I know Dan Povenmire said "Ferb" was short for "Ferbs" but he also said Ferb was born on February 29th so I have a headcanon I like more which is that "Ferb" is a nickname for "February." They named him after the month because he just barely made it into being born in it, thanks only to the leap day.
