yes ghost is the scariest looking member of the 141, but price is the one that i wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. he's unpredictable because he's constantly switching between morality and military as the guide to his actions. he's loyal as hell but also willing to cut ties whenever someone doesn't serve him anymore. he's committed to the greater good but his definition of what the greater good is isn't solid. he's insubordinate. he has connections. so yeah, ghost might be scary, but he does what he's told. price does not.

How to write friendships
Well-written relationships between characters are what makes a story beloved. And while writing romance has it's own difficulties, it's even more tricky to write good and believable friendships.
What role do friends play in a story?
It depends a bit on if the friendship is between MCs or if the MC is friends with side-characters. The friendship with another MC could be the focus of the story and driving point for the plot. But the friendship with a side-character could help your MC to rant about their problems, to get a second opinion, to get an honest truth, to see a situation from another perspective and to realize that they are not alone in this. They can also be helpful to show your MCs regular life outside of whatever special happens to them in the story and helps to show why your MC is the way they are.
Types of friends
the best friend
the friend group
the situational friend
the old friend
The best friend - they share almost anything with each other, their opinions matter, able to tell them off if they are wrong, closest thing to a sibling, people know them as a duo
The friend group - in on all the tea, give honest opinions, help out where they can, can have deep, but also very casual scenes
The situational friend - friends because of circumstances (having classes together, being on the same sports team, having mutual friends), are friends when they see each other, don't really seek each other out outside of that situation, knowing about specific parts of each other's life, but not other parts and wouldn't share deep conversations
The old friend - think about childhood friend vs. college friend - the friends have met in completely different parts of each other's lives, know each other in different ways and probably have a different understanding of each other, the old friend would probably not know everything about their life right now, but they still fall back into old patterns with each other (good and bad)
Give them something in common & some differences
Humans like to flock together with people with similar interests, personalities and lives. So give your fictional friends things they have in common. Sharing the same goal, liking the same things, having compatible personalities, having the same outlook on life,...
But friends are not a carbon copy of each other. Give them some differences that don't hurt their friendship in the long run, but rather some that can the characters can build off of these differences. Taking advice from a friend who has more experience with something, a friend who sees things a bit different, or becoming more confident because of their friend's confidence.
More tips
Make sure to give the friends their own life. They are not just there to bounce ideas off with your MC. They should have their own goals and personalities. Make sure they could be their own character without the MC.
To have a friendship that the reader likes and roots for, you have to make sure that the reader can see why they are friends. The quite, nerdy kid is not going to be best friends with the loud, edgy, popular kid without a believable reason. Why would they hang out if they have nothing in common? Having been friends since kindergarten is not enough of a reason to still be best friends in high school if they have nothing to talk about and don't like to do the same things and if their personalities just don't match at all.

Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.

This is your reminder that you are brilliant.
Your voice and writing style is unique and is unlike any other author/writer. Stop comparing your work to other artists.
There is only one YOU!
Only YOU can write your WIP the way it is supposed to be written. No one can replicate what you’re capable of.

Blowing a kiss to Johnny “Soap” MacTavish is like pulling the pin on a glitter grenade—you never know where the spark’s gonna land.
It’s always a gamble.
You think you’re being cute.
You think he’ll catch it with a wink, maybe tap his heart like a gentleman.
One moment he’s beaming, catching it mid-air with dramatic flair like it’s a bloody dove, eyes glinting like he’s just intercepted enemy comms. Smacking it dramatically onto his chest with a proud “Ach! Right in the ticker! you spoil me, bonnie.” he’ll murmur, staggering backward like you just shot him with a Cupid .50 cal.
The crowd swoons. Children cheer. Birds sing.
The next time?
Public place. Full squad around. Briefing room. You blow that kiss and he catches it with two hands… locks eyes with you… then—with full confidence and zero shame—plants it straight on his crotch. Smack. Hands on his hips. Grinning like a menace. “That’s where I felt it, lass. Don’t lie.”
Everyone turns.
Gaz groans. Ghost doesn’t even look up. Alejandro claps. And Price? He sighs, pinches the bridge of his nose, and mutters, “For the love of bloody God, Soap…”
Soap just winks at you across the room like he did you a favor.
It’s 50/50 chaos. You blow that kiss, you’re playing Russian Roulette with your dignity.

Silly ramble:
Playing missions with the Vaqueros is wild to me sometimes, because sometimes my brain refuses to hear/(understand) the Spanish like "nope nuh uh we have never learned a lick of Spanish wtf you mean."
And other times my brain understands every bit of it and it distracts from the English dialogue (not a bad thing, just a thing) and I'm just like oh fr?
Like it's cool when my brain does cool things, like yay I'm not losing what I've learned ! But also *squints* make up ur mind hottie.

bad writing advice
This is why I hate writer groups.
Writer: I can't get an acceptance!
Group: Clearly your query/writing/etc sucks.
This is WRONG. LOTR would DOA in today's market. If you're not writing for Booktok, your odds of success are slim.

Write the plot twist. Write the forbidden romance. Write the line that makes your readers slam the book shut and SCREAM.
If you feel things when writing, your reader will too.

i think a good counter to the idea that “being exposed to queer shit makes you queer”/“you’re only *enter identity here* because you read about it online” is simply how many of us are exposed to ALL KINDS of queer identities and only end up identifying as the one we are. sure it may come after some experimentation and sexuality/gender are fluid, but i think you can understand my point.
i’ve been in community with aro/ace friends learning about their experiences, issues, and how to support them and yet i’ve never thought i was aro/ace. thousands of cis queer people are in community with trans friends and none of them decide to trans their gender because of it.
it also follows that, of course people subconsciously seek out labels that they feel fit them. when i learned about being aromantic my reaction was “cool! i’m glad people have a label for them. anyway, isn’t my partner soooo hot im so attracted to them” but when i found out about nonbinary people my reaction was “HOLY SHIT, THATS AN OPTION?!?!?!?!” followed by the past SIX YEARS of learning and questioning.
