The world is full of all types of people, but in Theolia the citizens are divided in five stereotypes: Individuals, Helpers, Achievers, Loyalists and Liars.
The status of one is determined by the type of scar on their neck: Individuals have a thin horizontal line, Helpers have a small dot like a birthmark, Achievers have a U shaped mark, a small flower is etched on the necks of Loyalists whereas the ones without a mark are Liars.
Over the years, the liars in Theolia are going lesser, almost extinct. Probably because of the shame and fear of mistreatment from the society but, most importantly the punishment given by the ruler of Theolia, King Yanric.
There is only one principle in Theolia: You define Yourself
The Keoghs have a reputation of not giving birth to a single liar in their history, no one has ever lied in their ancestry, for which they are proud…._maybe a little too much_.
The youngest in their family, Erline, is kept away from the dark side of Theolia, she doesn’t know why she has the line on the right side of her neck, she doesn’t know that she shouldn’t lie. She doesn’t know why her scar disappeared one morning.
The 15-year-old struggles to understand why she was being taken to the dark palace. She isn’t aware that she is unsafe.
