5 favorite Money in the Bank moments
[ Money in the Bank Digitalis  || Money in the Bank Screen Captures ]
Money in the Bank betrayals
Ladders and briefcases weren’t the only thing the two Money in the Bank Ladder Matches had in common. Both bouts also featured shocking, game-changing betrayals.
In the World Heavyweight Championship Contract Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Team Rhodes Scholars may have ended their friendship when Damien Sandow took advantage of Cody Rhodes’ trust. Just as Rhodes seemed ready to capture the briefcase for the win and the golden opportunity, Sandow used his intellect to shove his “best friend” off the ladder and claim the contract for himself.
CM Punk’s bid to become the first Superstar to win three Money in the Bank Matches fell short due to another stunning act of betrayal.
As Punk and Daniel Bryan locked up on the outside, Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel decided to enter the fray. After hitting Bryan with a Swinging Neckbreaker, Punk showed his disapproval of Axel’s actions by hitting the GTS. Paul Heyman then came down to scold Axel for his action.
With his opponents incapacitated, Punk began his ascent up the ladder. It seemed that he would once again hold a WWE Championship opportunity when Heyman shockingly turned on his client and “friend,” hitting him repeatedly with a ladder while sandwiching Punk between another.
Moments later, Randy Orton slithered into the ring and dropped Rob Van Dam with an RKO from the ladder before claiming his first Money in the Bank victory.

CM Punk injured by Brock Lesnar on Raw
[Monday Night Raw Digitalis  || Monday Night Raw Screen Captures]
CM Punk demanded an explanation from Paul Heyman on Raw, but what he got instead was a slew of injuries at the hands of Brock Lesnar.
Moments after The Straight Edge Superstar vowed retribution against Heyman for betraying him at Money in the Bank, the mad scientist summoned Lesnar to tear Punk to pieces. The Anomaly rammed Punk into the steel ring post, tossed him into the ringside barrier and capped off his assault with an F-5 onto the announce table, and according to WWE medical officials, the damage to Punk was severe
In what sounds more like an injury report from a car crash than a fistfight, medical officials have told WWE.com that Punk suffered whiplash and strained ligaments in his left knee and right ankle. Punk’s ribs are also bruised, potentially broken, as a result of the attack.
One thing that remained unbroken was the former WWE Champion’s spirit, as Punk managed to make it to his feet following Lesnar’s rampage. But whether his body matches the strength of his heart in a seemingly inevitable confrontation remains to be seen. Stay with WWE.com for more on Punk’s condition.

Paul Heyman confronted CM Punk
CM Punk knows better than most that actions speak louder than words, so it was hardly a surprise when The Straight Edge Superstar demanded that Paul Heyman present himself following Heyman’s betrayal at Money in the Bank. Bristling at Punk’s apparent notions of superiority since his return, Heyman indeed appeared and fessed up to his recent machinations in full. In fact, he did Punk one better, insinuating he turned his back on his friend because his first client – Brock Lesnar – was simply superior and would not fail him as Punk did at WrestleMania against The Undertaker.
Punk, of course, vowed to make Heyman pay, and was summarily repaid with pain when the mad scientist summoned Lesnar from the shadows and sicced the former UFC Champion on The Straight Edge Sueprstar. Punk valiantly rained elbows on The Anomaly’s head, but his heart wasn’t enough on this particular night when Brock unleashed a monstrous F-5 on the former WWE Champion, dropping him onto the announce table (though Punk did eventually make it to his feet) and leaving him to eat the concrete and his words in equal measure.
CM Punk: "I know Paul Heyman is in the building, And I know Brock Lesnar is in the building. And I know I am not waiting anymore, so come on out, boys."
Paul Heyman: "You know what I'm looking at right now? I'm looking at an empty ring because in my world, you don't exist, I martyred my entire career for you, We were The Best in the World.
Without me, there is no we. Without Paul Heyman, CM Punk, you're not The Best in the World. If you want to know why I double-crossed you, why I betrayed you ... here's the harshest truth of them all: I betrayed you because, CM Punk, you can't beat Brock Lesnar."
CM Punk: "The truth is, Paul, I'm going to get you, I swear on your children that I am going to get you and I will get everybody you conspired against me."

Raw Five-Point Preview - July 15, 2013
Knockaround (Heyman) Guys
Well, that’s one way to sever a friendship. CM Punk professionally distanced himself from Paul Heyman weeks ago, but the mad scientist upped the ante at Money in the Bank and viciously attacked his former protégé with a ladder. The assault cost Punk the WWE Title Contract that eventually went to Orton (Punk was alone in the ring at the time of Heyman’s strike), so it stands to reason that Punk may try and make the mad scientist go to sleep on Raw.

Money in the Bank Results - July 14, 2013
Money in the Bank All-Stars Ladder Match
The history of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match is one marked by reckless abandon, endless fortitude and more than a little bit of luck, but it was betrayal that defined the Money in the Bank “All-Stars” Match. With CM Punk a tattooed hand away from gripping a record third briefcase, the slimy Paul Heyman entered the fray and repeatedly bashed his supposed best friend — his “guy” — with a steel ladder. The brazen assault nullified The Straight Edge Superstar, giving Randy Orton the opportunity to capture his first Money in the Bank contract. It was an underhanded ending to a match that exemplified the best Punk, Orton, Daniel Bryan, Christian, Sheamus and a returning Rob Van Dam had to offer. Billed appropriately as “All-Stars,” six of WWE’s true greats — minus a missing Kane who was sidelined by a savage Wyatt Family attack — risked it all for a guaranteed WWE Title opportunity and, debatably, an instant championship reign, as history’s proven. Still, the talk of the WWE fans exiting the Wells Fargo Center focused not on dramatic flips and falls, but on the realization that the friendship between Punk and Heyman was even more strained than the WWE Universe imagined — and that a long coiled Viper is once again ready to strike. The final match of the night began with a hero’s welcome for RVD who was returning to WWE in the city where he made his name. Six years removed from his last WWE run, the ageless Van Dam looked as good as he did when he first entered Extreme Championship Wrestling nearly two decades ago. The Philly fans, sensing a classic before the bell even rang, began to shake the arena as the ring filled up with future WWE Hall of Famers. And then all hell broke loose.
Winner: Randy Orton (Mr. Money in the Bank)

WWE Money in the Bank Preview - Money in the Bank All-Stars
WWE Championship Contact Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero received a firsthand lesson in how to announce a blow-away match when WWE Executive Vice President Stephanie McMahon revealed the blockbuster lineup for July 14’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship Contract.
Live on pay-per-view, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Christian, Kane and the returning Rob Van Dam will all try to scale the ladder and grab the Money in the Bank briefcase containing a guaranteed contract for a WWE Title Match, to be cashed in at the time and place of the challenger’s choosing.
The seven former World Champions represent a stunning diversity of styles and an incredible depth of talent, not to mention enough combined big-match experience to give the July 14 bout must-see appeal.
Leading the charge is The Straight Edge Superstar, a former two-time WWE Champion who has competed in three Money in the Bank Ladder Matches and won two of them (in 2008 and 2009). While a strained relationship with Paul Heyman and a run-in with Brock Lesnar have somewhat marred his comeback somewhat, Punk insists he remains undeterred in his ultimate goal of reclaiming the WWE Title that he held for 434 days during his most recent reign.
After days of speculation, it’s now official. The Big Red Monster Kane will not compete in this Sunday’s Money in the Bank All-Stars Match, according to WWE.com sources.
Kane was injured in a brutal assault by The Wyatt Family on Raw, leaving the veteran with head and neck trauma.

WWE Money in the Bank 2013 predictions
Money in the Bank All-Stars
Howard Finkel: This is going to be a good one. All-Stars? An understatement!  All seven superstars entered are Money in the Bank battle-tested, which makes this encounter a must-see. Plus there’s some bad blood amongst the participants. Additionally, factor in the expected phenomenal reception that the returning Rob Van Dan will receive. Whose endurance will take him to the top, literally? CM Punk gets my vote. He’s on his game big time and will find a way to garner the briefcase for a third time. WINNER: Punk
Tom Herrera: Daniel Bryan appears to have the most fire in his belly and all the momentum in the world, but there's one man who's been silently plotting to steal the show — and the Money in the Bank briefcase. Rob Van Dam has shown the ability to thrive in Ladder Matches, and he'll no doubt pull out his entire arsenal of high-flying maneuvers to make his return a rousing success. WINNER: Van Dam
Alex Giannini: There’s so much talent in this one match that it’s almost impossible to pick a winner. But with Rob Van Dam returning — in Philly — Mr. Monday Night will have the wind at his back and the fans on his side, and I’m willing to bet that’ll carry RVD to the top of the ladder. WINNER: Van Dam
Anthony Benigno: Rob Van Dam’s shadow looms over this stacked competition, but Daniel Bryan’s momentum should carry the former World Champion to glory for a second time. WINNER: Bryan
John Clapp: There are almost too many variables to consider in this bout, especially with the wild card element of a returning RVD. Nonetheless, nobody appears quite as eager to force his way back into WWE Championship contention as the always-volatile Randy Orton. WINNER: Orton
Van Dam: 2, Punk: 1, Bryan: 1, Orton: 1

Who most needs to win a World Title Match contract at Money in the Bank?'
Winning a Money in the Bank Ladder Match virtually guarantees that a Superstar will become a World Champion, which is why this weekend’s multi-man melees are, simply put, among the most important matches of the year.
In total, 14 Superstars (maybe 13?) will be vying for two World Championship Match contracts on pay-per-view Sunday. One field, competing for a WWE Title Match contract, is made up of veritable all-stars, established warriors who have excelled under the bright lights of the main event. The other contest, with a World Heavyweight Title Match contract hanging in the balance, consists of seven brash Superstars on the rise, four of whom weren’t even on the WWE radar before last year.
But which of these warriors needs to win a World Title Match contract the most?
That’s the question we posed to you, the WWE Universe. Now that the votes have been tallied, see which five Superstars you believe should view this weekend’s ceremonies in the direst terms
Rank #3. CM Punk
He may have been the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the modern era, but that doesn’t mean a quick return to the WWE Title scene is a given for CM Punk. Think about the major developments that have occurred for The Straight Edge Superstar since his last WWE Championship Match. He no longer has Paul Heyman, one of the squared circle’s savviest negotiators, in his corner. Plus, Punk has drawn the ire of Brock Lesnar, as dangerous a distraction as there could be for a possible World Title contender.
A win in the Money in the Bank All-Stars Ladder Match would go a long way in offering Punk some sorely needed solace. It would bypass the need for him to devote attention to convincing an authority figure he’s deserving of an opportunity (effectively offsetting the loss of Heyman), and that luxury, in turn, could free up Punk to focus on the threat looming in the distance: The Anomaly.

CM Punk def. Randy Orton
In a bout between two of WWE’s most vicious Superstars, it was CM Punk who came out on top once Vickie Guerrero’s final match as Managing Supervisor was said and done, avenging a WrestleMania loss to hand Randy Orton another high-profile defeat. Punk started strong, but Orton steadily dismantled The Straight Edge Superstar by targeting his ribs and back to leave him writhing.
Orton’s sadistic tendencies got the better of him as he laid a barrage of punches on Punk’s head against the turnbuckle, though, giving Punk time to writhe free and the wind to counter the RKO with a kick to the head. One Go to Sleep later and Orton’s night was over. But Daniel Bryan wasn’t about to leave without making a statement of his own, dissecting Punk with kicks and bulldozing Orton with a ladder before clutching the coveted briefcase for his own.
Brutal? Yes. Dangerous? Certainly. But when it comes to Money in the Bank, it’s all in the game.
Winner: CM Punk After the Match: Bryan came behind and attack CM Punk to prove the poient that he'll be the new Mr. Money in the Bank. Backstage: CM Punk tells why he's the Best in the World and he'll prove it again to beat Randy Orton.

WWE's Boys of Summer
Rank #1 - CM Punk (2011)
It's the only summer in WWE history to merit an unofficial title bearing a Superstar's name, as well as to inspire WWE fans to compose YouTube tribute montages dedicated to his meteoric rise. The defining moment of the "Summer of Punk" is the scathing verbal tirade that The Voice of the Voiceless launched on the June 27, 2011 Raw, but the end result of CM Punk's "pipe bomb" was the birth of one of the most explosive WWE Champions of all time.
When The Second City Savior defeated John Cena in an instant classic at Money in the Bank and left the Allstate Arena with the WWE Title (just as he proclaimed he would), Punk sparked a buzz that turned the entire WWE Universe on its collective ear. The Straight Edge Superstar went on to successfully defend his title in a terrific rematch against Cena at SummerSlam before Alberto Del Rio cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and swiped the title away. Undeterred in his mission to be called "Best in the World," Punk barely lost to Triple H at Night of Champions and persistently clawed his way back to the top to seize his second WWE Championship.

Raw Five-Point Preview - July 8, 2013
Punk's dilemma
CM Punk’s heart grew three sizes on SmackDown when he stood up for the very man he’s been trying to distance himself from, coming to Paul Heyman’s aid after the mad scientist found himself attacked by World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio. But Heyman, a master manipulator, likely won’t let his former protégé get away clean with a kind gesture: Look for the former ECW head honcho try to guilt-trip Punk back into his fold, but will tensions rise as a result?

Friday Night Smackdown Results - July 5, 2013
Things heat up between CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio
CM Punk opened Smackdown dressed in wrestler gear for his “special appearance.” Punk watched a replay of Curtis Axel stealing their tag victory on Raw. Punk opened with a dig on John Cena, talked about the Fourth of July, talked about how independent he is, tied it into how he’s going to win the WWE Title MITB match, talked about Brock Lesnar, and Alberto Del Rio interrupted. Del Rio claimed this is his show, so Punk told him off. Del Rio then went off on Americans to “USA” chants. Punk called out Del Rio on his babyface “Born in Mexico, Made in America” gimmick, calling him phony. Del Rio told Punk to get out, but Punk refused. So, Teddy Long booked Del Rio vs. Punk as the main event.
CM Punk vs Alberto Del Rio in a Non-Title Match
World Hvt. champion Alberto Del Rio vs. C.M. Punk went to a No Contest via double count-out in 18:00. Del Rio attacked Punk’s shoulder throughout, looking to soften up Punk for the cross arm-breaker. Punk had a small comeback broken up by a backbreaker. Punk rolled out of the ring, then got thrown into the barricade and over the announce table. Del Rio then attacked Heyman at commentary. Punk then used the commentary table to launch himself onto Del Rio and into the barricade, resulting in the bell sounding. Lilian Garcia announced a double count-out for a No Contest. After the announcement, Punk threw Del Rio back into the ring and hit the GTS.
Winner: No Contest
Backstage: Punk was with Paul Heyman. Heyman questioned whether Punk can out-wrestle Del Rio, which Punk said he’s going to do. Heyman tried to talk Punk into letting him be ringside with Punk at Money in the Bank, but Punk said no.  Paul Heyman and Teddy Long talked. Long wanted Heyman at the commentary table for the Punk-Del Rio main event, and Long said he would not take “no” for an answer.

SmackDown Five-Point Preview - July 5, 2013
What does CM Punk have planned for the blue brand?
As announced on Raw, CM Punk will make a rare appearance on SmackDown tonight, bringing along his trademark vitriol. But at whom will he direct it?
So, what does "The Best in the World" have planned for the WWE Universe on the blue brand? Find out tonight at 8/7 CT, only on Syfy!
These days, that seems to be the million-dollar question, as The Straight Edge Superstar has had more than a few issues with longtime friend and confidante, Paul Heyman. Coming off Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel’s covert tag-in on Raw, Punk is none too happy with Heyman's guys these days ... not to mention the mad scientist himself.
Speaking of Heyman’s clients … Brock Lesnar is still out there, lurking somewhere in the distance after his shocking F-5 on Punk last month on Raw. And if there’s one thing we know about Punk, it's that he has a long memory.
