I Stand

I Defy

On My Hands

Yoga is an Afrikan

art form that moves

the frame and the picture

It’s a practice that is universal in its ethos

Black men have been moving the earth with stars in their eyes

and the wind as a tool

To stretch and breathe

To breathe and invert

To invert and rest in pose

They say black men are stiff, rigid and inflexible

Some of us believed this

by remaining breakable

A suit became armour

The kind that hid our agility

The lies we bought

The dawning of the age of Aquarius is here

We have long been movers and shakers

It’s time to return to the dance of the Universe

When we stand it’s not only on our feet

We create kingdoms on our hands too

My broad shoulders speak

My core holds the cosmos

My flexibility is legendary

I stand

I Defy

On My Hands

I lift life standing on air
