After the Inquisition and even after Trespasser (where Alnirafenen disbands the Inquisition and hopes to change Solas' mind), Alnira finds herself stuck in a world she had never had any interest in being in. She's still "The Inquisitor" (or, even worse, the "Herald of Andraste"). All sorts of people in power and nobles want her at their gatherings/parties. Most of the time they don't even want her there to chat with her, just to say that they had the Inquisitor or the Herald at their event. I imagine she still feels like a fish out of water. She's a Dalish elf who is still front and center in a human world. Not even just a human world, but the highbrow human world. She has to wear SHOES for Mythal's sake! She hates shoes! There is nothing more that she wants to do than to discard her shoes, let her hair down, and run off into the woods. She still wants to make flower crowns for her friends. She wants to gather ingredients for potions and sleep under the stars. Those who truly knew her, knew her as "wild" and "untamed." She was a force of innocent chaos, if that makes any sense. Seeing her now, though, one has to wonder where that young woman went. After Veilguard, I imagine she finally goes back to her roots. She looses all sense of formality and returns to the forest. of course, if she romanced Solas, she does join him in the fade. Still, though, she returns to that youthful, wild young woman that she was. Regardless, she leaves the politicking behind. "Tell everyone I died," she would say (to Dorian, to Josephine, to whoever). Let her be who she is. Let her run free and be wild. Let twigs and leaves and flowers adorn her hair and mud cake the hem of her dresses at least five inches deep. Let her have dirt under her finger nails. Let her dance around the fire and sing old Dalish songs that she grew up hearing. Let her be Alnirafenen Lavellan, not the Inquisitor or the Herald of a being she never even believed in in the first place. And Vunleas? Let him be a dad. He's a dad at this point in his life. Canon is that he has either a biological or adopted kid with Cassandra, but I'm always down to playing around with that!

GAME OF THRONES Season 3, Episode 8 dir. Michelle MacLaren

Pre-Veilguard struggles with the idea of not leading the search for Solas. Even if he is not romanced, he was very dear to her as a friend and a mentor, so she would want to do what she could to talk him down. Of course she trusts Varric and Harding to lead the search, but she would hate to be put on the back burner. Especially before shit hits the fan because she hates having to be the political pawn passed off at every fancy function where she has to wear shoes. gross. Let her live her life. Let her be out in the mud searching every loose end for him! Let her help Varric and Harding and eventually Rook!

Of course, once shit does hit the fan and the south is ravaged as badly as it is, she would struggle to find her priorities. Of course, the south has so many people that she trusts to take care of things. Her brother, Cassandra, Leliana (who is my canon divine), Cullen, the rest of her inner circle. Literally, all of them she knows can handle it without her. She would struggle, however, with deciding which of her priorities she should focus on. Keeping the south from dying? Helping take down the Evanuris? Saving Solas from himself? How would she react to what Solas did? Could she truthfully get over it? So many things to work out.
