so this turned into an oc post rather than an s/i post first LOL

i've been [over time] revamping an old lion king oc who is so unabashedly edgy.. i wuv him a lot, he's my specialist boy ever <3<3

meet Atieno !! taken from his original home & family, Atieno was raised to be an assassin for nearly his entire life. his purpose is to rid the Pridelands of Scar's decedents & followers, unaware that his targets have now since turned over a new leaf.

his design hasn't actually changed all that much - mostly hue shifts & adding some small markings. his leg gradients & stripes have just been that iconic.

Atieno's story culminates in him trying to kill Kovu, but getting intercepted by unexpected Buff Wife Kiara. from there, he has to grapple with the fact his entire purpose is null, after he's shown proof that Scar's influence is no more. Kovu gets to sort of teach him how to be his own person, in a thematic "former living weapon" bookend~ it's kinda simple, but i still really like it!

some extra notes, i [like many others] headcanon Kiara as sapphic & now dating Vitani [who is butch <3<3]. i also headcanon Kovu as gay/achillean or possibly bi; he & Kiara were just circling each other for an entire movie because of comphet lol

also fun fact, Atieno is actually from a kind of.. Kimba-Lion King melting pot AU, where Kimba & his family rule over an ambiguous "jungle" area, but aren't all that connected to what's happening in the Pridelands. they're just there because i liked Kimba as a concept & i might try to keep that in LOL this was all made back in 2016 - 2017, & i wasn't super plugged into the Lion Guard's plotlines [let alone the most recent reboot/prequel nonsense], so it's mostly just TLK 1 & 2 fic.

also a bonus, here's an "on-model" Atieno, using a Kion base~

i might make the backwards mohawk part of his actual design [bc i can neevveerrr resist a good mohawk], but.. the floofy forelock is just so him. shall have to experiment.

Freckles / Spike, he/him but also some neopronouns that i haven't decided on yet.

his design is roughly based off bi-color appaloosa markings! his sparkle palette & eye color is super flexible, but is generally some flavor of blurple. i might add to his sparkle design at some point, but this is the gist of him!

for a canon storyline, he's kind of a bouncer for those who wish to see Scourge, rather than a bodyguard. [that's Brick & Bone's job.] he's the one who decides if you're even worth Scourge's time of day. he's mostly angry stoic when he's on duty, but is actually pretty chill.

i don't know if it's more fun for him to be on the smaller side, or impossibly tall. regardless, i like the idea that he was the runt of his litter, & that alone made Scourge consider him for a decently high position within the colony - since he knows from experience that smaller cats are more often picked on/bullied to extremes.

he doesn't exactly approve of Scourge's iron fist method of running Bloodclan, but also knows if he speaks up that he's good as dead. he just does as he's told because that's what keeps him safe.

i think i want him to have participated in the battle for the forest, but hesitantly. gets dragged along even though he's really just the gate guard & doesn't have battlefield training of any kind. barely survives & manages to get back to the city. haven't thought of anything beyond that.

HOWEVER, i also Really like the thought of this... kind of tense relationship with Scourge, where Spike here was chosen as a sort of "heir" to Bloodclan & Scourge is highkey obsessed with him. Spike doesn't really want to be here in the first place, but can't say no out of fear of being exiled, killed, or something worse.

i think either angle [mostly nobody VS chosen heir] would be really fun.

for his whatever-goes sparklecats storyline, Bloodclan is less "evil city cats" & more along the lines of a haven for the "weird kids." there's queer allegories left, right & center, & its drowning in scenemo aesthetics.

it's not even really a clan, as there's no one specific leader or cat that everyone looks to. it's more a collective of freaks who take care of each other. the moniker & aesthetic of "Bloodclan" is more like a rainbow pin on someone's shirt.

the forest clans always kind of struck me as culty to some degree [they're already very catholic coded LOL], & i think i'd really wanna lean into that in this 'verse. i don't have too much in mind for this yet, but know that I Am Cooking. i think it'd be cathartic for me to make the clans villainous churches, as a treat, but i don't want to do so for shock value.

because i like playing around with fanon ideas & original clans, but also want an s/i that could fit in the canon books, i've got !! two !!! beasties in mind.

canon-complacent guy would either be Shadowclan or Windclan, a white & black cat called Birchmoth. probably a warrior, but would [unofficially] be primarily a hunter. i like the idea of him being Shadowclan, but possibly like.. roughly first journey-era, or maybe power of three. oh god i have to decide what arc-era i'd primarily put him in. help. i don't know if i have any canon character(s) i ship him with, as it's been a reaallllyyy long time since i read warriors- tbh he's probably just going to be a self-insert with no ship, because i'm a cool & based aromatic king like that.

Birchmoth has a design, shout out to the epic felidaze picrew & SunglowCrafts base for his current refs <3 i'll draw him myself eventually lol

the go crazy go stupid fanon guy is called Dragonfly !! they have a suffix-prefix name as well, Dragonfly is just their "common" name amongst friends/loved ones. i haven't fully decided on it yet, so. poses cutely. they're part of a traveling colony, who moves camps as the seasons change, so they get to interact with a bunch of different groups. i kind of see them as like.. almost a merchant guild/collective, as they'd trade with the various groups they meet. this is also a huge excuse for them to be able to meet with any faction i want, be them canon or original !!

they. don't have a design, as of yet. i'm kind of thinking dark blue... classic or sokoke tabby?? maybe???? idk yet, they're still very fuzzy in my mind's eye.

giving my borderlands self-insert a pupmask for his primary design has been the best design & character choice i've ever made.

i've always wanted a chance to lean into the "punks & kinksters openly wearing their gear, because who the fuck's gonna stop them when the world's gone to hell" trope. borderlands is like, perfect for that <3

wondering how & why Shadow might get into vault hunting in a Borderlands 'verse. maybe, like... he gets jettisoned from the ARK a different way that chucks him/an escape pod Way Too Far. or maybe he was developed by a manufacturer; something similar to his canon story goes down, and he winds up on Pandora afterword. honestly, i think i like the second option more. him being one of the very few aliens that anyone on Pandora has seen, i'd image a fair amount of people won't know what the hell they're looking at.

It’s alright if your S/I isn’t a mirror image of the “real” you, if it’s an idealized version of what you wish you could be for whatever reason— to be more appealing to your F/O, more attractive or stronger or braver than you feel you are in the waking world.

Even if it’s only a mask you wear to feel worthy of your F/O, they see it and see you. No matter how you present yourself your F/O adores you endlessly and there’s no shame in wanting to be something more… Yet there’s courage in being who you are already as well.
