the asexual double edged sword is that a lot of people, particularly queer discoursers(tm) online, are really really rancid about ace people who have sex, I mean like stunningly awful, so naturally sex favorable/indifferent asexuals will be very keen on making sure that they aren't erased within their own community and that people at large know they exist. at the same time, people are also Very Bad about ace people who don't have sex, and sex averse/repulsed asexuals face a lot of pressure both on societal and interpersonal scales to submit to sex that they don't want, and so naturally it'll really rub them the wrong way to constantly have "but don't worry, ace people can still conform to the societal expectation!" appended to their PSAs about their experiences of asexuality. and so everyone's just kinda upset and annoyed all the time when instead it should be peace and love on planet ace.

making art sites that don't allow NSFW is useless to me. not even to get my rocks off, i mean at this point not allowing NSFW ends up being a nightmare of random queers getting banned because the guidelines are too ill-defined and art that presents the human body, especially femme and trans, will just get obliterated for no reason despite not being sexual.

Reminder to care about intersex people who aren't trans, too

Intersex people who aren't trans are still subject to the fascist violence that is currently aimed at any and all people who fall outside of gender and sex norms

Intersex people who aren't trans are subject to nonconsensual surgeries and HRT and can have complex and nuanced thoughts on gender and sex even if we aren't trans

We need solidarity to exist and not just with people who fall under both intersex and trans labels. We need yall to care about all of us. Intersex people who consider themselves cis still often have to work every day to pass as their gender or be abused, rejected, and brutalized by society. We don't have to be trans for this to be a massive issue that impacts the intersex community as a whole.

Big shout out to the coalition of Catholic nuns who just told the US bishops to stop being transphobic.

“As members of the body of Christ, we cannot be whole without the full inclusion of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals,” the letter reads. It goes on to argue that “we will remain oppressors until we — as vowed Catholic religious — acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people in our own congregations. We seek to cultivate a faith community where all, especially our transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive siblings, experience a deep belonging.”

The letter also states transgender people are “experiencing harm and erasure” in various ways, listing daily discrimination, a groundswell of state-level legislation aimed at LGBTQ rights and “harmful rhetoric from some Christian institutions and their leaders, including the Catholic Church.”

Reminder that transmascs who are very feminine, transfems who are very masculine, and non-binary people who aren’t androgynous at all still deserve their pronouns to be respected.

Presentation does not equal pronouns or gender identity, and this especially goes for people who choose to be gender non-conforming.

Be respectful, ask for pronouns even if you’re 100% sure, you may be surprised.

Animal welfare = a science based approach to the needs of animals, taking the needs and behaviour of different species into account and ensuring they are treated humanely and cared for in ways that allow them to live good lives

Animal rights = an emotional approach based on the feelings of individuals who do not necessarily understand the animals they are advocating for, who often group all species needs and behaviours as one and who may end up causing more suffering to animals through failing to understand their actual needs.
