there has been nothing more beneficial to me than making the transition from:
"im a cheerful happy bubbly person who's hiding a deep dark secret that I'm horrifically mentally ill"
to:
"im a cheerful happy positive person in spite of my mental illness!! i have bad days and that's okay, being positive to others makes those bad days better"

☆ Special take:
If there's someone trying to belittle your trauma for any reason remember:
Trauma does not care about whether you have money or not
Trauma does not care whether it was a one time event or not
Trauma does not care what the event might have been
Trauma does not care if you were young or old
Trauma does not care about any of these things, trauma is trauma, and how it affects you is valid

"If tulpas aren't real why has no one complained that it doesn't work?"
Because when you teach someone to "fake it till you make it" they're going to fully convince themselves something is happening when it's not. Telling people to convince themselves they're experiencing something they aren't is harmful, it's dangerous, it disconnects them from reality, it hurts them.
You can believe in your own shit. If you want to believe that you created an imaginary friend that's sentient then you do you, but don't push other people to doing that. If the only way you can create a tulpa is to lie to yourself until you start to believe it, you're not creating anything but a state of psychosis.

(tw: drug use)
worst experience ive had with an endo was me saying in a discord i was high as hell (because i was, indeed, High As Hell and i am an adult man (bodily dw) in a legal state who is allowed to do that!!) and someone said i should switch in with someone who wasnt high. hey. Hey buddy. Hey. Hey that isnt. Hey it doesnt work like that. Hey my body can not control who is immune to weed. Hey
oh jeez... Another example of how endos are just downright stupid. First; you (usually) can't control when you switch and second; even if you could there's an unlikely chance you're going to have an alter who isn't high. Maybe there'll be one with a higher tolerance or something, but I highly doubt there'd just be one who isnt high— why do they act like everything is a damn game? Like you can pick and chose whatever you want? That's not how life works (unfortunately)

if you self diagnose... you're super cool!
Tumblr media
talked to my therapist regarding diagnosis and she told me that essentially diagnosis is just a tool to get the framework of how your brain functions.
there are criteria for diagnosis but when you already have several you're gonna be more likely to meet the criteria for others even if they may not apply to you.
she says a good way to phrase it when you aren't formally diagnosed is "i identify" ie "i identify with DID and OCPD". she used my autism as an example, something I've had my entire life but only recently got formally diagnosed. ive had it my entire life and grown accustomed to the symptoms and how to deal with it. nothing changed when i got diagnosed only now i KNOW i have autism for sure. she even said that she would advise in letters to doctors etc that those diagnosis are something i identify with.
so if you're struggling to get a diagnosis! it's okay, just do your research and you can say you identify with the diagnosis all you want! there is absolutely no shame in wanting to know what's different about your brain and there's no shame in identifying with a particular label for it either!

if your takes on endogenics has the overall message of "don't divide up the community" then you're missing the entire point of everything anti-endos stand for. those with CDDs and endogenics are not, and should not, be in the same community.
i don't mind endogenics. it's not my business whether their plurality is legitimate but they do not have CDDs and nor do they have the same experience as someone who experienced plurality due to a CDD. and no, that isn't me projecting the fact im miserable on the community it's just how CDDs work.
the reason we are so adamant about having our own terminology that is separate from endogenics is because we all eventually reach a time where we need to tell the outside world about our CDD, whether that be a new therapist we are terrified of judging us, family members that are calling us the wrong name, higher ups at work who we need to be professional with, whoever - endogenics using CDD terms makes this so much more difficult as they blur the line of what being a system is, it's causes and how it functions.
it's not wrong to be endogenic. but it is different from a CDD and it's important for everyone's well-being that is acknowledged. the communities should be separate because they're completely separate things.

daily amnesia in DID is something i don't see talked about that much, i see regular amnesia (ie not being able to remember years of your life, traumatic memories etc) talked about but never the daily things.
daily amnesia is on a day to day basis never being able to remember important things, did i take my medicine this morning? did i shower yesterday? have i eaten yet? what have i been doing for the past hour? what was i supposed to do today?
daily amnesia REALLY fucking sucks because whenever you start suffering you remember every other time you've been suffering and just scold yourself for not getting help and not getting better - but when the moment it's over? it's completely gone from your memory. it's so much suffering and you're so stuck because how can you ever get help for something you can't remember? you're always in a constant state of 'feeling fine' and when you end up getting help and going to therapy there's nothing to talk about because there's nothing you remember.
every day is groundhog day where you are forced against your will to repeat it over and over for god knows how long.

If you work a job, or are doing school, and there’s (a) specific alter/s who primarily handle it…
Try to let them know you appreciate what they do, if you have not already. And even if you have you might do it again. Maybe write them a card, draw a picture, or do something special for them. If they’re okay with that sort of thing.

my headmate was saying something, and I found it quite funny-
"call it dissociative identity disorder the way I- ...I???"
