarah climb over to me and Robert. Emily cuddles up into my side as Sarah snuggles into Robert’s. I cover Emily with the quilt as we all sit and watch a furry green creature with a heart two sizes too small plot his revenge against the whos.
Halfway through the movie, the timer for the cookies goes off and Robert untucks himself from our cuddle pile to take them out of the oven. While he’s gone, the girls each tuck themselves under one of my arms. I feel myself fill with warmth at the idea of this sweet family accepting me into their tight circle. I let my head rest against Emily’s, a small smile creeping it’s way onto my face. When Robert comes back over, he slides behind all of us and wraps his arms around all three of the girls on the couch. I turn and see Mary wiping a tear from her eye and I make a mental note to ask her about it later.
”I love you.” I hear Robert whisper in my ear.
“I love you more.” I reply.
“Never.” He answers with a soft kiss to the top of my head.
Once the movie ends, the five of us get up and head to the kitchen. Mary tells the girls they can each have two cookies. She tells me and Robert to help ourselves. We smile and thank her as we all grab two cookies. We sit at the table and enjoy each other’s company.
”So Robby, when are you gonna make this young woman a Floyd?” Mary asks.
“Mama!” Robert exclaims.
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” I reassure him. “We’ve talked about it. We’re kind of just enjoying each other’s company. Whatever happens will happen.” I explain as I place my hand on Robert’s thigh.
“That’s amazing.” Mary says. Robert relaxes under my touch as we all finish off our cookies.
We all decide to turn in for the night after we wash the dishes and fold the quilt. I follow Robert upstairs to the guest room while everyone else stays downstairs. He interlocks his fingers with mine as he leads the way. Once the door is closed, Robert kisses me softly on the lips. I smile into it as he pulls me closer by my hips.
”You’re amazing. You know that right?” He whispers after pulling back to look at me.
“You’re incredible. You know that right?” I reply, pulling myself against his chest for a warm hug.
“The girls love you. Every single one of them. Mama told me I’ve never looked happier and she’s right. Emily said you looked like a princess and Sarah said you remind her of a star shining super bright in the sky.” Robert strokes my back as we just stand there enjoying each other’s warmth and comfort.
“I love them too. They’ve been so welcoming and lovely. I adore your mother. She’s so strong for pushing through after your father.” I can tell it’s hard on all four of them. Robert’s father died last year right after Thanksgiving. Ever since then, they say the holidays haven’t been the same.
“I know you feel this immense pressure to live up to him, but you don’t need to worry. You’re amazing and your family adores you.”
“Thank you, darling. I needed to hear that,” Robert pauses as he pulls back and leads me over to sit on the bed. “My mom gave me her ring today. I figure whenever we’re ready, we’ll make a plan to come back here, engaged next time.” Robert smiles happily, but with a smidge of nerves.
“I’d love that.” I state simply.
“Good. Because I don’t know how much longer I can go without calling you my wife.” Robert smiles as I lean in to kiss him slowly.
“Thank you for inviting me.” I whisper against his lips.
“Of course, baby. They’ve been dying to meet you.” I pull back and run my hands over Robert’s arms.
“I love you in a fluffy sweater.” I feel myself blush as I reach underneath the hem and start pulling it over his head. “But I’d love if you’d take it off.”
“Careful, darling. Remember my mama is just downstairs.” He murmurs.
“I know. We’ll be quiet.” I insist.
“We’ll see about that.” Robert teases as he grabs my thighs and pulls me up into his lap.
The Christmas cheer is all around indeed.

Baby Names (Rooster x Wife Reader)
Tumblr media
Part Two is up!! :)))
Summary: After giving birth to their beautiful new baby, Maverick and the rest of Rooster’s team come to visit the new parents in the hospital where Bradley asks a pretty serious question and reveals what they’ve decided to name their baby.
Warnings: Mentions of birth. Other than that, this is pure fluff!
Word count: 1,542
Author’s Note: My first post! Please be gentle lol. Anyways, I hope to do a part two, I already have it written lol. I also have a lot of other ideas, so if you like this, please let me know! Enjoy! (Credit to gif owner)
——————————————————————
After 36 hours of labor and four hours of pushing, our beautiful baby girl is finally here, and she is the most perfect thing you could ever imagine. She got her father’s beautiful brown eyes and wavy brown hair and my perky little nose and heavy lower lip. Bradley swears that she looks exactly like me, but I will argue the point that his daughter is the spitting image of him until my dying breath.
Looking at him sitting in the chair and holding her against his bare chest brings tears to my eyes. I’m too tired to wipe them away, so I just let them stream down my face as Bradley stares down at our gorgeous new baby.
“She’s perfect.” He whispers as he stands up and comes to put her back in my arms. I sniffle as Bradley wraps his arm around me and puts his hand underneath our daughter’s head, his other supporting her legs. I hold her back with both of my arms as the two of us stare down at this tiny human I grew inside me for almost nine months.
“She really is.” I murmur as I start stroking her chubby cheeks with my thumb.
“Well, since we know she’s a girl, you thinking what I’m thinking?” Bradley whispers, kissing the top of my head.
“Yeah. I think that name’s perfect. She even looks like her name.” I note as her eyes start to lull closed.
Bradley and I both look up when we hear the knock on the door.
”Come in.” Bradley calls out. The door slides open and in walks the rest of the dagger squad. The first however, Jake.
“Uncle Jake is here baby!” He celebrates as he walks up to me and looks down at the angel in my arms. Jake’s eyes soften for the slightest second before he returns to his usual cocky, confident demeanor.
“You’re gonna be a heartbreaker just like me.” He declares as Natasha steps up next to him.
“Get out of the way. Auntie Nat wants to hold this sweet child. Only if it’s okay with mom of course.” Nat stops midway to grabbing the baby and looks at me for confirmation. I nod as Bradley and I lift our daughter into her arms.
“Oh she’s perfect.” She coos as she starts rocking the baby.
Now that I’m not holding the baby, Bradley hugs me tightly as Hangman waits his turn. After Bradley lets me go and gets up to hug everyone else, Jake leans down and hugs me, whispering in my ear,
“Did I ever tell you I’ve got a thing for milfs?” He snickers as I shove him back. I start laughing too as my cheeks turn red. I probably look exhausted and teary eyed and have messy hair but I could care less.
After Jake comes Javy, Reuben, and Mickey. They each hug me before stepping back to look at the baby in Natasha’s arms. They smile down at her before turning back to me.
“I can’t believe that came out of you.” Javy comments, glancing down at Bradley and I’s daughter once more.
“7 pounds 4 ounces.” I state.
“Damn!” Reuben exclaims. “Already killing it in the mom business.”
“Well thank you. I couldn’t have done it without Bradley though.” I look over at my husband who is talking to Robert. He hears me say his name and turns to look at me. He gives me a thumbs up and I nod. I know Robert feels slightly uncomfortable being here but I want to make sure he’s okay and so does Bradley.
“Congratulations Y/N,” Mickey says. “I’m sorry we can’t stay long but we’ve got training to get too. You two coming?” He gestures to Reuben and Javy.
“Yeah man right behind you. Congrats mom.” Javy says.
“Get some rest. We’ll see you soon, hopefully with the new little one.” Reuben adds as the three exit the room.
“Thanks for stopping by guys. Be careful.” I call out.
I know it seems stupid to tell them to be careful when flying jets, but it brings me a sense of comfort. Now with much less people in the room, Robert makes his way over to me. He sits at the edge of my bed while Natasha and Jake fight over who’s gonna be the better aunt or uncle. Little do they know that I trust neither of them with my baby. They both would spoil her rotten. Robert doesn’t say anything to me, he just leans forward and wraps me in an amazingly warm hug. I hug him back as tight as I can, him having no idea how grateful I am to have him in my life. He will be the only pilot I leave my baby girl with other than my husband and Pete. Before Robert pulls back he looks me in the eyes and whispers,
“You’re gonna be an amazing mom. I can’t wait to watch this experience change you for the better. I’m so proud of you.” I watch a tear slip down his cheek and I wipe it away with my thumb.
“Thank you for being in my life, Robert. You have no idea how much you mean to me.” I pull him back into a hug and think about how far we’ve come as friends. I’ve known him since middle school. He’s always been dorky. I have him to thank for my marriage. Without him, Bradley and I would’ve never even net. Robert pulls back and sniffles a bit before turning to Natasha and Jake.
“Alright you two, let’s go. Let her get some rest. God knows she needs it.” Robert smiles as Natasha hands him the baby and he hands her back to Bradley. Bradley smiles as Jake claps him on the shoulder.
“Don’t drop the baby bro.” Jake taunts. Bradley glares at him before breaking out into a smile and a laugh.
“That’s the last thing I’d do.” Bradley retorts. As the three of them are leaving I hear Natasha call out.
“Hey Mav. She’s beautiful! Looks just like her dad.”
“See I told you!” I call to Bradley. “Mini you!”
“Whatever.” Bradley comes and lays by me again, placing our daughter in my arms. We both smile down at her as Pete knocks to come in.
“Hey Pete.” I say as I meet his green eyes.
“Hey, how’re you feeling?” He questions as he sets a beautiful bouquet of roses on the side table. I smile at them, noticing they aren’t red but yellow. A happy color for a happy day. Pete has always been easy to read.
“I’m exhausted but it’s worth it for her.” Pete looks down at Bradley and I’s daughter with amazement.
“She’s a mini Goose.” He murmurs more to himself than anyone else. Bradley is watching Pete with intent, waiting for the perfect time to ask the question.
“I’m so happy for you, Y/N. You’re gonna be an amazing mother.” Pete wipes a tear from my cheek as he places his hand gently on our daughter’s head.
“Well, speak of that. We had a question we wanted to ask you, Mav.” Bradley says.
“Anything.” Pete says as he watches our daughter yawn and he reaches towards her small hand. She finds his finger and holds on tight. Pete’s smile is so effortless it brings a smile to Bradley’s face.
“You know how dangerous the job we do is. So, Y/N and I were wondering if you and Penny would be godparents?” At the word “godparents,” Pete’s eyes shoot up and lock with Bradley’s.
“Are you serious?” He questions.
“100%.” Bradley responds, gripping Pete’s shoulder to ground him.
“I’d have to talk to Penny but I’d love to. Thank you.” Pete walks around the bed to give Bradley a big hug. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Anything.”
“Do I get to know my goddaughter’s name?” Pete questions. Bradley looks at me with a warm smile.
“Well, we wanted to honor the people she’ll never get to meet to show her how amazing they were. Plus, like you said, she’s a mini Goose. So, in honor of Nick and Carole, we named her Caroline Nicole Bradshaw.” I explain and Bradley wraps an arm around my shoulders and stares down at his daughter with pride.
“Maybe she does look a little like me.” He admits finally.
“That’s perfect.” Pete whispers as he comes to look at her again.
The three of us sit there for a long time, simply staring at this beautiful creation Bradley and I made. I think we could’ve stared at her for hours, talking about how she has Goose’s ears or Carole’s cheeks, but Pete gets a call from Tom and he apologizes that he has to leave. We give him hugs and wish him good luck before turning back to our daughter and reveling in her beauty once again.
”I’m the luckiest guy in the world.” Bradley says to me with a tear escaping down his cheek. “I get to call the two most beautiful women in the world mine. What more could a guy ask for?” Bradley leans down and gives me a soft kiss filled with love before leaning down and doing the same with Caroline.
