No, it’s all in the BODY LANGUAGE. Their cocky-ass, full of themselves, snooty body language. They think they’re better than everyone! And I would have on if the restaurant staff didn’t intervene. :// I mean I might as WELL have encountered Satan.
That’s hilarious.
Well, I’m sure you would have won. With all the things happening lately? I’m pretty sure you could if you really wanted to. Wouldn’t be surprised if you manage to win too.

Straight up refused to consider any alternative, and had to be escorted from the premises. I don’t know why. Not sure I want too either. Seems like the kind of thing where knowing about it would drive you insane
...Yikes. That bad, huh? I thought it was gonna be one of those “lost a bet and now I have a unicorn tattoo on my ass” types of stories. Didn’t expect that to go dark.

No, it’s one of the only times I’ve had to completely turn a potential customer away. They just wouldn’t be reasoned with and you’ve got to have standards, you know?
Expected as much but if you did it would be kinda funny. I don’t judge other people’s ink but considering it’s in this town...
Did they not get anything done at all? Like, they were so intent on getting a mime and nothing else?

I am now. Well, mostly. Good enough. I got stabbed a few times. But it’s pretty much healed by now. And yeah, we take care of a lot. I’d rather be busy than bored, though. Bored means paperwork and bullshit. But yeah, be sure to contact us when you can. Just safer for you and the animals, all that.
That’s horrible. Did you just casually “ah I got stabbed a few times but s’okay”?  Glad you’re powering through it. Being stabbed sounds scary. I didn’t realize animal control was so dangerous. Are you sure that’s all you do? I get what you mean. I get uneasy if I don’t have stuff to do.

shady business ; felix & kana.
For the most part no effort was needed to keep to herself. Kana was naturally very good at minding her own business. Maybe that was another reason why she was accepted. The Ring had a lot of things going on. Some not-so-legal. It didn't take much to turn a blind eye to it. Was it the right thing to do? Not exactly, but she certainly didn't have the best set of morals to begin with. Hell, she'd rather be eaten by one of the cages' inhabitants than be kidnapped by some sketchy fellow at the ring. By this reasoning alone, possible risk of abductions (in her mind) were close to zero.
Most deals were done above ground anyways. Luckily only in the event of an emergency would she be needed up there. The inhabitants meant a great deal to her so naturally, seeing them fight to the death would be too much. Attempting to fix the aftermath everyday was exhausting enough already. Kana did best underneath all the chaos, down in the cages where it's ...still dangerous less bloody.
There were voices down here today - not familiar ones. People, and not ones in the cages. There were two of them and no Clare in sight. Odd. She squinted - at least one of them was familiar. Yeah, no. Cleaning can wait until later. Without a word she turned back, broom in one hand and bucket in the other. Only a few more steps to the back door. Just a few--
"Brush!" A creature bellowed out.
Shit.
"Brush brush!" The troll repeated. So much for sneaking off. It'd be painfully suspicious if she were to sprint out of the room at this very moment.
Flint, the darling little troll, spotted the familiar broom in her hand. They shared a little game on the slower days - one where he would have to sit completely still and Kana would have to use the broom to brush where she could reach. Truthfully, it was more of a ploy to not have bugs crawling all over him.
"Alright, but you know the rules." She placed the bucket aside, mentally noting how the two had stopped talking. There were footsteps now, but she opted to focus on the troll before her trying his damnest to stay completely still as she started brushing through the bars.

in hell I’ll be good company ; nico & kana.
Usually, even on the worst days she's managed to come out relatively unaffected. Shit happens - it's normal. Today though she's found herself uncharacteristically repeating that over and over in her head. It started off with dumb luck; slipping and landing some unknown liquid (was it demon blood? please no.) at the start of her shift. No big deal. Good thing she always brought spare clothes.
The rest of the afternoon was unexpectedly rowdy to say the least. The fighters for the night were more aggressive than usual causing the rest of the cages' inhabitants to react with equal ferocity. It took much longer for the tension to wear off for some reason. Nursing the fighters back to a decent state took about two hours tops - and of course, she didn't come out of their cells unscathed. That's alright. Wounds can heal. There's plenty of bandages to go around. Kana always considered herself pretty sturdy despite her small stature.
But man, was she not expecting to take a direct hit from a gargoyle. To be fair, Cole (the gargoyle) was being more cooperative compared to the others. She just happened to be at the perfect elbow-to-cheek height. It hadn't occurred to her just how bad her day had been going until she caught her reflection on the bathroom mirror.
Well, at least she didn't lose a tooth.
The blood coming out of her mouth was a little concerning though. The inside of her cheek must've tore from the impact. The chores were done at least, so the day hadn't gone to complete shit. After the third and final wardrobe change for the day, she felt a little better. The rattling of the metal door started just as she finished replacing some of her bandages.
"Nell?"
She pressed the ice pack against her cheek, reluctantly pulling herself off the chair to open the door. There weren't any scheduled deliveries for the day as far as she could remember. Frankly, she'd dealt with enough chaos for today. The sight that greeted her as she opened the door was not Nell however.

It was awhile ago, and they were asking for it! Always so snooty and thinking they’re better than people :/ But yeah STABBED. So truly, they’re Satan’s spawn. Actually that’s a slight to Satan.
But.. They don’t talk, right...? Do they mime insults at people? Also, did you win? Still - I guess, that’s a lot to take in. I’m definitely going to start avoiding them now. Don’t tell me you’ve had a Satan encounter too?

This town does come with a few warnings.
Because that part of town is sketchy.
That, I’m aware of. Didn’t expect it to be to this extent though.
Yikes. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? Would think you’d need more cops at a sketchy place instead of the quieter ones.

You’ve got a weird definition of cute. And, well, I mean, I’m an animal control officer. But since I’m currently in the hospital, guess you wouldn’t see me around just now. And Gary won’t do any fucking field work so I doubt you’ll see him, either. And yeah, we pick up strays, get animals out of abusive situations, rescue them when they’re stuck, remove dead animals, deal with any wild animals that are wandering the streets or are where they’re not supposed to be, deal with any dangerous animals. There’s a lot.
You have no idea. So I’ve been told. Oh -- In the hospital? Are you alright? I wasn’t aware... That sounds like a lot of work. I guess it does makes sense since there’s a lot of wildlife around... In any case, I’ll be sure to contact you guys the next time I see a weird dog - or a weird anything. After not petting it, of course.

danetobelieve‌:
Winston had been going to the gym occasionally.
Occasionally being the operative word because the truth was that they could and would not admit that they were working out at a gym, certainly not to Ricky who had been trying to get them to live a healthier and happier life for many years. But when you lived with someone who had more abs then you had pairs of jeans, well it was difficult to think that Winston would enjoy the gym as much as Ricky did.
“Uh,” Winston glanced over and spotted Kana, “hey, yeah, me neither.” They were sweaty already, cardio and resistance machines were mainly the name of the game, but one of the trainers called Louisa had give them some tips on bench pressing and Winston was trying. They didn’t love that all they could manage at the moment was a 10 kg bar, but they told themselves that everything was a process and they weren’t going to get better if they didn’t.
“To be totally honest with you I don’t usually do this sort of thing.” they set the bar down on it’s slot on the bench and pushed themselves from a horizontal to vertical position and grabbed a small towel that they’d brought with them to wipe sweat from their forehead. “But the last few months have made it really clear to me that I need to improve my fitness.
Their life may very well depend on it, especially with how much their magical outbursts drained them.
“Oh?” Her eyes were set elsewhere out of habit but her attention remained intently on the subject. “I don’t either.” She took a seat at a nearby bench. “At the gym, I mean. I workout everyday... just at home.” The tiny hint of embarrassment in her tone was subtle. In White Crest, being physically active was more of a necessity than a hobby. How else would she be able to manage being the zookeeper? “I... guess the hardest part would be being consistent about it.”
Kana was eager to help, though having the ‘I was part of a gang and had violent outbursts back then’ talk as the start of her fitness journey was not ideal to say the least. “Don’t push yourself too hard. Maybe don’t do it everyday right off the bat after not being active for months. You’ll end up sore and limping - which, I guess, is not the best if you work at some place that’s physically demanding.” She tried her best to explain her own experience, maybe leaving out parts that weren’t as pretty. Definitely leave out the time she almost got her arm bit clean off that one time because of muscle cramps.
“Ah, I find it easier to have a little schedule going on. Like do strength training on the first day, then flexibility and lighter workouts on the next. Usually people go by parts though. Arm day, leg day or whatever.” She shrugged, eyes darting back to them. As fit as she was, she also had the tendency to get bored very easily. The same routine for a month was too repetitive, too boring. “I guess... just experiment and try everything?” Unfortunately she isn’t too good at giving advice. Oh -- Was she being nosy? The realization jumped at her suddenly; he wasn’t asking for advice. “Sorry, was I rambling?”

Better safe than sorry, as the saying goes. I do actually take walks down a few trails. Come across various wildlife but similar to yourself, nothing that has seemed particularly threatening. For the most part, animals will keep to themselves, so long as you don’t provoke them. But it’s still best to carry a form of protection, in case of stumbling across something more… prone to being disturbed.
Of course! Love the little critters. Even the not-so-cute ones. Oh, don’t worry. I’m well-equipped to defend myself if needed. Not that much a fan of sharp objects though but I have mace as a last resort. -- And I try to be extra mindful whenever I’m exploring somewhere new too.

Feeling like people are watching can just be your insecurities. Did something happen?
I went there once and that was enough for me. It is odd but unfortunately it is dangerous as well. No, no mimes just not the nicest area in the town. The police don’t really go over there.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Just... a lot of warnings lately. It’s a little concerning.
I see. I didn’t know. Is there any reason they don’t? Sounds really sketchy.

Weird. Maybe, uh, stay away from it, though. Just in case.
Putain de merde, this is why people in this fucking town keep getting killed. Not everything is a fucking dog. That was a yeth hound, I swear to god. No, not really. They’re typically far more aggressive and can bite through bone. I wasn’t kidding about you keeping your hand. Just be careful with any weird looking animals and just call it into animal control, alright. Please?
Keep distance, gotcha.
I thought it was pretty cute. Huh.. I’ll keep in mind if I happen to see one. Maybe after trying to befriend it. I happen to be very good at keeping my limbs in check, so no worries about that. I don’t think I’ve ever seen animal control around though... Do they catch the strays?
