14. Talk about the fic’s opening scene & how you approached it

Maybe this sounds bad on my part but I usually don’t really put like a lot of thought into opening scenes, unless they’re entirely vital to the plot or I’m opening with a bang. However, I did try to get across the feeling that Pep already had a crush on Jose and play into that awkward feeling of trying to talk to a crush about mundane things just so you can have the interaction but in hopes it’ll turn into something bigger.

23. How did you come up with the title?

Honestly at the time I was super obsessed with the song Silver Springs (one of Fleetwood Mac’s best songs imo), and the lyrics plus the backstory between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham reminded me so much of how I would imagine Jose and Pep in an omegaverse situation - especially considering that Stevie and Lindsey are literally soulmates and are unfortunately always in love with each other no matter how much they break apart (the iconic 1997 performance of that song is obviously amazing, but my personal favourite is the 2003 performance where Stevie Nicks changes the line “was I just a fool?” to “still I am a fool”, implying that she’s still in love with him despite knowing it’s a bad decision to make… UGH gets me every time istg).

27. Share a piece of lore you made up for the story

Undecided on whether this will be mentioned in the fic or not (if I ever do finish it), but Jose Jr eventually ends up with Cole Palmer and they go on to have a daughter together. So canonically, Cole Palmer is the father to Jose Mourinho’s granddaughter.

Oh, and Drogba also canonically calls Jose ‘mama’ or ‘maman’ half the time. Him and Frank Lampard are basically Jose’s adopted kids 🤣

Okay so since all of Jose and Pep’s really like children are adults, I basically based the kids off them if that makes sense. Matilde and Jose Je are Jose’s children and Valentina is Pep’s youngest.

I tried to keep the dates as similar to their real birthdays as possible. Matilde’s and Jose Jr’s are the exact same I believe (4 November 1996 and 2 February 2000). Pep isn’t as open about his family life but I am 99% sure his youngest was born somewhere between 2004-2006, but then looking at Jose’s managerial career along with Pep’s playing career, it was easier to fit her birthday in 2007, so Valentina is born 6 May 2007.

Also, in this, Jose leaves Barcelona about eighteen months earlier than he did in real life to accommodate for Jose Jr’s conception, pregnancy and birth. I felt weird with the idea of Jose Jr being conceived while Jose still worked for Barca, so I pushed it back a few months. With the managerial stuff too, Jose goes straight to managing Porto and doesn’t do anything with Benfica or the lower league Portuguese teams because in this, he’s trying to keep his children’s lives as stable as possible after their dad leaves.

Honestly my method was to figure out when I wanted the kids to be born and work backwards from there
