ceridwen offered a slight smile of her own, though it was short-lived. she took the brief moment of silence to swap blu and zip around — they always argued about who was on which side, so she had to switch them up every few hours. she watched his hands as he signed, then signing back: < indeed, she will. she always does. > she nodded. out of the corner of her eye, the sea witch caught the sight of zip mouthing something to blu, and blu responded with a roll of his eyes; she rolled her own eyes at the sight. she gave a small smile. < you will be the first i tell if trouble occurs. > truthfully, she would probably keep any conflicts to herself. in an attempt to keep any trouble as lowkey as possible. at his question, she thought for a moment. < i suppose so, yes. it’s nothing special — blue beds and white walls. as much as i despised the isle, i have found that i had more privacy there. i had no roommate — well, other than the few other pirates who lived at the dock with me, but they were never all that bothersome. >
frank noticed zip and blu talking to each other, but couldn’t make out what they said. he figured it was a private conversation anyway. he gave ceridwen a sly smile. < are they talking about how handsome i am? > frank chuckled to himself. < i don’t think i’d mind a roommate. as long as they’re not rude. > he figured the main problem would be if his roommate could stand him. < if your roommate’s from the isle, then it should be fine. it’d be so awkward rooming with an HK. they probably put salt around their bed, to block off us demons. > he winked. < also gil says hi. >

dcphnc:
“you better be,” she grumbled, folding her arms, a sure sign that she wasn’t about to punch him any more. not for that particular offence, anyway. “please, no one around here is normal.” she gestured around the area they were in, towards the fairy manipulating water off to the side and the girl that kept changing colours while she yelled at some tourney players. she didn’t look frank in the face as she replied. “yeah, well, even so, there’s still… there’s still merit.. to what they’re saying.” she didn’t like admitting it, since it had come from her mother, but it was so ingrained that she couldn’t help but defend it.
frank’s gaze followed her gesture, taking in the sight of these strange people, but he just shrugged. “then i’ll be the first. the first normal person in auradon.” he could dream. “there’s only merit if you believe there is. personally, i’ve never been one for hokey magic, special powers, abilities, doing this and that, fortune-telling, three hundred push-ups, whatever...” frank waved his hand to and fro. “just focus on yourself. what do you want to do?” he asked, twirling a finger before pointing it at her dramatically, like a self-help speaker.

coranzc:
coranza scoffed, though a part of her couldn’t help but agree with him — she wasn’t about to admit as much, however. “please, i don’t need anyone. i’ve got other things to worry about. i don’t need a … girl, right now.
“...you do you, no problem with that, i’m just saying...a little warm comfort never hurt anyone, right?” he teased. frank crossed his arms over his chest, tilting his head at her like a curious dog. “or...is it that you’ve already got a girl in mind?”

“so handsome and dashing.” he closed his eyes. “frank, that was…not a good thing. what did you want me to do?” castor frowned at the ‘bud.’ it made him step back away from frank. “i don’t know… but still, you got your cake. please help me. don’t leave.”
frank’s nose twitched. “yeah, i don’t need a lesson on morals from a vampire prince. thanks,” he snorted. he arched an eyebrow when castor frowned at him, daring him to start something if he wanted. frank was completely at peace with his yogurt. “...nah, i won’t leave. i’m no monster,” he smirked. “tell me how you got here, though. appeal to my better nature.”

ceridwcn:
ceridwen blinked a bit at his words, then looking down at the souvlaki. she hesitated before taking another small bite, offering a slight smile as she, once again, held it out for him to take. she took the moment to swallow the bite, as if that would have disrupted zip and blu’s speech. < really? i haven’t seen mak yet. > she signed, then shrugged. the sea witch looked to blu, as if relaying the information to him ( blu could read sign language, just not as well as zip could ). < truthfully, i haven’t even met my roommate at all. i think they avoid me on purpose. > it’s not like she could blame them, though.
he raised his eyebrows a little, giving her silent permission aside from his verbal one. when he was satisfied that she’d eaten enough, frank took back the souvlaki with a proud smile. as he prepared to take another bite, unwrapping the foil lower, he quickly signed: < me too. but she’ll make herself seen soon enough. > he watched ceri interact with her eels for a while as he ate, popping a small bubble that floated his way. < if they cause trouble, tell me. we with the bad parents have to stick together. > he winked at the end of that. < is your room nice? nicer than back home? >

She slowly nodded her head as he spoke slowly. “It’s delicious. I’d suggest eating a whole chocolate bar first before getting one, though.” She giggled and tipped her head. “Thank you, Snack Smuggler.” She held her hand out to him. “Brutally Honest Princess. Nice to meet you.”
“Good idea. Should walk before I run,” he said, giving her a knowing smile. The smile became broader as she introduced herself, shaking his head in disbelief. “Brutally Honest Princess, huh? You a real princess or you just like the title?” Frank chuckled. “Real name’s Frank, by the way. Don’t know if I mentioned that before. Frank, Frankie...”

“it doesn’t work,” the dragon girl sing-songed, crinkling her nose and kicking her right leg into the air. she leaned up a bit to get closer to him, nodding when he repeated her question. “yes, you,” she confirmed. “hey, hey — don’t regret anything, ever.” she reached up to gently boop his nose.
“doesn’t work?” he repeated, in the same tune. “why doesn’t it work?” he was worried for a second that it might be broken or the girl was just some other species or being he had no idea how to deal with. frank’s eyebrows rose as she came closer. he leaned his head back before she could touch his face; frankie took her hand to grab her attention. “i won’t, i promise,” he agreed, rolling his eyes. “now, c’mon, we need to get you off the floor and somewhere safe.”

Marisol nodded her head and started to draw the structure that held the noose. “Do you want to go first or me?” She asked moving the paper closer to him.
Frank saw her do something on the paper, and that gave him her answer. He cracked a smile, nodding in response as he took up his pen and drew seven lines on the paper. “Guess.”

daphne punched his arms. “shut up, you’re so mean.” she knew he was joking, but she wasn’t about to go grey-haired before she was even an adult. “normal? since when were you a normal height? okay, sure, i might be slightly below average, but that’s nothing compared to how huge you are!” she said. when frank mentioned predators and prey, she froze, shoving her hands into her pockets so she could hide her balled fists. “the basics of predators and prey are the same everywhere. it doesn’t matter.”
he winced to pretend her punches actually hurt. “all right, all right, i’m sorry --” he laughed. “whoa, hey, i resent that. i am completely, hundred-per-cent normal. nothing unusual here.” frank noticed the visible change in daphne, but he’d anticipated it when he broached the topic of predators and prey. “...it matters. you should know by now, stuff like that’s not clear-cut, there’s always grey areas. if someone tells you its as easy as black-and-white, they’re selling something.”

justice squinted at the hand that the boy offered, but she didn’t take it. even in her drunken state, she was very much aware of her paralyzed left leg and how much it limited her movement. “i can’t get uppp —” she hummed, pointing to her leg. “i gottaaa stay down heeere.” she made a face. “i said … do youuu regret anything?” she hiccuped.
the first thing he noticed was her pointing to her leg and the obvious, almost whining tone to her voice. “why, what’s wrong with your leg?” he asked, furrowing his eyebrows. he crouched next to her to hear her better. “regret anything? me?” frank echoed, pointing at himself. “uh, not really. might regret stopping to check on you, though,” he added with a cheeky smile.

vera narrowed her eyes at him, but slipped her arm into his nonetheless. she patted their linked arms and tsked at the boy. “ that was completely uncalled for, but i forgive you because you’re pretty. ” she huffed. “ and it’s a good thing i do. here i am, trying to defend you, and you make fun of me. i was gonna say you deserved a welcome with open arms, but people who make short jokes do not. ”
she let out a long-suffering sigh. “ you’re so lucky you’re handsome. ” she said, before turning back to the person frank was talking to. “ see, i’m a little confused as to why they’re taking so long myself. i would assume that they wouldn’t want to annoy a couple vks. if i were them, i’d hurry up and get this nice boy here settled and out of my hair. ”
he wasn’t used to being so close to people, but he had to admit vera’s presence made him calmer. a familiar thing that reminded him of home. “ try not to objectify me too much, i do have feelings, you know, ” he sighed. “ and i’m sorry, i take back all my past and future short jokes. and in return, you can make tall jokes. how’s that ?? ” he smiled, like that would solve everything.
frank was ready to just keep up their banter and ignore everything he had to do with the office, but when vera spoke to the student, he was reminded of it all. he pressed his lips together a little, the agitation showing in his eyes, but he checked himself before anything else could show. the student, on the other hand, didn’t look fazed. they explained that maybe VKs weren’t that much of a threat anymore. “ wow, i guess i came at the wrong time. there i was, ready to use all my scary powers of handsomeness... ” then he turned back to vera, “ ...come on, i’ll just do it another time. ”

“right? i’ve been trying to mentally repress her dna within me so i can make sure i don’t look anything like her when i’m her age. i know i’m way more beautiful than her now, but ageing can be your worst enemy if you don’t know what you’re doing.” and now that she was in auradon, she could find beauty products that weren’t expired. joy. “no, she’s taller than me, but of course we’d all look like ants to frankie the giant,” she said, rolling her eyes. “i know, i know, but that just means there’s more people that outmatch me. i have to step up my game.” though all she could do was some self-taught martial arts. “i guess… and fine, fine, i’ll tell you.”
“i gotta tell you, kid, it’s not really working. i’m seeing some grey hairs there and wrinkles...” he teased, wiggling a finger in front of her face. frank barked with laughter. “a giant? who’s a giant?” he put his hands on his chest, feigning surprise. “you’re all munchkins, i’m the normal person here.” frank slid his hands off his chest, back to stuffing them in his pockets. “i know this is gonna be hard, but try not to compare yourself to people like that. predators and prey are different here,” he said, taking a moment to be serious. “it’ll be easier in the long run, trust me.”

Charity giggled softly. “A double chocolatey chip frappacino.” She said slowly and clearly. “It’s pretty much a frozen chocolate milk with chocolate chips mashed in it. If you like chocolate, I highly recommend it.” She grinned and happily took the bar. “Yes. I will happily take these. Thank you.”
“A double chocolatey chip...frappa...cino,” he echoed, still unsure. Frank broke out into a smile, shaking his head. “That’s a hell of a lot of chocolate. Don’t think I’ve ever had more than a square or two before. I’ll keep it in mind.” Once she took the bars, he put his hands on his hips, nodding in acknowledgment. “No problem. Call me the Snack Smuggler.”

justice made a face, waving a dismissive hand at the boy as she dropped down onto the floor. she’d thrown up practically half of the alcohol she had consumed, but that didn’t stop her from drinking more. holding the bottle up, she shook her head. “nothing, i tell you. i regret nothing.” she waved the bottle at the boy before sitting up a bit and taking a drink. “do you regret anything, stranger?” she slurred.
he honestly thought he was past having to take care of drunk people now that he was out of his father’s tavern. drunk people were harder to understand because of their slurring, but frank already had a practised dialogue. “ all right, come on, do you want some help getting up? or are you gonna stay on the floor all night?” he asked, offering a hand. he arched an eyebrow at what he assumed was a question. “what was that?”
