About the project
This project is titled Older, it explores the idea of time and age. The subject of the project, a 10-year-old girl, is going through constant change so i decided to bring up pictures of her as a toddler and layer them over current pictures of her. Through the process of layering and using shaky old pictures, a beautiful illusion is created. Each of the pictures created is a mixture of several photographs, some from the same day and others years apart. The pictures of the girl at her current age by themselves lacked a certain depth that the layering of older pictures added. The layers told a story, the story of coming to age and growing up. There is a sense of movement in all of the pictures, indicating the quick passing of time. Before settling on the final method of layering, i had tested some images with layering only two or three pictures but they did not give off the right sense of movement. After many tests i discovered that the more images were layered together, the better, but it mainly depends on choosing the pictures that work best with each other.
