Rumor on Instagram has it that Three Lives Three Worlds The Pillow Book aka The Pillow Book aka  三生三世枕上书 will  be on aired next month, during the Lunar/Chinese New Year (that would be toward the end of January, as Lunar New Year falls on January 25th.) This is all rumors from Chinese netizens and, can, of course, change at any moment. (I mean, weren’t several dramas pulled in 2019, like, the day they were supposed to air?) But - I have been looking forward to this drama since 2017, so - excited. Hoping it is true.

Dong Hua continues to be utterly shameless. That's what I love about his character. With those that he is truly close with he's an absolute troll. Stinky fish? You bet. Disappearing mid conversation? More likely than you'd think.

People perceive him as some great ruler when he's just a really old guy who is done with everyone's problems. Especially when everyone expects him to fix them. He's childish and petulant and he doesn't like to share. He's forgotten what it's like to be young and feel and be amazed until he meets Feng Jiu who is bursting with life and emotion. Her attitude makes him more shameless. More childish. He's pulling on her hair because he doesn't even know that he likes her.

Only the brazen fox queen of Qing Qui could be Dong Hua's empress because she's the only one who would revel in his behaviour. She loves those sides of him that command respect but she also loves the sides that many others don't see and wouldn't expect. She is accepting of him but without expecting anything. She selflessly loves him and she always has. Even when she thought he would never love her. She never tried to put herself upon him. She's everything his true love should be. They just suffer from chronic misunderstandings. Which is about part of the course of a story that has to cover three lives.

The sass queen, Bai Qian, is my favourite. 

Of the three incarnations - Si Yin, Su Su, Bai Qian - Bai Qian is definitely my favourite. I hated seeing Su Su getting picked on so I’m all for the badass high goddess Bai Qian. Yang Mi plays this role so, so well. So talented and super gorgeous!

This drama is everything I’d hoped for and more! Ye Hua, Mo Yuan, Ali, Li Jing, Feng Jiu, Si Ming, Dong Hua Dijun, I love everyone and it ended yesterday so I’m avoiding the raw episodes (which I have been consuming ever since the drama premiered). Ah, I’m going to miss it so much.
