isa: guys i just added an amendment to my "aliens are real" theory, kinda blew my own mind i had two theories about aliens, one is that they're from the ocean and the other is that they're just humans who invented time travel and went back to advance human intelligence faster (which is why we're smarter than animals)but my amendment states that all of life and time already happened (determinism) but consciousness that we experience now is just the process of future humans (specifically those who have ultimate power/money) going back in time and changing our choices to ensure that they obtain and keep wealth bc when you think about it, if you just invented time travel what's the first thing you'd do, prob change the past so that you and ur fam get all the power and money so in conclusions the aliens are just specific humans who went back in time to ensure their own power and wealth. they overtly time traveled by being seen in UFOs so that they could very rapidly advance our intelligence, and they covertly time traveled (by occupying our brains and changing our daily decisions) so that they could obtain power and wealth over a long span of time, undetected pat: that’s fatalism not determinism. detetminism means that your current life is the effect of the causes of your past. so the things from your past lead you to this moment. where what you’re saying that your life is already preplanned is fatalism also have you seen arrival? the plot is based on this same idea of a fixed timeline but if they went back in time and changed anything it would alter the future they’re living in. because that future only exists because of what happened in the past to lead up to that point unless there are multiple timelines in which case they’d have to travel into another dimension, but time is a dimension and it’s not fixed or regular so it would just depend on if there are multiple universes and how they would switch between them but 100% aliens are real it’s statistically impossible for them not to be viv: it’s only statistically impossible to definitely say they don’t exist (based on the assumption that there is no publicly available widespread confirmation of life off of earth) i’m bringing out the infinite monkey theorem isa: i’m def saying determinism. like, that definition exactly matches what i mean. my theory assumes there’s only exactly 3 timelines, and we’re on the third and last one pat: there’s 100 thousand million stars in our galaxy, and 125 billion galaxies in the observable universe. and that’s just in the universe where light had enough time to reach us our star is an average star with an average life span, water is common in the universe, tho it’s mostly frozen. We don’t know exactly what caused life to start BUT with that many opportunities for life, if it happened once it almost certainly will and has to happen again idk if we’ll ever meet them though unless they’re in our galaxy. space is expanding faster than light can travel so eventually it’ll be impossible to go to another galaxy also the part of the galaxy we live in is average and the galaxy itself is an average one izzy: (**)i think its plausible, but i do agree that there have to be a bunch of timelines because perfecting time travel itself requires practice & trials so any successes before the "official mission" or whatever u wanna call it would create more than the exactly 3 timelines u suggest and having 2 versions of the same person in the same timeline can mess shit up humans motivated by wealth makes sense, and it would take quite some capital to even achieve all this traveling and money does successfully cover up a lot of secrets but idk greedy humans are also like kinda dumb and can get carried away, i feel like at some point more time travel would be needed to fix some kind of mistake isa: (**)this is a valid point pat: idk though about the negative aspects being the main motivators. time travel is such an advanced technology that i think we’d have to pass through other scientific revolutions first that would filter out the negative behavior. for example, if they use nuclear power effectively then they would need a mentality not to be using it for weaponry. we discovered it and immediately tried to kill each other with it and for that reason it’s seen as too dangerous. because there’s a stigma around it nuclear power for electricity isn’t popular in the public eye if they use nuclear power it must be socially agreed upon as a public good that can be used for the health and safety of the species similarly my mind goes to climate change and green energy. the majority of the types of people that are pro coal and oil are also more socially conservative and exhibit the ideas of competition and greed. while the types of people that are pro-renewables and understand climate change typically have a more community oriented liberal viewpoint. coal and oil cannot produce enough power for time travel. so, if they time travel they must have access to nuclear or renewables. and if they’re a society that has renewables we can make certain assumptions about they’re zeitgeist money is such a low tier need for maslow’s hierarchy and spiral dynamics, that i just don’t know that a sufficiently advanced society still exhibits these traits. all we have to go on is science fiction and media, and as far as i’ve seen the only writer that’s taken the idea that human behavior isn’t fixed is isaac asimov. his books really explore the idea that our current values will change drastically based on the technology available if we only make behavioral judgments about he future based on the societal values we have now, we’ll always be wrong cuz our current values are a result of our current society and vice versa viv: money is the biggest scam humanity has invented can’t wait for the next big financial shock to happen and for all of our money to be worthless, only for us to have little to no viable skill sets due to consumerism remember to learn carpentry, sewing, and agriculture when you have time in preparation for the downfall of CURRENCY adri: yeah i’m kinda excited for that viv: EXCITED??? adri: yes bc i can just pass away lmfao viv: i mean technically we could do that any time we wanted we are living in a society adri: that’s true but it wouldn’t be too sad bc everyone would just be tryna survive
