Daisy giggled. "Not a gold star but I'll take the drink instead. Certainly worth my time," she nodded. She picked up what was left of her drink and chugged it, pounding the cup on the table as she finished. Her cheeks were flushed. Daisy could handle her liquor but could also feel it hitting her. It was a good, familiar feeling. It had been some time since she felt the warmth of alcohol. And to share it with good company was all the better.
"Exactly. You have to fight for it. I hope you fight for it," she raised a brow. "Do you?" she questioned. Daisy hoped he did. She hoped everyone did as everyone deserved it. And Fenrir was no different.
Suddenly, Daisy remembered the name Fenrir. It wasn't a common name. He was a werewolf and a Death Eater. She leaned in and looked at him. She could have easily gotten up and walked away. She could have given him hell. However, that wasn't her style. He had done nothing to her. In fact, he was being the absolute opposite. As the drinks came, Daisy took her drink and gulped. He was worth her time.
As she shook her hand, Daisy's hand was firm. "You're quite the interesting person, Fen. Glad to be drinking with you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"A new one, huh? I think I can swing that." Not what she meant, of course, but why not? He still waved at the barkeep for another round. No surprise, Greyback had already drained his own. "Not exactly a gold star, but..." he trailed off, shrugging. "Something worth your time, at least." Let it never be said that he was cheap—even if it was only because he knew the bartender wouldn't chase him for the cheque. The smile he offered was much less toothy than usual. "I would. I've found that if you're not willing to fight for it, you're not going to get it." It was the undercurrent of his worldview, this might-makes-right philosophy... but it was not all that different from the status quo, either. For better or for worse. Usually for worse. "Nice to meet you, Dais," he said, giving her hand a firm, honest shake. You could tell a lot about someone by the way they shook hands.

Daisy couldn't wait for the special knocks on her door. She had been so bored and Char had come to her rescue. They had been messaging back and forth about tagging outside her building followed by really tagging elsewhere later. But first, hearts that she could see outside her window everyday -- a memory of glorious times with one of her best friends. She was thrilled.
This was something she and Char hadn't done in way too long. Daisy loved making things pretty and fun while Char loved making a more pertinent statement. This day was about both of them. The messages were foreplay and Daisy was on pins and needles.
Finally the secret knock came ringing through. Daisy popped up and ran to the door, jerking it open. "Char!" she exclaimed, giving them a big hug. "You ready for this?"
Tumblr media
It didn't take Charity long to gather their paints into a duffle bag and make their way to Daisy's place. It had been a while since they'd been out tagging together and she was looking forward to decorating her garage however they pleased. It would be an excellent warmup for their task later in the night, when they would properly tag the home of a member of the school board. With a smile on her face, she walked right up to Daisy's door and gave the usual rap of her knuckles against it, a tune all of their friends were familiar with by that point. "Are you ready to throw some paint?" She asked with a grin the moment the door swung open.

"I love being on a roll. It's always a good sign," Daisy smiled softly, "that chart is getting quite full. I might need a new one."
Daisy was having a wonderful time. This man was one of a kind. She had never met anyone like him. It was like a breathe of fresh air. He truly engaged with her and made her laugh. The conversation was flowing with ease. And there were drinks. What more could she ask for? Nothing. Daisy was genuinely happy to have the company and to meet someone new. She loved meeting new people so this was perfect for her.
"Wow, another gold star? Damn. Check me out!" She turned her head to him in a more serious way. "Good fortune may not be easy but it's something to fight for. Always. Wouldn't you agree?" she asked in a genuine way.
Daisy reached her hand out to the man she had been speaking to so frankly. "And my name is Daisy. My friends call me Dais. It's nice to meet you Fen." She shook his hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Don't stop now, you're on a roll. Still plenty of stars out there to add to your chart," he said, smirking as he took another gulp from his drink. Fenrir could feel eyes on him now—it was only natural that as an obvious half-breed, he would draw human attention, but it was more obvious now than it would have been if he was drinking alone. Was it so hard to believe he could just enjoy a conversation? They liked to think of him as a bloodthirsty monster—and he was, but at the very least he had it in him to be a sensible one. Greyback grunted in agreement. "I think you've earned another gold star." Unfortunately, good fortune didn't grow on trees. It was more like something you had to dig out of the mud... but by Merlin's crusty old socks, he would. He always had. "Fenrir," he introduced, holding out a meaty paw for her to take... if she dared; "but my friends call me Fen."

I love rereading books because then you start noticing all these little details and hints you missed the first time and it changes your whole perception of the book

✉ | Char ⇄ Daisy
Char: Not when you've got such a brilliant idea. Char: We'll cover as much of the wall as we can, then. What are you thinking, a garage? Char: After we're done with your place? Yeah. The cover of night would be better for tagging the jackass's place anyway. Char: Give me a few love, and i'll be right over.
Daisy: I'm full of brilliant ideas. But they would be nothing without the creative outlet known as Char! Daisy: The garage outside my place would be fantastic. You're so smart. :))) Daisy: It's a date! Do the secret door knock when you get here!

"Right for a second time? Another gold star for my chart," Daisy smiled, "a knack for sure." Daisy wasn't ashamed of the fact that she was good at reading people. She had the inkling that she should be wary of the man across from her, however he was pleasant to her. He was even charming. True, charm can be sneaky -- another thing Daisy was aware of -- but she was comfortable for the time being. He was what he was in the moment and she would take that. The company was good and the firewhiskey was good. What could be better than that?
Good fortune. How did he know Daisy needed some really good fortune? Perhaps because everyone always needed some good fortune in their lives. "To good fortune. Something we all need." She raised her glass. "And to new friends. What is my new friend's name?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Obvious, is it? I'd wager you're right about that too. You've got a real knack for it." There was certainly nothing wrong with indulging every now and again... or maybe a little bit more than that, even. Greyback had never seen the sense in denying himself anything. Whatever came of it was nothing a little magic couldn't fix. "I believe you," he said, lip twitching with amusement. He did believe her, in fact—she could probably drink anyone else under the table. Not him, though. "To good fortune," he continued, lifting his glass to toast hers. "Merlin knows I could use some."

✉ | Tilden ⇄ Daisy
Tilden: well if I'm at 100 you break the scale, duh Tilden: I'm saying elephants are beautiful?? Tilden: d'you think an elephant and a bunny could be friends in nature? I think they would be a very cute unlikely animal couple Tilden: couple as in friends! Like, two people, or animals i guess, haha...
Daisy: All the flattery, Tidly! What did I do to deserve it all?!? Daisy: You're making me blush. eep! Daisy: Of course an elephant and cute bunny could be friends! Did you know that in The Jungle Book elephants were considered the most respected animals in the jungle? All the other animals kneeled to them ...literally. Crazy, huh? So of course they would care for the bunnies! Daisy: Not such an unlikely couple! Instead a totally a lovely one!

"How could you not know Casablanca?!" Daisy exclaimed. She loved the black and white classics. She also loved the earlier musicals like Hello, Dolly!, Guys and Dolls and Fiddler on the Roof -- just to name a few. "You need some education, Tildy. We need to have loads of movie nights! The good old classics and musicals. You have to see My Fair Lady! I bet you haven't seen it," she gave him a side glance. Daisy was on a tangent but movies were a huge part of her existence. "Name the time and place and I'll be there to educate you," Daisy smiled and wide as she could.
When the eggs, toast, sausages, tater tots and beans were placed in front of Daisy she tilted her head and pouted when he took the away the syrup. "How do you eat beans for breakfast anyway?" and made a face.
Daisy went in for the eggs. She knew she liked eggs. To be honest, she knew she liked all of Tilden's usual ...except for the beans. But it wasn't sweet. She loved starting her day with the sweetness and sugar. "These eggs are good but they would be better with cheese." She raised a brow. Then all of a sudden --
"So wait, you didn't get my Casablanca reference?!" her eyes almost popped out of her head.
Tumblr media
"I've actually never seen Casablanca..." Tilden admitted, bracing himself for her to come back and say something along the lines of: oh my goodness it's a classic how have you never seen it before?! It was a reaction most people gave him when they realize he hasn't seen a lot of the classics. "Perhaps we should rent it to watch together. Invite the rest of the hufflegang and make a night of it." He suggested, giving her a bit of a pleading look. In all honesty, he would rather it be just the two of them, but he didn't want Daisy to mistake it as him asking her on a date. Which...... He wished he was brave enough to do such a thing.
As the waitress approached with their food, Tilden almost instantly felt regret as the French toast was placed down in front of him. How could Daisy do it every day? Start her day off with something so sweet? At her words, Tilden's eyes shot up, widened. "Ahh - maybe hold off on smothering it in syrup? Just in case." He said, snatching the bottle of syrup off the table before she even had the chance to reach for it.
"You're gonna have to show me the proper way to drown my meal." Tilden laughed, knowing Daisy was quite particular in how she liked her breakfast.

Daisy was absolutely engrossed. The reminder of what spells not to use during her year of not being a muggle was flowing through her. Not only was it the obviously cleaning spells, opening locks or summoning charms. But she was reminded that she couldn't use potions. It seemed so simple but she hadn't realized how much she relied on them. She wasn't good at making them but spent a good amount of time at the apothecary. When she realized something that should have been obvious there was slight panic in her chest. Not to mention apparating. Again, something so obvious but she had become so used to using it that it had worked its way into the fabric of her life. She would have to walk everywhere. Or use transportation in London proper. The list went on.
All of a sudden Daisy looked up in thought and saw someone standing, looking in her direction. "Oh, my sincerest apologies!" she threw her quill down. "I hope you weren't waiting for too long. I got so into what I was writing that I wasn't paying attention. Again, I'm so sorry!" Daisy was flustered. She didn't really know the woman too well which made her that much more uncomfortable and babble. "I'm more than happy to help you. My writing can wait, I assure you -- what can I call you? I'm Daisy," she reached her hand out to introduce herself.
When she had glanced at Daisy's journal, Daisy carefully closed it and picked up the quill moving it to the table behind her as if she was simply clearing the table. Because she didn't know her she wasn't sure she wanted to share her plans.
"Languages, of course. I'm sure we can find something to get you on the right track. What are you working on concerning merpeople and goblins?"
Tumblr media
Despite the love of books, the usual new edition much preferred to the old hand-me-downs found in such stores, occasionally even someone like Estelle could find her way to the Second-Hand bookstore in Diagon Alley. While Flourish&Blotts was the better alternative, even the witch had to admit that their stock of older books had its advantages. Her hopes of finding something on the language of goblins and merpeople had carried her into the small little corner of the alley.
Upon arrival, though, it appeared as though the person within the store had things much better to do than pay mind to the potential customers flocking into the store. How many minutes had she been staring, just observing quietly before the one in front of her had finally noticed her presence? "Oh, please. I'm sure you have better things to do than attending to matters at hand. Would hate me to draw you away from whatever was so important."
Tumblr media
The blonde glanced around, noticing how empty the store was. Her heels clicked on the wooden floor as the moved toward Daisy, eyes falling onto the journal. "I need something on languages. Merepeople and goblins. If that isn't too much to ask. If not I'll happily wait and watch you scribble away at whatever that little journal of yours holds." Her eyes shot back up, eyebrows raised. - @xdaisyhookumx

"I have a good tendency to be right," Daisy smirked, "though I am disappointed I didn't say you liked your drinks more than once in a while. It's pretty obvious if I say so myself. Just words, I suppose. But nothing wrong with some drinks to kill the time." And the pain.
"I always keep some firewhiskey at home. Never know when you're going to need it. It's definitely better than what they've got here but it'll do for the time being." She could feel eyes on her and looked at the bar, the bartender giving her a snide look. Daisy just shrugged.
She was glad when Fenrir was the one to ask for the two drinks. Not simply because of her comment but because of his imposing appearance. Perhaps Daisy should be more afraid or apprehensive but she wasn't in any way. In fact, he was rather cute. Well, cute in that rugged, messy kind of way.
"Don't you worry. I've got this." As the drinks came to the table, Daisy raised her glass. "To what do we toast?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Too right, you are. 'Course I prefer a little more than just once in a while... but the good part doesn't matter as much, then." He couldn't say with any confidence that the firewhiskey here even fit those qualifications—there was certainly better out there. It was mediocre at best. Cheap, though, and that was all he cared about. That said, he would have taken just about anything if someone offered it. Who turned down free drinks, once the suspicion of an assassination attempt was cleared? Galleons didn't grow on trees, even when it came to crime. Greyback snorted, but obligingly growled at the bartender for two more. This time, they didn't hover fearfully awaiting payment. Some of them could learn. "Just don't point my way if it comes back up to bite you."

"And you should believe me. I'd never lie to you. Never have, never will." Daisy smiled softly and easily. She wasn't the type to lie to anyone but with Tilden? There would never be a chance. He was her favorite person and that person isn't someone to lie to. He deserved all good things and Daisy wanted to give those things as much as she could and being a true best friend was worth more than anything she could ever do.
"Film. Excuse me, Sir." She gave a small laugh. She would go between English and American lingo. She couldn't help it. "Well, what film would it be?" She pondered. "Ooo! Casablanca! Classic, black and white film known by everyone." The fact that the film had war themes and romance was something she chose to ignore.
"A creature of habit? You are a habit!" she said as they sat at the table and settling in. "I can't wait to have my own tots this morning. Though I will be missing my syrup. Unless...there's no hard and fast rule that says I can't put it on your usual food," she looked at him for his reaction.
When the waitress brought their food, Daisy opened her silverware before digging in. "Here's looking at you, kid."
Tumblr media
"You're one of a few people I actually believe," Tilden laughed softly, knowing that he would believe absolutely anything Daisy told him. She was his best friend, why would she ever lie to him? "Well maybe we are in an old film." He laughed again, emphasizing the word film. Daisy had been in England for the majority of her life, yet still can't shake those American-isms. It was adorable, really, one of the many things on the long list of reasons why Tilden loved her. "Could be cameras filming us right now."
"I know, I know, I'm a creature of habit. But I'm feeling a bit spontaneous and adventurous today and want to try something else." Listening to her idea, Tilden considered it for a moment. He wasn't really one for something sweet in the morning, but was willing to try it, as it was Daisy's favourite. A moment later was he nodding his head in agreement, thinking that it was the best way to go about him trying new things. "You're brilliant, you know that?" Tilden beamed, "And this time I get to be the one stealing tater tots off your plate." He turned and called over their waitress, requesting their usual but for the plates to be put in opposite locations for today.

"I'm cruel and overly confident? What are you trying to say?" If it had been anyone else, Daisy might think they were being serious but since it was Dirk she knew better. "I guess I can share cute and lovable with the likes of you," she winked. Daisy couldn't help but love Dirk. He was always a breath of fresh air with a childlike attitude that always surrounded him. It allowed hers to flow as well -- though she didn't need his permission, of course. There was a reason the two got along so well.
"You may not sit still long enough to get dusty but you do realize how dust works, right? If it's already there and you sit on it..." she just looked at him, "it transfers, right?" A little smile crossed her face. "I'll bet you have a dusty bum." She pulled her lips in and nodded her head. "Don't you dare judge the dust situation here! Books catch dust quicker than anything -- especially used books!" she punched his shoulder. "I do my best to keep up with the dust but it's hard -- get that judging look out of your eye!"
She rolled her eyes when he pointed out he was full muggle. "Rubbing it in my face that you're full muggle." Daisy loved all things muggle and was a tad jealous of the muggleborns. There was something exceptional about them. They became part of a world that they didn't know existed. They got to learn about a new world with fresh eyes. They were truly special.
"Of all things, you would choose cleaning spells."
Tumblr media
Dirk rolled his eyes, “Y’know, a less confident person would be forever broken by your cruelty and lack of validation. As it stands, I have every faith in myself.” Dirk would never describe himself as cocky, but he’d been well-raised and understood his value. “Hmm…. You’ll do.” He said grinning like a goober at the kiss. Being a tactile creature, he was happy for almost any kind of physical affection.
“We both know I’ll never sit still enough for any part of me to get dusty.” Plus, ever practical, Dirk had a particular mastery of cleaning spells. If he could handle his chores in a few minutes it left more time to train, play or hang out with people (and beings and creatures too of course). “Besides, if you have a dusty shop it’s my duty to find said dust and judge you for it.”
“Well I’m full muggle, I win.” Dirk winked, “Personally I can’t say I find it as interesting as you Daisy-Mae,” he shrugged, “I guess being raised so much in both kinda made muggle and wizard society par for the course with me... Household tasks are real different though, cleaning spells are the best.”
