Beer, 'evening dress' (1919)
in this dress, japanese Yotsukanawa and Seigaiha motifs are depicted on the train with metallic beads. the Seigaiha, literally "blue ocean wave" in japanese, represents a wave in china and a scale in western europe. this art-deco style became a trend which followed during Alexander McQueen’s givenchy era, 'the japanese garden' s/s 1998 haute couture, presenting one of the dresses on the runway that took inspiration from beer’s evening dress, Lee did a beautiful homage to this dress.
