MCYT Femslash Bingo!
After seeing the efforts of @mcyt-yuri-week, and after many months of wanting more sapphic content, I have decided that I should at least try and make something else fun for the community to participate in. So I present to you MCYT Femslash Bingo!
This event will take place between December 5th and February 5th and the tag will be #mcyt femslash bingo.
This event is for all types of fan content, though there are some rules. First of all, one piece of fan content can only count for one of the squares, even if it fits multiple. While I won’t outright ban any genderbent or transfem canonically male characters, I would prefer it if we could give some light to the canonically female characters since they are often tossed aside for male characters. Fans of those character might really appreciate the chance to get more content of them, you know?
I decided to do something a little weird and make four different bingo cards each based on one of the four elements! This means that, not counting the free spaces, there are 96 different prompts to choose from! You don't have to get bingo on all cards (or even one card if you don't want to) but it could be fun to try!

TNTDuo Day could have been on the anniversary of when Quackity left Wilbur the note, or when Wilbur went to see Quackity in Las Nevadas, or the day Quackity challenged Wilbur in the election or joined Pogtopia. So many choices.
Instead we all, independently, decided the best day to celebrate their complicated and weird relationship was the anniversary of the day they rolled on the floor trying to beat the shit out of each other while Tubbo watched.
.... Good on us.

Hi hello fellow trans and queer ppl.
Let’s fucking stop with this “cracking eggs” thing? with potential trans ppl?
Like, motherfuckers, you know what happens when you crack an egg that isn’t ready to hatch yet? IT FUCKING DIES. If you crack an egg that isn’t already hatched, it FUCKING DIES.
So maybe stop trying to fucking “crack” eggs that aren’t out already. It’s almost as if our society is not particularly trans-friendly and there could be any number of reasons why someone wouldn’t be happy to be “cracked”, let alone the fact that people can be femme or masc and still not be trans.
Just stop.
Don’t crack eggs.
It’s not good for anyone.
If they’re an egg, they’ll hatch when they’re ready. Maybe focus your efforts on building a place where eggs are comfortable settling to hatch.

When we were sort of in a more golden age of dsmp meta, one of my favorite topics was about Tommy and grief and how grief/mourning painted so much of his story. We saw it through all of his major arcs -- grief for Wilbur and his home and his place among his friends and lost possessions and mourning for that lost sense of brotherhood and uncomplicated adventures and the part of himself that felt gone forever.
Then we got Tommy's sort of healing era. He built things. He tried to reestablish bonds with Ranboo and Tubbo. He had setbacks, yeah, with the prison and Wilbur returning and unearthing all that unresolved anger and grief, but he was trying. In a perfect world, he would have made it.
Instead he consistently showed he was trapped in that cycle of grief and mourning while the narrative continuously (and far too much) punished him for it. The continued loss of pets, his home, his friends and possessions just kept that mindset fresh in his mind that he was always missing something.
And then Wilbur left and we see Tommy spiral. That's the only word for it, isn't it? He isolated himself in a cave that they, flat out, said was a bit like Pogtopia. He refused to talk to people. He refused to even be seen by people. He isolated himself in his anger and grief over losing the same person again and began to talk to some idealized version of Wilbur that couldn't leave.
Then, in the midst of his spiral, he started a chain of events that ended up killing him. On top of all the parallels to Tommy and S1 Wilbur we could make, we end up with sort of the saddest conclusion November 16th could have ever set up.
Tommy died from his grief and his (and the story's) inability to process it.
If you had told me a year ago that Wilbur would have gotten the conclusion where he had to process and face the worst parts of himself and choose, regardless, to live? I wouldn't have believed you. It was messy, but there was hope laced through it everywhere and despite some fumbles along the way, it was a surprisingly satisfying to see a character so often struggling to stay above the water get some sort of self care.
And Tommy, who Wilbur literally describes as hope and a reason to figure himself out, doesn't make it. Hope died in the chest where it was left.
As interesting as I find the continuation of that grief theme, it's still hard to wash out the bitterness that leaves in my mouth.

dsmp fans be like we need more lgbt/women/creators of color on the server and then actively ignore and belittle the egg arc which is one of the few storylines so far to have cc in all 3 of those categories take center stage

Remember that time Quackity was all confused people thought the discs were what Tommy thought was most valuable and was like "nah the most valuable thing to Tommy is Wilbur Soot" and we were all like "holy fuck cc!Quackity understands Tommy's character better than half his fans"

Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP
(Non-authors, please RB to signal boost to your author friends!)
An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:
(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)
I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:
IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.
You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:
HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:
First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.
Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.
Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.
In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.

In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:
I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission. I originally published this story in [date/year] on [name of site], and have provided a link to the original above. On request, I can provide documentation proving that I am the owner of the account that originally posted this story.
In the ASIN/ISBN-10 field, copy and paste the ID number from the pirated copy's URL. You'll find this ten-digit number in the Amazon URL after the word "product," as in the screenshot below. (If the URL extends beyond this number, you can ignore everything from the question mark on.) Once this number has been added, Amazon will pull the product information automatically and add it to the complaint form, so you can check the listing title and make sure it's correct.

Finally, add your contact information to the relevant fields, check the "I have read and accept the statements" box, and then click Submit. You should receive an email confirmation that Amazon has received the form.
Please share this information with your writer friends, keep an eye out for/report pirated works, and help us keep fanfiction free and legally protected!
NOTE: All of the above also applies to Amazon products featuring stolen artwork, etc., so fan artists should check too!

🚨🚨🚨URGENT
dec 13, 2022
we literally have just a few days to act. the senate is debating about putting KOSA, the Kids Online Safety Act, into the end-of year spending bill. despite the title and content of the bill seeming to be about protecting kids, we know that everytime someone claims they are "saving the children" they have more sinister goals
which is why Senator Blumenthal is working with one of the biggest transphobes in the senate, Marsha Blackburn, to force this bill through.
essentially this bill gives every state attorney generals the power to remove anything they deem 'harmful' to kids online. you can see how a state like Texas or Florida would run with that, yes? it also forces you to upload your government ID online to access the internet. it will lead to mass censorship of anything related to race or LGBT content. in a post-Roe world too? say goodbye to any abortion/sex-related info.
they are doing a shit ton of PR for this, including claiming they are listening to LGBT voices. i mean just lo
two weeks ago, 90+ human rights, LGBT, and tech orgs signed onto an open letter telling Senators NOT to pass this bill. in response, over 230 orgs led by the American Psychological Association signed a letter urging senators to. it's really fucking bad. i didn't expect this to happen.
if this bill goes through it will literally kill off the internet as we know it
please, read about the bill here
the best way to fight against this bill is to call your senators. however if you're short on time call chuck schumer (senate leader) and tell him NOT to include this in the spending bill
call chuck schumer (202) 224-6542 and tell him DO NOT ADD KOSA TO THE SPENDING BILL
call script below
Hello Senator __:
My name is _, and as one of your constituents, I strongly urge you to oppose the dangerously misguided KOSA bill from being added to the spending bill. Over 90 human rights and LGBT organizations have spoken out against this bill.
KOSA gives state attorney generals full power to sue any online website if they see it has anything that is “inappropriate for children”'. For the past year, Republicans claimed anything LGBT is “grooming” children and we ended up with a shooting in Colorado and bomb threats sent to hospitals, NO senator should support a bill with vague phrasing like this. KOSA will only lead to more harm towards minorities and LGBT youth across the nation by censoring everything online.
The Heritage Foundation said they intend to abuse KOSA to target LGBT kids, specifically trans kids. In a post-Roe world, they will even use KOSA to censor resources on abortion. Anything they dislike will be targeted.
KOSA also would lead to age verification, eventually forcing you to upload your government ID online just to access anything. How is this more security? How is this protecting any minor? What will happen to undocumented, journalists, activists, trans people who all need anonymity? This bill HARMS kids by showing their private info to strangers online and stealing resources from them. This gives MORE power to Big Tech.
We all care about kids mental health. We all want to hold Big Tech accountable, but this is NOT it. This will give Big Tech more power while taking away resources from the most vulnerable children. It is not the solution.
Please, do NOT support this bill. Do the right thing, and VOTE NO on KOSA.
