Gabriella had easily adjusted to the time difference compared to home, but she still felt exhausted nearly all the time. She put that down to stress, above all, and perhaps just a bit of homesickness: England was a beautiful country, and every day she wasn't there was another day she missed it dearly. One of the perks of being here, however, was that you could see the stars, and it was something you couldn't do back home. The Princess was walking along the beach admiring the view when she saw somebody walking towards her, pissed out of his mind --- she immediately felt uncomfortable, and held her breath, hoping to walk right past him.
It was when he didn't that she worried. He tried talking to her, and she shook her head, walking even quicker: intoxicated people made her nervous, and rightly so. His grip on her was tight and he pushed her back against one of the huge rocks on the sand, pinning her against it by her wrists. Gabriella shouted, trying endlessly to get him off her and get away, but she never had been very strong, she never had to be. She didn't even see what happened by the time he had let go of her, but when she opened her eyes, she saw who made him.

Avoiding her mother could only last so long until she knew she had to fulfill her duties as both a daughter and a princess and face whatever there was to be faced. Gabriella was not a child, nor did she usually act like one: she was, however, angry. To force your child into a marriage whilst she was only nineteen years old was cruelty in her eyes.
"Gabriella, it is time you stop acting like a brat and begin to act like a royal." Her mother began, and the female sighed, dipping her finger in the cupcake icing and licking it off. They were stood by a table full of them.
"Mother, he is six years older than me. I am uncomfortable." She hissed, staring at the woman intently with a frown. "Who are you to say that I will rule better with a man by my side? I am more than capable of---"
"---Well, you have hardly shown that, Gabriella. Your father and I believe that this is a well suited match, and a brilliant alliance to be made. You may just grow to like him." Interrupted Maria, who was looking disapprovingly at her daughter eating the food in such a manner.
"I doubt that." It was murmured quietly, and only when she heard her mother's name called out did she place the cupcake down and turn around to look at her future mother in law and fiance. A smile made its way to her face, the most charming she could manage whilst in the situation. "Why, thank you, your highness. You look as beautiful as ever." Gabriella curtsied slightly as her own mother gave her a look, and then she glanced back upwards, her gaze landing on Markus. "Hello."
"Adina, my dear. It has, hasn't it? And, my, Markus. You've grown into quite the handsome man. I am so glad we can finally do this. Why don't we give you two some time to catch up, perhaps? Get to know each other a little better." It was quickly that the dark haired woman was bowing out, bringing the other Queen with her, and Gabriella looked at her in desperation before turning back to Markus.
"My apologies for my mother’s abruptness, she's very excited for us to marry." It was forward and honest, but still polite.
The Inevitable Meeting
“I’m still not sure why you’re staying,” Markus said as the pair came around the corner.
“What? Can’t a mother make sure her son is settled well?” the older woman asked innocently.
“You’ve seen to that,” Markus pointed out. “And I am old enough to survive on my own outside of the country, I should think.”
“Are you?”
Markus frowned at his mother.
“Your father and I wanted to be sure the security was up to standard, and I thought I would take advantage of this parents’ weekend to not be conspicuous,” Adina replied, adjusting her necklace. “Would you rather I come back later?”
“No, I would rather you not,” he said in clipped tones.
“Then what do you want, Markus?” the queen said, rounding on him, tired of the attitude. “Do you want to go home? Do you want to snub one of our allies, one of the strongest countries in the world? Do you want to go marry a normal girl like a romance novel?”
“No,” he answered strongly, the pair continuing towards the next corner, lowering his voice again. “No, I just want–” He was cut off as the hall opened into a larger room and he recognized the two English nobles standing near the center.
“Maria,” his mother called warmly, not losing a step as she approached the foreign queen. “It has been too long,” she greeted. “And my, Gabriella, you’ve certainly grown into a lovely young woman,” she added, turning her friendly smile on the daughter.
Markus, unprepared and far less adept than his mother, offered a somewhat stilted smile and a nod to each lady. “Good morning,” he said to the pair. Trying not to stare at Gabriella, his apparent future, and so taking the chance to look at the room around them.

“I mean, sometimes she believes she is a Greek deity, but i’d say she hardly looks like one.”
“Unless your mother is a statue of some greek deity, then you are definitely safe.”

“Are you sure? I don’t think if I can risk it.”
“Uh nope, no mothers out there.” Arya chuckled, glancing down at the other woman.

“Well, I mean, until I need to pee, or when I want food.” She grinned, watching her sit down and leaning back slowly. “What brings you to the cleaning cupboard, anyway? If you’re on your break.”
“ so you’re planning on staying here for the entire week ? ” drew questioned with a chuckle, before shrugging and closing the door, flopping down next to the girl. “ i’m on my break, if you want some company. ”

Gabriella grinned. “We can always maintain relationships, can we not? I mean, we’re practically related.” She teased, smirking at his words.
“Okay, okay.” He sighed, leaning back against the wall. “Bonding? Yeah? I mean not that Canada and England need to like each other more than we already do. We’re sort of America’s less rebellious brother that decided not to run away from England at 16, you know?”

Gabriella smiled at him gratefully, tucking some hair behind her ear as she sat listening. “Aren’t you kind.” She tilted her head, then nodded. “Have you spent any time with him yet?”
Bran chuckled at what she said and he move din to sit down beside her against the wall. “Alright, I’ll sit here with you” He smirked and glanced over at the girl. “My father is here, I bet he’s looking for me right now”

Gabriella had to be honest and say she didn’t recognise the girl, but she seemed sweet enough. She shrugged her shoulders. “I have a pretty good hiding spot here. I don’t think I can risk getting found by leaving.”
drew released a slight chuckle at the description, glancing outside once again in search for the woman. “ i don’t think she’s out here. ” she told the other girl. “ okay, i think i get why you’re hiding. but i don’t think your mother is out here, don’t you want to get out of the cleaners cupboard ? ”

“Then I refuse to leave until she has left.” Gabriella sighed, tugging her knees to her chest as she looked up at her friend. “Your parents here?”
“Bran looked behind himself asd the girl spoke and he suddenly closed it behind them. “I have no idea. There are a lot of people in there” He silenly said then.

Gabriella leaned her head backwards against the wall, clearly exhausted, but held her smile up for the other nevertheless. She may have been stubborn and reckless, but she was kind above all else. “About fifty. Long dark hair. Looks really mean?” She offered, then looked around, shrugging. “My mother has been here all but a day and is already frustrating me. She’s also trying to get me to spend time with my betrothed. So, i’m hiding from her.”
drew stopped at her tracks, finding the girl on the floor inside the cleaners cupboard. she thought she heard quiet noises coming from there and made sure to check, she didn’t expect to find a princess there, though. “ i - uh, i don’t know what your mother looks like, and there are some people out here.. ” she mumbled, glancing outside before bringing her eyes back to the girl. “ why are you hiding ? if you don’t mind me asking. ”

“Hey, look, it was an accident, okay? ---” Her recklessness more often than not got her, and others, into trouble. “Just say you were bonding with friends. Creating alliances and all that.”
“Our parents are waiting for us and thanks to you we’re locked in here.” He fretted, shaking his head, “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to get mad at you. It’s just – my mom is going to kill me …”
