"...Half of people in 80 countries believe men make better political leaders, 40% believe men are better business executives and a quarter believe it is justified for men to beat their wives. These figures, from data collected between 2017 and 2022, were largely unchanged from the previous GSNI report, published in 2020, which used data from 2005 to 2014. 'My expectation was that we would see some progress, because nine out of every 10, I mean, how can it get any worse?' said Pedro Conceição, head of UNDP’s human development report office. 'And it was also a period in which we saw, for example, the #MeToo movement and a lot of visibility to the very shocking ways in which these bias norms affect women. Unfortunately, doing this exercise has been an experience of shock after shock. The first time that we released it, I was shocked with the magnitude [of biases], and this time around I was shocked with the lack of progress.' The biases result in barriers for women in politics, business and work, as well as the stripping away of their rights and human rights violations, said the researchers. Despite women being more educated and skilled than ever before, there was a 39% salary gap with men, they added... 'At the current rate of progress it will take 186 years to close gaps in legal protections. It also explains why, while there has been some progress on enacting laws that advance women’s rights, social norms continue to be deeply entrenched and pervasive.' ...'We have experienced a serious backlash and rollback of women’s rights, most notably in Afghanistan but also in the western world with the election of Donald Trump or in South Korea, where an anti-feminist president was elected recently,' said Stöckl. 'What makes me hopeful is that, in the majority, the younger part of the population clearly resents this backlash and is striving for an equal society.' The UN report calls for women’s economic contributions to society to be better recognised, including unpaid work, for laws and measures that ensure political participation to be enacted, and for more action to fight stereotypes. 'These views persist because of social and cultural norms that devalue women and reinforce men’s power, control and feelings of entitlement, as well as promoting beliefs that trivialise and normalise violence against women and even blame victims for their own abuse,' said Andrea Simon, director of the End Violence Against Women Coalition. 'It is these attitudes that can drive violent acts and behaviours and we can only truly prevent this violence by shifting these attitudes.'”
If you ever think women/feminists being "too mean" about men oppressing them is an actual problem in the real world, remember this study. The majority of the world is prejudiced against women. If you ever feel like saying, "Women can do bad things, too!!!" is in any way a radical, necessary statement, remember that a quarter of men think it's okay to beat women.

Harry calling Draco his nemesis despite the fact that Voldemort constantly tries to murder him is so funny. No other villain has to put up with this. Can you imagine if Superman was like "ah yes there's my nemesis" and shoved Lex Luther out of the way to talk to some random dude he had beef with in middle school? Voldemort really does spend 7 years being personally victimized by drarry.
No wonder by the of book 7 when Lucius is all "where's Draco?!"' Voldemort suggests that he has run off to "befriend Harry Potter." Presumably right before giving a long suffering sigh.

how are people even debating whether sam and dean would be exclusive?? be serious. dean winchester is literally the most possessive, obsessive man on this planet when it comes to sam—like, the emotional codependency is already off the charts. now toss in some incest and suddenly he’s ten times worse. dean would be feral. you think he's gonna share sam? with who?? absolutely not. he’d be all “if i can’t have him, no one can” energy, probably staring daggers at anyone who even thinks about sam too hard. man would turn into the clingiest, most jealous little freak and call it love. unhinged behavior.
and sam?? bro. sam would body slam someone for flirting with dean. all that soft boy energy? fake. he’s secretly a menace. he’d wrap himself around dean like a scarf and dare someone to try and peel him off. he’s not letting you get within a 10-foot radius, and if you do, he’s suddenly a 6’4” wall of nope. exclusivity is the bare minimum for those two. they’d be toxic, ride-or-die, painfully obsessed with each other—and honestly? they’d think it’s romantic...
#sam would SAY he’s ok with dean sleeping with other people#after all#dean only gets emotionally invested in him#but he would be an absolute stalker menace#scaring off anyone dean tried to hook up with#and he’s not above breaking someone’s bones if they’re too persistent#all the while telling dean ‘yeah you head out to the bar and find someone’#and ‘just because i don’t want to have a casual hookup doesn’t mean you can’t’#and ‘polyamory is a thing dean’#knowing the whole time that he will sneak out and ruin dean’s chances#and be back in time for dean to come home to#when dean says ‘slim pickins out there Sammy no one as good as what i got here’#sam just smiles and pretends it was a choice

it’s literally essential to the wincest dynamic that sam is a service bottom in this relationship (“dean, it’s fine! you can unload! that’s kinda what i’m here for” “you wanna take another swing? go ahead if it’ll make you feel better”)

Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.
I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.
2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)
3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited
Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.
Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).
Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.
Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

hey! Can you link of the high school rpf jared/jensen fic you just posted?
Hi! Sadly, that is all that exists of the high school rpf… it was an idea a friend and I were tossing back and forth a few years back.

Could you maybe reblog this post if you think respecting trans peoples' names and identities is a basic right and not a political opinion?
