It must have seemed odd to look at a book three times in a fortnight but if people knew about the messages maybe they’d understand, that doesn’t mean Yoochun would tell anyone about the countless messages he’s made and in fact the way they’ve been writing was therapeutic to him, sure his handwriting wasn’t too neat but it was able to be deciphered by his faceless companion and what he lacked in his handwriting made up in his assumed eloquence.
Thinking over what he could write he borrowed The Lake from the library and left it by his desk, reading when he had free time to spare and wasn’t hung up on writing back to Jaejoong. Yoochun always had this problem of not knowing how to start, when he finally hit the nail on the head and began writing something coherent however it flowed like a river until the pen left the paper, before that the scientist stared blankly at the piece of paper with hopes of the right words to come to him.
It took him until Friday afternoon to even begin writing, remembering Jaejoong picks books up on what would be counted as tomorrow morning.
‘It seems to be a pleasant surprise then for us both it seems like fate has woven us together this way, perhaps not in a way that we are each others other halves but by a strong bond that has some kind of drive, it calms what would be my restless soul as of recently. How are your studies going Jaejoong? Not stressed by any piles of work? Well, I would hope not but I know it’s unlikely that you haven’t been stressed over one or two parts. As for your question: I started visiting this library after I was employed, so not that soon after I graduated I continued reading here, although without you I did have you in my thoughts, I just thought the story ended for us that chapter of life had already passed by and a new one begun... It seems I was wrong as you have become a recurring character in my life, one where I only know your name. should I hide behind a shelf on Saturdays to find you? hah I’m joking, I like sleeping in on weekends so I’ll just expect to see your messages and pick the book up in the afternoon, better to not pry anyway. This letter is getting too long, nevertheless I have so much to talk about with you but I will expect to speak with you more in the next letter, I’m sticking to this book for your reply as I am sure you will read it, that and I need to finish the novel. But until then, take care. .Yc’
Having reread his letter thrice before deciding it was satisfactory Yoochun folded up the piece of paper and placed his pen aside, the rest of his day consisting of work and re-reading Jaejoongs letter.  Folding the paper up and concealing it in Banana Yoshimoto’s novel Chun returned the book reading only half of the book, too distracted by the words in the others note.
His mind dwelling on his own letter he began feeling embarrassed about talking about bonds, shaking it off he just wonders what his friend would think of the letter and that thought sticks to his head the rest of the night from when he drives home to even when he tosses and turns in bed, falling asleep with Jae stuck in his thoughts.

Keeping an eye on a file by his table he picks it up when hearing Kibum question about the archive, how the other didn’t know about the place was beyond him, sure it wasn’t popular with hunters unless they were to look for a file if it wasn’t delivered to them but it was there for a reason. “Are you sure?” Yoochun just says all of a sudden, looking up from his papers with a quirk of a brow.
It was strange how much they didn’t know. “I’m sure you would of been given a tour of the area.... That being said the archive has areas only for listed personnel.” He doesn’t mention much else about the place, not about the contents after mentioning the ‘special part’ or location. “I’m sure you’ll be able to find it, it’s pretty easy to find but maybe I can say that since I’m used to wandering there.”
It was all part of his research in the end, he updated files regularly if he had an angel or any other creature he had been personally taking care of, accidents did happen in the laboratory and subjects got harmed but it was in the progress of science or so that was what Yoochun told himself on a day to day basis. Kibum would understand work is work if he mentioned that he was sure but Chun said nothing at all, instead was left focusing on a corner while deep in thought until a few minutes later he was done thinking about work and cared to take action of his ideas that came to mind. “Kibum, I may need some assistance bringing in a demon, he is caged but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Do you mind if I borrow you to help bring him in?”
“I can show you to the archive after I’m done with getting my sample and done with testing a theory.”

Being snapped at over their age he let out a sigh, trying not to let his guard down Yoochun already takes another step back cautiously while listening to what the younger boy, or what he could count as a man for his age was even saying to him.
The scientist couldn’t say he understood their reasons at first but Chun was left mulling it over, a frown on his face while his gaze flickered from the boy to the street light behind him. There could be two reasons for this confession of theirs; Honesty, the man wanted help getting rid of the angel occupying his body or the ulterior motive of trying to spy and get information, but what seemed more likely? Going by his own judgement Yoochun wanted to help him once thinking over the disadvantages of having an angel also host their body. “Say... What’s your name?” he asks out of the blue, staring out at the dark figure. “If you’re wanting help, I’ll need to get your information, it’s standard protocol if we don’t have your file in our archive.” he wasn’t aware that he did have this mans information already.
Letting his clasp on his concealed taser loosen Yoochun kept his eyes on the figure in front of him. “I’ll help you... But you have to promise me you’re being honest.” He hopes his judgement isn’t wrong about this and he hasn’t made a grave mistake in giving even a slither of trust to this assumed angel.

It was just a few days that passed that Yoochun had time to come back to the library, Busy pondering away with ideas he had clear intentions of finishing the book that had been stolen away... well borrowed by someone else.
Passing by a fair skinned and doe-eyed man when heading to the library Yoochun adjusted his jacket while he got into the building, moving for the front desk all he could do was wait while the librarian who had busily been arranging books onto a trolley neatly to just notice him, leaving the scientist to observe the few people that were in the library that were in sight his people watching was cut short by the voice of the worker. “You’re here a little earlier than usual,.” startled by her voice he turned to stare at the woman, she held in a chuckle behind her hand. “Ah yes... I’m wanting to borrow that book again, it’s been itching at me to finish it as soon as possible.” Yoochun said in answer, almost thinking that the long haired lady was asking a question.
It wasn’t all that long until the book was in his hands, in fact she didn’t need to search the systems but walk over to the trolley she recently arranged to just take the novel out with her lips curved upwards. Her soft smile being contagious he smiled in return whilst the book was being handed to him after the card had been looked over. “You’re in luck, it was just returned a few minutes ago even.” she said matter of factly, playing with a pen that was by her desk, it felt strange that by a few minutes he missed an encounter with the stranger who could have either enjoyed or had disliked the piece of literature. “I see, thank you very much then. I will return with this soon then.” He almost chimes in a bad joke but  holding back he just shows a smile toward the librarian and left for his home.
Perhaps people would of enjoyed joking and saying it was fate nevertheless when Yoochun had returned home with the book in his cars passenger seat he had been drawn in to try and finish the book this same day he borrowed it, if not that day he’d finish it that night and so he did, leaving the car with book in hand and patiently coming back to his apartment to lay on the couch and read after kicking his shoes off. But finishing the book he wasn’t greeted first by the card slip that was left at the back of every libraries books but a folded piece of paper. that definitely wasn’t there last time.
What was he to expect? a prank? A message? It was doubtful and he just unfolds the paper to see a signature first, mouthing the three words in disbelief. “K. J. J.” There could only be one or at least one that would be so impulsive to write a message. So who was playing a joke on him? This couldn’t of been real, Yoochun felt skeptical but it was the first time someone returned to him, whether it was friend or just a stranger, that great surge of emotion and obligation to reply was there, the more he kept re-reading and pinching himself  the harder the realization came to him that this was definitely real.
Already up and getting a piece of paper and a pen Yoochun was stuck looking blankly while trying to think on what exactly to write as a reply. This wasn’t easy, his emotions were bundled up and it was all over a piece of paper, like a message in a bottle that got washed to shore on an isolated island. It had taken him ten minutes to even start but all the man could do was re-read the message and keep wondering if it was real. It was funny how they had came to mind sometimes but when he had stopped thinking about them they had come back into his life, albeit not like a crashing wave but it sure felt like it.
‘Time has passed but you have been hiding within the depths of my mind, thought of and wondered about since we stopped writing to each other, even the secret letters that had been for each other have been kept, re-read and pondered over your wellbeing. Nevertheless this seems too good to be true... But if it really is the truth and you are Kim Jaejoong, then please return and respond, my companion. .Yc’
Finishing the letter after his fourth try later that night he forces himself to sleep after he was done folding up and concealing the piece of paper at the back of the book once done signing the card that was hidden behind their letter. Thinking over what he wrote he tosses and turns, sitting up with a realization only to groan and lay back down when he remembers something: that faceless stranger who sent back that book was Jaejoong all along and yet they didn’t even bump into each other. This haunts him even until he gets to the library to send the book back, what distracted him more was the thought of  what if he will get a reply
Leaving for work after he was done browsing Yoochun was stuck hoping for another reply, it didn’t matter how long it had taken Jaejoong he wanted a response. A letter, a code, just something.

Back when Yoochun was a student he’d grown used to picking up Three books, Two for study and one for leisure. though he’d never finish the fiction novel in its time before it was to be sent back with his study material. In that time it seemed that he found someone with common interest of books.
What was initiated as a joke of a message soon became some kind of unknown bond with this stranger called Kim Jaejoong just by getting a response. Yoochun hadn’t seen their face or heard their voice but he knew that they had similar interests in literary form, that seemed enough for them to talk, whether it was on how they felt, the books content or random small things, the bond was there and would he call it companionship though they were perfect strangers? it seemed alright.
But all things had to come to an end and with Yoochun graduating he had to leave one last message at the end of the year before he had to part ways with the elusive stranger that hid in messages. It sure was going to be boring without them but it was how life went on, constantly moving. For all he knew Jaejoong might of felt bored of the messages, Yoochun hoped not but it’s not like he would know..
After leaving University to work at the organization a majority of Yoochuns spare time was left reading all by borrowing from the public library, Yoochun never did kick his habit of grabbing three books, thinking he could handle finishing the three within the time he was given but as usual he had one that was left to be borrowed again another time, this case wasn’t any different from his time as a student.
‘dream. Sometimes I think that’s the only right thing to do. To dream, live in  the world of dreams... But it doesn’t last forever. Wakefulness always comes to take me back’
Reading that line over he had a realization he was to send back the book as it was due, he hated being reminded but writing on the libraries small slip he hesitated when remembering how there was a small message inside years ago, of course though there was nothing when he checked but having some small hope Chun looked over the slip of card again. Ridding his nostalgia by the shake of his head he just wrote his name and left to send the book back, with it being back on the shelf the next day Yoochun just kept in mind he’ll borrow the book next time he was at the library, whether that would be the day after tomorrow or in a week.
His plan however of finishing the book was foiled by somebody obtaining the book first, there was always next fortnight to grab it but he wasn’t aware of who exactly had borrowed the book, it probably just was someone who liked literature just as much as he did that or they had heard of the author. Chun though wasn’t aware it had been the stranger he’d been writing to all that time back in university.

Shrugging his shoulders he kept his eyes on the letter, opening it and being careful with its contents, even if it was just a simple letter it held some importance. “I’ve always had an interest in science but this type wasn’t my prime subject.” he refers to chemistry, instead Yoochun had studied in his spare time and read over thesis’s to comprehend the subject and most of all the effects on living things. “Your danger stares you right in the eye, mine is all by mistakes. At the end of the day we’re here doing what we think is best.”
It felt like he had hit a nerve though, religion was always a touchy subject and Yoochun never liked touching on it for reasons of offending someone. “Perhaps... but we won’t know unless he sends a messenger suddenly and that would be doubtful.” what was he even talking about? That sounded more than just ridiculous, snorting he shook his head. “Probability is all too slim.”
done speaking he opening the letter and read it, trying to make sure he wouldn’t spill any information from what he was told. Brows furrowed at its contents he slid the paper back into the envelope and placed a book over the papers. Yoochun wasn’t going to be left in peace for a while he realized, frowning at how specific Kibum had been he had slowly shrugged shoulder, this was now getting strange. “Angels? ...Why haven’t you checked the archive for this? Isn’t that the most logical answer and the best solution for you to find this information?” his tone sounding exasperated the scientist closed his eyes while thinking hard, were there angels like that here? Chun couldn’t remember if they captured any specimens like that.

Fate chooses man | Self-para
A big city is easy to get lost in, where crowds mix and people bump into each other on mere coincidence. Yes, to get swallowed into the citadel of lights was all too commonly but why? Why try to search in such a place where the lost may not want to be found.
Why indeed.
Yoochun had been doing this for years, even after quitting his search to finish university he was left in the core of Seoul watching people crossing at a distance just for that familiar face, the one that had his resemblance and same blood. Just a sign, just one glimpse may have been enough for him to scour the crossing to just grab the younger sibling if ever seen, this determination may as well destroy him.
Few years ago....
“Man doesn’t choose fate. Fate chooses man. What do you think of that?” “Woah now, since when did you get philosophical-- wait, wasn’t that from a book, Hey I was reading that, Yoohwan!” “I promise I’ll give it back when I’m done reading it, It’s just a surprise you like Murakami’s books.” There was a laugh from the boy while the older brother had studied, the younger busily reading while on his bed, bored he stood up to look over at what the elder of the two was writing down. “Biology? I thought you were working on your math.”  Yoohwan asks, wrinkling his nose as he begins comprehending the rushed handwriting, his brother however was trying to finish writing the rest of his notes in, reaching back to pinch his brothers cheek when finished doing so.
“If you give back my book I’ll help you with some of your studies since you must be struggling.” Wiggling his brows at the younger sibling Yoochun put his pen on his desk, Yoohwan laughs but waves the book in front of him. “I’m finishing it.” that was a simple taunt but before the older could respond he heard their mother call out from another room to say dinner was ready. With the book placed aside a cheeky expression appeared on the younger Park siblings face, nudging his brothers arm. “I put it down so you have to promise to help with studying tomorrow.”
Yoohwan never came home from cram school after that day, him coming home seemed like a rebellious streak but there were no explanations. Maybe like Kafka Tamura* he ran away from home but it felt meaningless, Yoochun couldn’t figure out why and perhaps was holding onto these hopes that he’d return. But there was no reason, he had no ways to get answers but yet he continued trying to scrape the barrel for at least something just one small thing... just a sign.
Standing up from the bench after he lit his cigarette  Yoochun held his hand up as he felt the rain begin falling lightly. Shaking his head the scientist put his umbrella up “Fate chooses man? What was waiting for you then, an adventure or tragedy?” he said to himself, walking back into the crowd while waiting at the crossing, walking and halting with wide eyes when passing by he turned around to follow and grasp the shoulder of a younger man. “Yoohwan?” He says their name, turning around to see a different face and one that looked annoyed Chun let go and bowed in apology, watching the figure leave down the street.
He must have been tired, over thinking and too hopeful, his heart sank to the pit of his stomach and he clenched his teeth for a moment in frustration. Embarrassing, frustrating, upsetting, and disappointing, nothing else could describe those feelings. Closing his eyes when trying to imagine Yoohwan only made the scientist grasp his umbrella tightly. “That idiot...It’s been Five years now and he still escapes me like this.” Illusion or not he felt like he was going crazy.
Five years too long, but there Yoochun was, like a fool he was waiting for his brother. “Where are you.” Perhaps within that crowd hid Yoohwan but all along he would never know in the end. The search would repeat itself while looking for leads and chasing the wind that yowled his name only until he knew of their whereabouts, dead or alive.
“God is all too cruel isn’t he and you too are cruel, brother.”

Looking around at first Chun figured no one was watching and trying to decipher the situation, it must’ve seemed shady for someone his age approaching a young girl, that really didn’t matter anyway, impressions or not people wouldn’t do or say anything knowing them, just side-eyeing and hoping it spooks Yoochun to not do anything weird.
It took him off guard how serious Joohyun sounded but once he showed the photo of a couple, her parents. “These two, they’re your parents aren’t they?” He asks at first just to clear his throat. “I apologize for not answering your question, I can’t tell you my name but I work with the organization, I wanted to talk about your parents for a moment since I’m to make a serious decision involving those two.” answering the question it felt like the weight from their questions lifted only for a moment. Waiting for Joohyun to take the photo his lips purse and he averts his gaze from theirs.
“I usually don’t do these things but this is serious and I was too curious for my own good.” he seemed like he was actually saying that to himself more than anything else. “They have been captured, you must have gathered that by now I am sure but this involves their future. Is this important to you as well Miss Bae?”

It was after taking a few steps that he stops abruptly over hearing someone  ask for his name. ‘shit.....’ an expression plastered of dread came over him as they knew his name. It wasn’t like he had his name tag on, Yoochun was never that stupid but for someone to know his name either meant they knew him in the organization.
Yoochun stares at the young man and grasps onto the concealed taser more seriously, it wasn’t worth attacking if he wasn’t provoked, hell all the scientist wants to do is defend himself and most importantly go home. “Yes... But do you have any business with me?” he sounds exhausted, starting to frown.
“It’s late, someone your age should be home by now.” Perhaps he was thinking too much about the situation but the worst case would of been the boy attacking him by now, all they did was ask for his name. Backing away for more distance he eyed him, to check for any weapons. ‘Why would he have a weapon when he could probably kill me with some power if he’s trouble...’ in the end Yoochun wants to give Taemin the benefit of the doubt keeping an eye on their movements while taking a few more steps back.
‘Stay cool... stay cool....’

For someone like Yoochun he could only be frank with his answer, staring down at his small experiment. “It’s toxic. It kills if consumed or if the skin touches it.” he could only imagine the risk he was putting himself into. Thank god the scientist wasn’t a cluts. “So perhaps this would kill someone if consumed instantly or the burn would be worse if skin touched it.”
He continues listening over their answers to him. Yoochun wasn’t sure how to even feel, his beliefs already had wavered but that was clear by where he was working right now. It still left him thinking about it. “We must earn our way to get things the way they were.” He mutters while carefully pouring the substance into a small test tube and corking it. “But, that’s too late I think.” he frowns, beginning to mull everything over. “He has forsaken those who have fallen, maybe it’s like he threw them away.”
Realizing how the other probably should maybe be going back to work the scientist took his glasses off and frowned deeply when going to grab the mail that was sent to him earlier. He can only guess what it was and how important it was to keep it secret. “Kibum-ssi... do you still have mail to deliver?”

It was always so amusing to see the biology of demons and angels, though he wasn’t a fan of trying to kill these creatures for the theories other scientists within the organization had for the things sharing the body of a human with its real host. It was questionable but lots of things pointed to this by the sporadic behavior of some acting as two different kind of people as mentioned by locators within the place. Better having a theory like that than the things being this ways because they drank some strange water or something like that.
Adjusting his coat and looking at the caged subject once he was in the white room Yoochun had sighed heavily while he went to look over the supplies first before grabbing a face mask. He had wanted to check on chemicals and the effect on demons, guessing that it’d have the same effect like they were humans and would be fatal. ‘How unfortunate, I wonder if this guy has a family or not.’ the scientist thought, freezing when trying to think how exactly he was going to force the other to consume the toxic chemicals to check his half-baked theory.
The more he thought about it the more he hesitated with the chemical compounds, putting them down and backing away he turned to his whiteboard and grabbed a marker to start writing and thinking over theories, not trying to open the cage just yet. He felt secure, albeit not completely safe but they have yet to have creature break out and escape so the possibility that the demon would get the cage open and even maybe attack seemed way too slim for him.

This was strange and he should know that he may have been in the lab for way too long if he’s starting to think that he was being followed by just an ominous feeling. “I’m just tired.” He was busily mumbling to himself to keep his mind away from that feeling he got earlier, shaking it off successfully for time being.
It had been halfway until that feeling kicked in again, frowning to himself Yoochun suddenly stops and had taken few glances around. Demons, and other creatures alike would be out at this time and here the scientist was wondering why he didn’t take his car today and drive to and from work but it was too late for that now.
Looking around some more he slowly slips his hand into his bag, inhaling slowly through his mouth while trying to stay composed despite feeling a little scared. Holding onto the taser that was concealed Yoochun started walking again, only more slowly. All he needs to do is get home, that’s all. Get home, lock the doors tightly and keep his mind off the tricks it was playing on him.
‘I am alone, the noises are just in my head... they are only in my head. Relax Park Yoochun. Relax.’ Chun thought, he was just tired wasn’t he?

Overseeing their plans when being told to grab some of the new gear Yoochun could only wonder how bad it was if they were sending three hunters after just one demon. Shaking his head with a look of amusement he already left, he knew this was a serious matter but Yoochun hoped for a safe return for the three of them. “Raiding the place at that time of night huh? Hope they don’t cause too much of commotion.” he just says to himself, hands in his coat pockets.
Day falls and the moon rises, It wasn’t very long until the three men arrived at the cafe, One already moving to the turn the security systems off and try and open the door he had given the other two the okay rush in once he was done, following them  upstairs once he got it open for them. Finding the demon one had taken out his tranquilizer gun and shot the humanoid creature, the hunters hands had began shaking when seeing he hit it or Taekwoon as it was named. Watching his teammates grab and drag it away to the van and into the cage before they all were in the van ready to drive off.
“We have caught the being, I repeat we have caught Jung Taekwoon, Proceeding to go back to base. Over.”

With hopes that they would relax Yoochun had started writing the question already before he even asked it. “First question, could you talk about the hours or.. no.. the day before September the fourth two-thousand and ten?” he leans back into his chair, keeping still this time and not even fiddling with his pen, Chuns attention now was completely on Mark.
He awaits an answer and he hopes for at least one scrap of evidence for that can be ruled as a strange occurrence, if he gets only one point then he knows he can dig deeper. Patience and have faith that this wasn’t just some lucky day... even if that sounds terrible I know the answer I want.
