There have been several "download everything you can because it's so getting deleted" posts wrt to RT being shut down next month so I would like to draw your attention to the Archive of Pimps. People have been working very hard to archive the entire Rooster Teeth catalogue (including First content) and while most of it has been backed up the to Internet Archive they could use help with organizing it. Instead of a bunch of people individually downloading different videos sporadically to their own machines, check to see if the videos you want are already on the archive and you can download them from there and if you might like to help organize.

I will say this, Red team is still my favorite ones to draw in sailor outfits. Doyle and Tucker as well.

I had trouble figuring out colors for Chairman and Price. Price is based off the way his outfit looked in a different lighting? and Chairman i chose cause it looks like he has a wine-ish tie at one point? either way team Charon has the company logo on their uniform

I think it's fascinating that the quotes:

...and both categories manage to be a poignant statement about the nature of war and what it does to the people in it.

carolinas journey to becoming agent carolina is something so fascinating to me because it's something we know virtually nothing about. the state of the church family in General prior to the war is something so intriguing.

like, carolina definitely did dance as a kid, that feels like a given. the 1st grader going to ballet practice after school every day to the highschooler juggling 3 different types of martial arts classes every week to cope with the imminent threat of extinction pipeline is too real. her stern but caring father who just wants her to be the best she can be pushing her to learn acrobatics and gymnastics and her distant but loving mother who just wanted her to survive teaching her to defend and take care of herself.

although the dysfunctional family interpretations are good, i think it's a lot more interesting if, prior to the war, they were a picture perfect american nuclear family. no ill will, just high expectations set on an overarching daughter who felt she always had to do better. it makes the drastic change in mr leonard churchs demeanour that much more impactful. it's made clear in the show that losing allison was hugely damaging to him, so it's not that big of a stretch to say he was a loving father who was affectionate towards his daughter.

carolina probably tried to enlist in the military to follow her mom when the war started. that's what she had been training for all this time, after all. someone would have stopped her; maybe a mother who cared too much about her safety or a father who didn't want to lose her too. but when allison died, of course, everything changed.

her fathers subdued cynicism morphed into fanatical obsession, his warm fondness turning into cold apathy, and he pushed her away. whatever name she once had didnt matter as she became agent carolina, and whatever connection they once shared unraveled as she became a means to an end. previous high expectation for her own sake turned into a required standard; a threshold she could not slip beneath, and it wasn't about her anymore. he wanted to suceed, and carolina wasnt allowed to want anything else.

red vs blue season 1 commentary (2003)

lets do some more commentary recaps! i already have posts for seasons six and seven from a while back. the season 1 disc actually has two different commentary tracks, the original one from 2003 and a new one they recorded in 2010. this post will just cover the 2003 track, recorded by burnie and geoff (all the way back when his name was still geoff fink)

the classic blood gulch intro was made for the release of the season 1 DVD. the original intro (please click this link and go watch the original, it’s a masterpiece) was scrapped because it didn’t actually fit the tone of the series since it’s much more action based, and also the limp bizkit song would have cost them tens of thousands to license

it took around 45 minutes to shoot the opening shot. if you’ve seen season 15 the way the shot is created has already been referenced by jax (to emulate a crane shot, they stood a cameraman on top of a tank turret and then raised the turret to get a smooth transition)

when they first made the show, they were staying up until 7AM to finish and post each episode on fridays, and then go to their day jobs right after 

they changed some parts of the original episode 1 they posted- they didn’t originally have sarge cast until the second episode, so it was burnie saying sarge’s line at the end of episode 1. burnie also tried to sneak some of grif and simmons’ conversations ontop of blue base because he figured people wouldn’t notice and he liked the lighting better there, and people “went nuts” so they had to go back and fix it
