          The Doctor never did like the taste of blood.

          It's bitter and metallic and it coats his tongue, turns his stomach, makes him remember days he'd rather leave forgotten. Memories he'd buried long ago on purpose, memories of when he hadn't been a Doctor but rather a Soldier, an engine of War. People throughout time and space have the habit of calling him a good man, but a good man doesn't need rules.

          He has hundreds, and none of them do him any good in his current... situation.

          He and Rory had been exploring a pleasure planet when he'd encountered one of his enemies. Thankfully he'd sent Rory off to reserve a table at the most popular restaurant on the planet so when he'd been taken he'd insisted he were alone. They'd drugged him, bound him to a chair and interrogated him about his ship, his people, the War itself but he hadn't given in. Not even when they'd entered his mind to attempt to steal the information telepathically. He'd simply put up as many walls as possible, locking doors in his mind and doing everything he could in his intoxicated state to keep them well out.

          They hadn't taken it well and ever since they'd been torturing him endlessly, burning him, whipping him, beating him, attacking his senses, drugging him faster than his metabolism could rectify and treating telepathy as a formidable weapon which... wasn't unfamiliar territory. In truth, compared to what he'd had to endure at the hands of enemies in the past, and at the hands of his own people, he could handle this. Still... even his superior biology couldn't hold out forever in these conditions, considering he hasn't had a thing to eat or drink in what his probably-inaccurate-time-senses insist has been over a week.

          The sound of the metal door to his cell opening causes him to wince, his head bowed and his eyes heavily lidded from the intoxication.

          "Ah. Back again, I see. I've told you lot before, if you want to-" he pauses mid sentence, the scent of the person who entered the room finally reaching him. He'd know that scent anywhere. His head lifts and his eyes snap open, his face bruised, splattered with his own blood, his lip split and his eyes both swollen half shut from swelling.

          One thing about his intoxicated state- it prevented his regeneration energy from healing him. Whomever had taken him had come prepared.

          "Rory?... Rory, what- what're you doing here? No.. No, no, NO, you've got to run. Before they come back, please- if anything happened to you, I’d-...”

The Doctor, from the other room: Oh my god.

I think it's heavily implied that Kris self-harms, and I wondered what scars could turn into in the dark world. Got a little carried away with the colors on this one but i really like how it turned out :3

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
