Software Development using C# (Bootcamp)
Week 6 done ✨ Almost halfway through the bootcamp 🥳
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We started the backend project last week, this project is a teamwork and each team has 5 students. Honestly, I was scared of it because being the only one with a biology degree in a whole class of tech students made me overthink how will I do in teamwork and how I will definitely screw up everything and it’s true I made so many mistakes as expected (today lesson the hardest orz) but i am so glad my team members are so kind and they help me a lot 🥹
What i have learned from the bootcamp in the past 2 weeks 💻
- Database
- Data modeling
- Relationship: 1-1, 1-M, M-M
- REST architecture
- HTTP methods & status codes
- Introduction to ASP.NET Core
- Webapi template & Swagger
- Create endpoints for CRUD operations
- Handle & return  error in webapi
- Using controller and service folder with dependency injection
- Authentication & Authorization (role base)
- Introduction to ORMs
- Relations in EF Core
- Config database with Npgsql
(Yes, all of this in 2 weeks sobbbs)
Now let’s talk about C# again
- i am 50% done with codecademy course
- I Finished Bro Code C# videos (highly recommended and I plan to watch his React videos soon)
I am also almost done with my React first course ✨
Oh yeah Last but not least, this bootcamp gives us career advice classes related to developers' jobs, interviews, and how to have a good CV, LinkedIn, and github (if you are a friend on Discord, dm me so I can send you all the amazing stuff 💫)

I finished the next JavaScript certification project! :D
This one was a little bit more of a challenge than I'd expected it to be. Not the coding part, but the actual Roman numeral math conversion part. That system is rather irritating, haha. But now it's done, and I'm quite pleased with myself.

I studied Design Concepts. I suppose I found Neumorphism, which caught my interest.
I'm on a mission to soak up knowledge like a sponge! The whole day I'm buzzing with ideas and no energy, but as soon as the sun sets, my brain flips a switch and I'm suddenly productive. But after short time, I'm too tired. It's a weird struggle, but I'm determined to find a balance!

This post is for Saturday.
I took a super lax day and uploaded an introduction for the flight attendant game. I was very down because I had a terrible day at work on Friday, so I didn't make it to the Emirates flight attendant talk I had signed up for last week. I hope it happens again sometime or I find a similar opportunity. Last night I went to play magic at my friends' place and we got back at 6 in the morning, which contributed to my poor performance on Saturday.
I know that a few days ago I talked about taking breaks and allowing myself to do nothing in the middle of productivity time, and while I think that rest is necessary, I am very afraid that this is how I start to abandon something again. So I am going to look for a way to organize myself better to be more consistent. Something that is methodical and I don't have to improvise every day.
My github reflects how I started my game design and study project with a lot of enthusiasm and I lost momentum more towards the end of the month. I want September to be more even day by day.

This post is for Sunday.
Today was my boyfriend's niece's birthday, his sister's daughter, it was a one-year-old birthday and we basically spent the whole day there. The only thing I could do because of my productivity streak was to reach day 30 of Duolingo.
I have some changes planned in my routine for tomorrow. September is going to be different.

---
This post is for Monday.
We already know that when we let my emotions and my will get in the way of my interests, it is the perfect formula to distance myself from my goals.
So I systematized my study and my creation of projects. I downloaded some organization sheets from bobbiprintables, with which I began to manage my study time.
This first month I let myself be carried away by my desire to do my projects and each day was marked by what I wanted to do at that moment. Well, it is time to put a little more order and discipline, because sometimes you have to do things you don't like too.
I started to feel a little stuck in my creation process and I know it is because I still lack the knowledge to put some ideas into practice, so I resumed studying and I intend to finish two courses. The Japanese one on udemy, and the basic programming one on platzi.
This Monday I also started going to the gym. I need more physical endurance to spend so many hours in front of the computer without damaging my spine.

Hi, Hello! It’s me, Izzy and I am back from a very long break!
For those who don’t know who I am and just saw my post, I’m Isabelle but Izzy for short (and even shorter, Izi)! I run a Codeblr blog which I post about anything coding! I try to strictly only talk about coding, programming and computer science, but frankly, I ramble on about something else eventually! Hope you’re doing well!
Now, I know I said I wouldn't come back, but that was because I suddenly became stuck on what to post about and wanted to give myself a break and figure out how to do things on my blog and my online presence in general!
So, in summary, I am back from my break very inspired and eager to help more people get into programming / get better at programming! I will go on to talk about exactly what I have been doing during my break later on in this post, but wanted to say thank you to everyone who messaged me throughout the months and saw how I was! Very thought and extra blessings from God to you, please!

Working at my new-but-not-so-new job!
Yes! So, obviously, as a 21st Century girlie, I am working! Still at the music company that I started back in January! Now that I am 8 months into the job, I feel now I am fully immersed in the job and the projects and not feeling like an outsider! I went on multiple out-the-office events with the whole company and it was nice! Some I couldn’t attend because of religious reasons, but I still had fun! I got to meet a lot more girlies at my office that I don’t usually talk to (because I’m still the only girl in the frontend engineering team but there is a backend girlie but we don’t work close together so… distance)! Cheatingly, I am always ticking the box of “code every day”! However, work has made me do more UI/UX designing + frontend programming websites which I love! Always wanted to be both and not just one or the other! We are allowed to have 2 job titles, remember? (But make sure the salary is in accordance, of course, ~)
Tumblr media
Learning new technologies! (for fun, obviously)
By “for fun” I mean personal reasons, the technologies I learnt on a whim were not for work but because I needed to learn them for personal projects I wanted to learn! I stress again; it’s more fun to learn something because you want to and not because you have to! So, I have been learning how to create desktop applications using ElectronJS and ReactJS (React has become my best friend!). Me now compared to me when I started my break is 10x smarter I feel like! My brain has definitely expanded somewhere…!
Tumblr media
Latest project?!
Inspired by study productivity apps and wanting to track my Korean language progress, I am making a desktop application called ‘eStudySpace’! It would be my own personal app, but I want to see if I can actually pull something like this off! Right now I have not coded anything because I want to work on the design aspect first (which is smarter and a time saver in the future), so I have been on Figma for the last 2 weeks coming up with designs!
Tumblr media
(It looks bad, I know this is like idea no.3287368 ugh...)
Tumblr media
Miscs
I have been learning Korean for 4 months now.
I have plans to move to a South-Eastern country, The Philippines? Singapore? Unsure!
I do have plans to switch to a new career but that’s more like 5 years into the future! But right now, I’m happy where I am at!

---
Today I have to work from home and this is what my desktop looks like with my personal computer and work computer at the same time. I know that you can take very aesthetic photos in this way but I find it highly unhealthy to have so little personal space to fit so many computers and monitors. In addition to being here with three screens for 9 hours or more. I think there is little talk in the studyblr or codeblr community about how unhealthy our work and study spaces can be and how unhealthy the home office in general is. With so much overstimulation, I feel Lain plugged in.

Mañana me toca trabajar en la oficina. No tengo ganas.

Tomorrow is office day and I don't want to.
I'm still doing this tedious part of too much text in the graphic novel, but as soon as I finish it, I'll start with animations and that's alot more fun.
I'm thinking about five characters already.

How to practice digital minimalism in our overwhelmingly technology focused world
Over the past couple of weeks i’ve found myself struggling to put my phone down, even in important situations or scenarios. For the upcoming months, I really want to challenge myself to limit screen time and stop mindless scrolling for hours. So for today’s post I really want to look at digital minimalism and explore how I can step away from the phone and step into the real world more often.
Introduction
In today’s world, we are surrounded by technology and digital devices that demand our attention 24/7. From smartphones to laptops, social media to streaming services, it’s easy to get lost in the digital clutter. This is where digital minimalism comes into play - it is a philosophy that encourages us to be mindful of our digital consumption and to use technology intentionally. In this blog post, I want to explore the art of digital minimalism and how it can help us lead a more intentional and fulfilling life.
The Benefits of Digital Minimalism
The term “minimalism” comes from the broader movement of minimalism, which is about simplifying one’s life by reducing the number of material possessions and focusing on what truly adds value and meaning to our lives. Digital minimalism applies these principles specifically to technology and digital tools.
Digital minimalism has numerous benefits, including better mental health, improved productivity, and increased focus. By reducing our screen time and limiting our exposure to digital distractions, we can improve our mental wellbeing and reduce stress. This is because constant exposure to social media and digital devices can lead to information overload and a feeling of being constantly “switched on”. Additionally, by reducing our digital consumption, we can free up time to pursue other hobbies and interests, leading to a more fulfilling life.
At its core, digital minimalism is about being more intentional and deliberate in how we use technology and digital devices in our daily lives.
Tips for Practicing Digital Minimalism
Practicing digital minimalism can seem daunting at first, but there are simple steps we can take to reduce our digital consumption. Firstly, we can delete social media apps from our phones and only check them on our computers. This will reduce the temptation to mindlessly scroll through our feeds and allow us to be more present in our daily lives. Secondly, we can turn off notifications for non-essential apps, such as gaming or shopping apps, which can help reduce distractions and increase productivity. Finally, we can set aside specific times of the day to check our emails and messages, rather than constantly checking them throughout the day.
The Importance of Balance
While digital minimalism can have numerous benefits, it’s important to remember that technology is not inherently bad. In fact, technology has transformed the way we live and work, making our lives easier and more convenient. The key is to find a balance between our digital and offline lives. By being mindful of our digital consumption and using technology intentionally, we can reap the benefits of digital minimalism without sacrificing the benefits of technology.
Conclusion
Digital minimalism is not about completely eliminating technology from our lives, but rather about being mindful of our digital consumption and using technology intentionally. By reducing our screen time and limiting our exposure to digital distractions, we can improve our mental wellbeing, increase productivity, and lead a more fulfilling life. So, the next time you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through social media, take a step back and ask yourself - is this really how I want to spend my time?
Looking to get into digital minimalism, here are 10 ways to practice digital minimalism:
Delete social media apps from your phone and only check them on your computer
Turn off notifications for non-essential apps
Set aside specific times of the day to check your emails and messages
Use a website blocker to limit your time on distracting websites
Unsubscribe from email newsletters and marketing emails that you don’t find useful
Use a physical calendar or planner instead of relying on digital ones
Practice mindfulness or meditation to reduce digital distractions and improve focus
Take regular breaks from technology and spend time outdoors or doing offline activities
Use technology for specific purposes, such as work or communication, rather than mindlessly browsing
Keep your digital devices out of the bedroom to promote better sleep hygiene.
