The Diaries: Chapter 1
March 27, 2016 Dear Diary, The world was a collage of odd colors and sounds, all filling my head. A rain of pure insanity trickled down into my eyes. An orchestra of loud, unconnected sounds rushed through my ears, and slowly formed into a single word being repeated. “Xander,” it was Ren’s voice,”Xander, get up ya’ silly kiddo!” he grabbed my tail which caused me to launch up like, a rocket. The mosaic of senses that had made up my mysterious dream was gone, and now I was just looking up at my friend. Ren is much older than me. He is actually the normal age of a high school freshman, and he was six feet tall. I on the other hand, am eight years old, and four feet tall. Unlike every other human in the world, I am a Neko, and that means that I have a humanoid body, but share features, namely ears and a tail, with a cat. My hair is golden blonde, along with the fur on my inhuman appendages, and my eyes are a glistening blue. “Why did you grab my tail?” I groaned,”Why is it always the tail?” My dark haired friend chuckled slightly,”Because your reaction is always hilarious.” I frowned as I slipped on my large glasses,”Why did you wake me up.” “Because it happens to be Monday,” Ren walked over to me, and plucked the glasses off of my head,”and Monday is the first day of the school week.” “We have today off,” I laughed, as I reached to take my glasses back, but Ren lifted them away”why did you really wake me up?” “Wait,” my fellow freshman laughed,”I was actually just going to start walking to period one.” “Well it’s a good thing that I reminded you that we have off.” “I’m just lucky to share a dorm with you.” I jumped up for my glasses again, but now Ren lifted them even further out of my reach before tripping, and dropping them. I dove to try and catch them, but they hit the floor. Luckily, they didn’t break. “You’re lucky that those didn’t break,” Ren chuckled. “You are too because I’m sure you don’t want to pay two hundred dollars for a new pair right now,” I sat down on my bed quietly. “Why do we have off today?” Ren asked. “Because I say that we do.” “That’s not how it works,” Ren groaned,”Now I’m going to be late for Period one!” “Or, you can come in tomorrow with me, and say that the sausages sent to our room from Kenny’s were bad.” “Who buys food at Kenny’s?” “I do,” I answered,”Now, is it the same eight periods that you go to every day, or is it games and movies?” “Why don’t you want to go to school today, Xander?” “I get bored in school, and besides, who needs work anyways?” “We do,” Ren said,”Well, I do, if I want to pass at least, you’ll ace the final either way.” “Yeah, but even you said that reading is for boring people, so what is it?” Ren began pacing around the room. He was out of ways to argue with me,”That was a joke.” “A rather cruel one,” Even through my glasses, we had perfect eye contact. “I guess you’re right,” Ren sat down,”So what do you want to do?” I already was halfway done setting up my favorite marble chess set. “Would you like it if I joined you?” Ren asked as he sat opposite the board from me. “I’d love it,” I smiled widely. For some reason, I admired Ren, he was normal, he wasn’t called weird furry wherever he went, and most of all, he was the closest that I had to a friend. He did tease me from time to time, but Ren was always there for me, just like an older brother. I knew that I would lose him someday, and with that, everything. I would lose any sort of friendships with the outside world. I had met Ren halfway through this year when I moved into high school because he needed a roommate for his dorm, and I needed a dorm. At first, our relationship was very shaky, but as we got to know eachother, we realized that we had similar interests, and that we worked really well together. I moved a pawn into the center of the checkerboard. “Let’s make this a little more fair,” Ren snatched my glasses, then slipped a blindfold over my eyes,”Pawn to c5,” “Why did you want to go to school today?” I asked,”Knight to f3.” “Pawn to d6,” Ren sat wondering for a second,”I wanted to see if somebody was at school yet.” “Was it Zoey, the new girl? Pawn to d4.” “Pawn takes d4, how do you even know that name?” “Knight takes d4. I saw your letter home to your parents, I wish I had someone to write letters to.” “Yeah, why don’t you?” “Because they’re all dead.” “Oh, crap, sorry.” “It’s fine, that was five years ago.” “You’ve been on your own since you were three? Knight to f6.” “Surprised, Knight to c3.” “Yeah, most people can’t live on their own at that young.” “I inherited enough money to be able to forage an adult identity for myself, and keep rooms in apartments until the dorms became an option to me.” “How did anyone think that you were an adult?” “I did everything online.” “Like renting apartments is possible online, as if?” “It sure is.” “Alright, I don’t really care. Pawn to g6.” “Bishop to b5, check.” “Nice move, bishop to d7.” “Bishop takes d7.” “Knight takes d7.” “Nicely done, you’re learning, bishop to e3.” “You’re teaching me, Bishop g7.” “Pawn to f3.” “I castled.” “Queen to d2. I’m glad we’re staying home today.” “Pawn a6, we should probably go to class, we can still pull the Kenny’s thing if we’re late.” “We’d have to act sick if we went in now, I’m castling queenside.” “Why would we have to act sick?” “Because it would be weird if we were out of school because of whatever Kenny’s puts in their sausages for the morning periods, then felt totally fine later. Kenny’s leaves a mark on you, trust me, Ren.” “Yeah, I heard that somebody died of food poisoning from Kenny’s once.” Ren said in a spooky voice, queen to c6.” I slowly removed my blindfold, then stared right into Ren’s eyes,”I ate a Kenny’s sausage last night, for real,” then I put my glasses back on.” “Well we better hope you survive, Ren maneuvered around me, then jokingly picked me up by the tail.” The quick upside down movement both dropped my oversized glasses onto the ground, and activated the Kenny’s special meat blend, and suddenly last night’s sausage, my glasses, and our chess game were gone. “Are you kidding me?!” I yelled out. “You should thank me,” Ren put me down, and put on his hero face,”I may have just saved your life.” “What, how?” “I got the sausage out!” “You will kill me long before a sausage does, I groaned.” We continued the day by playing tactic based video games while I lay in bed.

Introduction!
Hi! ^-^ My name is Xander, and I am a slightly depressed child genius (I set my age on my account as 18 so that I wouldn't be blocked in any way. I wish that I didn't have to lie by 10 years to allow myself the fullest features of popular websites.) Some of my favorite things to do are writing stories, and playing chess. I wrote a story that is mostly about myself,(a literal self-insert, I know) but I am careful to flaw myself as I am flawed in real life, for, as I write, I know that not I, not anyone in the world, no matter how wonderfully kind or special is truly without flaw, and that that existing flaw with all of life (or non-life in case someone isn't truly alive, or is beyond life.) is something that should be emulated in all media, wether it be amatuer writing, or professionally made television. In real life, I am somewhat different than the main character in my story, who I chose to make after myself, and to name after myself. My family is alive, but I am still somewhat of an outcast. I play League of Legends (however terribly) , play chess (also pretty badly), and, while I am atheist, I do find religious steryotypes awful, as well as the disgustingness that are other steryotypes, and things such as the "there are only 2 genders" kind of people. Like what in the world is wrong with you if you seek to emotionally harm (sometimes even physically harm) somebody who is just different than you. Different is good. I am a neko in my story. That is symbolic for a key difference between people. Is everyone else in the story (which will be posted soon) truly human? No, but they are shown to be. It is hard to see how someone is different, special even, from first glance, but you must truly analyze the world around you before fully understanding it.
