dean picks up a nasty smoking habit after he’s been around enough dive bars to know he doesn’t really like the way cheap booze leaves a searing, churning in his belly. smokes give him a nice head rush, his bones drop—heavy and light at the same time.

dean’s outside leaning against the truck bed, lit up end of a cigarette wafting smoke from the corner of his clamped mouth. sam barges over, heaving, trying to look like he’s not. asks, “you’re just going to tell me that and walk away?”

inhaling deep, choking down the cough that wants to dredge up every horrible thought dean’s had about his kid brother, dean scuffs his feet against the gravel and looks down. “yep.”

“screw you, dean.” it comes out of sam raw, clawed its way through his throat. sam steps closer until dean has no choice but to feel how near he is. “maybe you should’ve kept it to yourself, then.”

dean’s head floats on the edge of a migraine, airy and swelled at his temples. he feels fucking high. his fingers pinch the butt, pull it free long enough to meet sam head-on. he licks his lips and catches sam’s eyes stutter to the movement.

one more drag in, dean leans in. smoke billows out against sam’s face and the putrid face he pulls twists a knife into dean’s chest. his limbs whir, the center of him aches. nothing he says will make it go away, now that it’s out there, but his terror is a blunt thing, far from him.

“what do i do with it?” sam asks wretchedly. and dean knows the feeling. he just doesn’t know, either.

dean beckons him. “c’mere.” when sam doesn’t listen, dean says, a little harsher, “sammy, c’mere.”

sam shuffles forward awkwardly. dean doesn’t want to think anymore. he wraps his free hand around sam’s nape, sweaty from the muggy heat. brings sam to his mouth and holds him there, kissing him with the bitter tang of nicotine clung to his lips.

and sam. he stiffens. for a paralyzing moment he goes ramrod straight in dean’s grasp. then, his shoulders sag and his hand reaches for dean’s loose shirt, right where his stomach is. he kisses back but a salty wetness trickles between their mouths. dean laps it up, loves this, hates himself for loving it so much.

after that, dean picks up drinking again. he needs the queasy burn. an excuse for the bile at the base of his throat. sometimes he smokes, still. only on the nights he’s prepared to blackout.

i’ve said before that i’m not 100% sure about many things but what i’m positive about is:

1. sam sucks on the samulet when he and dean fuck (if it happens before dsotm)

2. dean cries when he jerks off thinking about sam (and when isn’t he)

3. dean molested sam’s dead body in ahbl (and he cried during that too)

Dean has a very specific kink.
