So Uhm- why did you gain interest in Na Kyum even tho you had a whole group of men ready to get on their knees for you? 🤔🤔
That's the point. They would have done everything for me without question. But Na Kyum wouldn't. I wanted him because I couldn't have him. At the same time I saw the way he looked at me doing all those naughty things. He fascinates me.

The newest chapter of Painter of the Night’s is a such a delight! The sex is epic, but it’s the scene with the gossiping men that reveals Seungho’s growth. They are obviously completely wrong about him finding a female fiancée; however, there is also a hint of truth in each rumour. Because by reading between the lines of those gossips, you realize that SEUNGHO HAS BECOME MONOGAMOUS FOR NAMKYUN.
Tumblr media
It’s something he’s been slowing heading towards since the second half of season 1. And it seems some people don’t realize how huge and rare it’s in the Joseon period for nobleman to be physically faithful to only one person. Seungho has become monogamous in an era when noblemen regularly had concubines, which was completely legal by the way, and fathered illegitimate children from servants and slaves while their wives had to remain morally pure.  Not even the queen had a faithful husband since the Joseon king used to have the biggest harem in the entire kingdom.
That being said, it was generally accepted that noblemen had mistresses and those who didn’t were said to be devoted and in love with their wives, that’s why the men assume that Seungho must have found a woman he wants to marry for him to abandon his promiscious ways. Noblemen were not faithful to their concubines or servant lovers who always came from lower caste than them and who were considered lowly and inferior to them.
Which is why it’s extra poignant to see Jihwa, the nobleman, being reduced to a mere mistress by the gossiping men while Namkyun, the commoner and servant, is being considered Seungho’s fiancée.
Tumblr media
In the end, Namkyun is the person with who Seungho spends his days and nights in his home and when he leaves he only leaves with him. Futhermore, he is also the one who Seungho wraps in his clothes while he walks stark naked carrying Namkyun around like a beloved bride. Not only is this behaviour out of ordinary for him, it’s out of ordinary for most noblemen.
And that shows how special Namkyun is to Seungho who hasn’t treated his previous lovers and fuck buddies even with a fraction of the consideration and gentleness he bestows upon Namkyun. Even gossiping men comment on how special Namkyun must be to bewitch someone like Seungho. Because the truth is Seungho is ill suited to be considerate. The only time we saw him being considerate to someone other than Namkyun was when he didn’t kill Jihwa for old times’ sake after he abused the painter.
Tumblr media
Be it his “friends” and servant who’ve known his whole life or random people, everyone notices this immense change in Seungho’s behaviour. And you really have to appreciate how slow and gradual it has been.

I absolutely love how Nakyum became open and vocal about his sexuality and desires which he tried so hard to supress because he was taught into thinking it was wrong. But I hate knowing the reason was because he was still probably caught up with his broken heart because of Jung fucking Inhun.
And damn, we be actually gettin' spicy scenes right on the comeback of POTN S2! Aahh, love it! And Seungho... I mean, let's admit it, he's still kinda mean in his words but his actions says otherwise. He may not even realize it himself but he's changing for the better, at the very least I guess for Nakyum. I've always got that kind of air in him, he's the kind of person who doesn't express himself well in words but he does this subtle things and gestures that's kind and gentle towards Nakyum especially when they're having sex. He's actually kinda considerate but obviously, he needs to be more affevtionate. Damn, I'm really hoping for the day that Seungho and Nakyum would properly make love with each other. Oh, that would be so nice.
Ever since Nakyum got sick, Seungho became nicer and gentler towards him. I think that's when he started to reserve himself only for Nakyum and stopped going around the village fucking anyone who likes. That time he came back home and couldn't fall asleep, not even a blink, I wonder what he was thinking. Was he feeling guilty thinking he was part at fault of Nakyum falling sick? Or is he starting to feel something and it's confusing him just like Nakyum so he chose to leave his household while Nakyum was ill? We always got Nakyum's POV but I wonder how it was like on Seungho's POV. I'd like to understand him more.

I don't know if my way of thinking is becoming Seungho-like but everytime I look at Nakyum, all I could think of was "Damn, he's so pretty. He's so fucking pretty. I wanna top him too...-" then there goes the dramatic realization after that statement but I mean, look at him!
