i am SO PROUD OF YOU!!

so I realise in the scheme of the world it’s not a big thing but:

Yesterday I did a survey at my uni regarding their disability inclusion plan, it was online and anon, but for the first time in my life I checked the LGBTQIA+ box. And for me it felt kinda momentous.

It’s kinda cool how someone can just pop into your life all of a sudden and become so important to you within such a small amount of time. I think that’s what makes life so interesting though. There’s always a reason to be hopeful for the future because you never know what good things will come your way next.

The Doctor had lived for a thousand years, meeting thousands of people everyday, and yet his world stayed stubbornly grey. When he was a young time-lord he had hopes of finding his soulmate, but as each decade passed, his hope waned and waned, until he had almost completely given on thinking he could ever find his One.

The doctor knew better than anyone; The universe was vast and ever expanding. Meeting that one person within those confines seemed impossible. 

Of course, impossible has a funny way of working out.

Of all the ways the Doctor had imagined meeting his soulmate, running them over with a motorcycle, surprisingly, wasn’t one of them.

It was an unusually regular day. There were no aliens that needed stopping or people to save, so he was riding around London without Rose while exploring and messing about. He must've not been paying much attention to the road (Rose would kill him if she found out), because suddenly he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a hapless bystander.

The doctor jumped up, cursing in alien languages and he ran over to help the poor man up. “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t lookin-” his words are cut off when he looks into the strangers eyes.

In an instant the world blossomed into an explosion of color. Red, blues, greens, yellows, all swirling around in a joyous exclamation of soulmates. 

 They don’t say anything for a while, both frozen with shock and happiness at finally finding the one they were meant to be with. 

The man breaks the silence first with a flowing laugh, slowly standing to his feet. The Doctor joins in, he can’t help it. Of course, of course, this would be how he would meet his soulmate after so many years. How could he really expect anything else? 

The Doctor finally speaks. “I’m the Doctor.” he says, holding out his hand.

The man smiles, flashing his pearly white and taking his hand to shake. “Y/N.” 

“Well, Y/N, you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to meet you.”

a big part of being happy is being excited. be excited for everything - making a cup of tea, decorating your future apartment, seeing a friend again, falling in love unexpectedly, the next episode of a show you like, finishing something stressful, buying something you’ve been saving up for, a new album, sunsets, traveling, road trips, and the feeling of going to bed after a long day. think of something to be excited about and daydream about it often when you’re sad.

I think I’m going to try something new this year and give a monthly summary of what I’ve written and read. Would love to hear what you think of it. Sorry if I miss anyone from the read list - I’ll keep better track next this month.

Rauðr - Bjorn Ironside prompt:  Vikings, y/n pretending to be weak when a Khal wants to kill her for an offence but then shocks everyone by being a highly skilled fighter surprising everyone (any Vikings would be witness you choose) maybe they help her as well?

Shelter - John Shelby  prompt:  a protective short fic with John. The reader got hurt but won’t tell them why or what happened. Its frustrating but they wanna help

Unpopular opinion: straight people using “partner” to refer to their SO actually helps normalize the term so that lgbt folx can use it without automatically outing themselves to strangers. It also helps other straight ppl get comfortable with the fact that strangers aren’t entitled to information about other people’s gender or sexuality.
