"That's such a difficult question." The elf ponders, bringing a contemplative hand to his chin.

"Yesterday was just as awful, and I'm sure tomorrow will be even more so."

lilo's head tilted at the other, sensing the anguish from the other. "what's wrong about today that's worse than the other days?"

"Who pissed in...? Ugh. Don't tell me you're one of those." It's quite clear he means optimist, but he won't say it.

"By all means, continue being perfectly content on this wretched day."

ian eyed the stranger curiously. due to his life in chicago, he never deemed himself to be "optimistic". but with the change of city and atmosphere, he was trying to turn over a new leaf. "s'not so bad. who pissed in your cheerios?"

"What isn't there to talk about? The sun is too bright, my joints ache... I'd say I want to go home, but prior to ... ah, moving here I was in a positively awful situation. Captive, in a sense. Ugh. When will it end?"

"did you want to talk about what made it awful?" tk asked the other curiously. "I don't know? my group tells me that it's good to get it all out, not to hold anything in."

"Ugh. Everything about today is just awful." Xan says, and though it is an otherwise beautiful day he treats it as though it is raining — being the perpetual raincloud upon the world that he is.

Was that [JACO VAN DEN HOVEN]? Oh no no, that was just [XAN], a [CANON CHARACTER] from [BALDUR'S GATE]. They are [THIRTY FIVE] years old, use [HE/HIM], and [ARE] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long.

how long has your character been here

Xan has been in Washington D.C. for upwards of a year. Despite this, he seems to be struggling to settle — given his ever constant gloomy disposition.

what is your character's job

Xan is a library technician and a part time barista at a local coffee shop.

where has your character been pulled from in their fandom

He was pulled under the assumption that the player turned him down in his request for them to defeat Mulahey, making him unacquainted with the rest of the party.

has any magic affected your character

Xan is a wizard by nature, though finds his capabilities have been somewhat diminished upon arriving in D.C. He has a lot of work to do before he is as adept as he once was.

My portrayal of Xan is a little bit different in that he hasn't yet experienced much growth in regards to his pessimistic outlook. This can either be seen as an amusement or an annoyance by those he interacts with. I'm looking specifically for him to develop relationships that help him grow as an individual, and perhaps shed some of that negativity.
