🧠✨ THEORY TIME: WHY
EVERY SINGLE ADULT FAILED
IN AMANDA THE ADVENTURER—AND WHY RILEY IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SUCCEED ✨🧠
a.k.a. why you should never send a grown-up to solve a child’s nightmare
So, let’s talk about something that’s been SCREAMING at me from every angle of Amanda the Adventurer:
Every. Single. Adult. Fails.
Kate?
Joanne?
The investigators?
Dead. Missing. Broken. Betrayed. Torn apart.
Meanwhile, a possible child is crawling through sewers, navigating corrupted tapes, and slowly becoming the emotional anchor of this entire cursed universe.
Let’s unpack it.
🔹THE CORE OF THE GAME ISN’T “MYSTERY.” IT’S
TRAUMA.
The Amanda tapes are not puzzles to solve.
They’re experiences. Pain. Memory. Emotional language.
They are fragments of suffering presented through a child’s lens.
So when adults try to approach them with:
“We need to archive and study these”
“Let’s follow the evidence and figure out what Hameln did”
“Let’s document the symbols and clues”
They’ve already lost.
Because you can’t solve grief.
You can’t decode trauma.
You can only feel it.
🔹WHY THE ADULTS FAILED (INDIVIDUALLY BROKEN DOWN):
🧷 Joanne:
Motivated by her brother.
Willing to believe Hameln lies.
Prioritized personal pain over collective justice.
Joanne is so wrapped in grief and rage that she becomes the monster she fears, literally manipulating Riley for a chance at revenge.
She uses adult rationalization:
“The ends justify the means. If I do this one bad thing, I can fix everything.”
Sound familiar? That’s a classic adult fallacy. And it costs her everything.
📚 Kate:
The most loving and driven of the adults.
But still—stuck in the logic trap.
She tries to use:
Research
Archive digging
Librarian knowledge
She brings a book to a nightmare.
She’s intelligent, but she treats the tapes like a case file, not the emotional minefield they are.
And when it blows up? She blames herself. Because deep down, she knew:
This wasn’t something you could “figure out.”
🔬 The Investigators:
Caroline. Peter. David.
All brought tools, strategies, ideas…
And all of them underestimated what they were walking into.
Why?
Because they thought evil would make sense.
They thought there’d be a logical reason behind the terror.
But Amanda’s world isn’t logical.
It’s grief manifesting through corrupted media, childlike innocence twisted into screams.
🔸 RILEY IS DIFFERENT
She doesn’t analyze the tapes.
She doesn’t overthink.
She feels her way through it.
She:
Plays
Chooses wrong answers
Annoys Amanda on purpose
Experiments like a kid would
Engages emotionally instead of logically
And that’s her secret weapon.
She’s not trying to “solve” Amanda.
She’s connecting with her.
And THAT is the entire point.
🔸 THE TAPES ARE MADE FOR CHILDREN. SO ONLY A CHILD CAN TRULY UNDERSTAND THEM.
All of this was made to trap, twist, and torment kids.
And while adults can empathize…
they will never understand what it’s like to be powerless.
Riley does.
She’s been ignored.
She’s been abandoned.
She’s watched adults fall apart.
She’s been used.
She knows what Amanda and the others went through.
That’s why she doesn’t need logic.
She has the heart. The intuition. The innocence that hasn’t been buried under years of adult coping and denial.
🧸 CONCLUSION:
Amanda doesn’t need someone to decode her.
She needs someone who can say:
“I know how you feel. I’m hurting too.”
And that’s Riley.
The one everyone overlooked.
She’ll succeed because she’s not trying to win.
She’s trying to connect.
And that’s what nobody else could do.

NAH NAH CAUSE HERE ME OUT
I HAVE A THEORY
Ok so my theory is that…..
Riley is going to SNAP in the last game..
NO CAUSE ACTUALLY THINK ABOUT IT THINK ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THE GAMES THAT WERE LEADING TO THIS MOMENT!
She gets killed over and over and over again by the Amanda monster, and it’s proven that she remembers moments before she died because sometimes she has to die in order to get or solve things, SO SHE LITERALLY HAS MEMORY OF HER DEATH AND HOW PAINFUL IT FELT!
Like imagine remembering how the bite of 83 felt over and over again, that’s basically what she’s going through
She was manipulated by Joanne and forced to do ALLL of the work, I feel like I don’t even need to go in depth of this
Her Aunt died, seeing how emotional Kate was when trying to protect her niece implies that her and Riley were VERY close and Kate wasn’t a distant relative.
So Kate, her closest family member to her dying? Yep she’s already cracking
she literally witnessed or heard Joanne getting ripped apart piece by piece no explanation
AND ALSO
The next game takes place in a sewer,
Sewers in horror symbolize:
Buried trauma
Rotten secrets
Corruption beneath the surface
A descent into madness
I feel like that explains enough 💀
so ya, Riley bout to crash out, and if she does imma be rooting for her idc what anyone says 🤷🏽‍♀️

Ok sooo!
SPOLIERS FOR THE DEMO OF ATA3
SECOND WARNING!
……
So I have a theory,
At the end of the demo we hear a gunshot load behind the guy, but we don’t necessarily hear the gunshot to confirm that the guy is dead, now he probably is, but all we hear is an elevator ding, so maybe there is a possibility that he escaped.
or Riley is truly alone and by herself 😭

Sooo…..Yeah
Ok, I have a personal theory that I have been having for a while, BUT I not gonna reveal my theory until it is 100% confirmed by the devs.
Now you’re probably wondering, “why not just say it now?” Well if I do yall bout to call me crazy so imma just wait until it’s 100% confirmed that the theory is true.
for hint purposes, the theory has to do with Riley
that’s all I’m bout to say
peace ✌🏾

“Look, just investigate while I sit outside and smoke a cigarette- I I MEAN LOOK FOR COPS!”
LEFT RILEY IN A LIBRARY WITH HAUNTED TAPES NO ADULT SUPERVISION
AND DROVE OFF!

NO CAUSE HERE ARE ALL THIS WOMANS CRIMES:
The Official Crime List of Joanne
Aka “The United States vs. Joanne”
🔑
1. Breaking and Entering (Kate’s House)
She somehow got into Kate’s house without permission.
Theory: She either broke a window or stole the keys.
Entered a deceased woman’s home illegally.
Charge: Breaking and entering, trespassing, unlawful entry.
Sentence: 3 years and a restraining order from all attics.
🧒
2. Kidnapping a Minor (Riley)
Took Riley without consent, without telling a guardian (and uh… Kate is DEAD).
Lured her into a car under false pretenses.
Did not inform authorities or relatives.
Riley is a Minor (Heavily Implied)
Charge: Kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child.
Sentence: Life in prison if convicted in Texas 💀
🚗
🔓
4. Breaking into the Public Library
Broke into a locked public building at night.
With a child.
Probably used stolen keys (Kate’s library access).
No alarm system? We don’t ask questions.
Charge: Burglary, illegal entry, destruction of property.
Sentence: 5 years, and community service shelving books for eternity.
📼
5. Exposing a Minor to Demonic Possession
Left Riley with haunted, cursed VHS tapes.
Gave her zero context, no warnings, just “Hey sweetie have fun with this demonic cartoon :)”
No adult supervision. Just gave her a walkie talkie and dipped.
Charge: Reckless endangerment of a minor, exposure to harmful material, spiritual negligence.
Sentence: Exorcism followed by jail time.
🔥
6. Arson (Alleged)
Kate’s house mysteriously burned down.
Joanne was coincidentally not present.
Likely framed it as an “accident.”
Sus behavior: had motive, opportunity, and zero alibi.
Charge: First-degree arson (if proven), destruction of property, covering up evidence.
Sentence: 25 years, plus Kate haunting her forever.
📻
7. Gaslighting a Literal Child
Told Riley: “It was just an accident”
🧍‍♀️ Meanwhile, she lit the house with the flames of betrayal (Theory)
Constantly lies to Riley about what’s happening, uses her for her own investigation.
Doesn’t explain anything about Amanda, the tapes, or the stakes.
Charge: Emotional manipulation, psychological abuse, felony gaslightage.
Sentence: Therapy. Forever. And public shaming.
🚬
8. Negligent Supervision
Leaves Riley alone in the haunted library
Goes outside to smoke while Riley is being traumatized
Probably eavesdropping for plot purposes, but from Riley’s perspective?
“Where tf is the adult??” 😭
Charge: Abandonment of a minor, criminal irresponsibility.
Sentence: Parenting rights revoked. Forever.
🎭
9. Wearing a Mask in Highly Unsafe Situations
Wore her creepy mask while driving, investigating, and probably showering.
Unnecessarily ominous.
Scared Riley more than the haunted tapes.
Charge: Dramatic behavior in the first degree.
Sentence: Court-mandated face reveal.
🧾 Final Tally:
Breaking & Entering
Kidnapping
Reckless Driving / Child Endangerment
Burglary
Exposure to Cursed Media
Arson (Alleged)
Gaslighting
Negligent Supervision
Excessive Mask Use

Ok, i feel like this needs to stop
No cause why am I seeing people want Riley to die!?!? no cause I really don’t get it?? Which side are we on???
Hamlen or Riley????
cause honestly I can’t even tell???
Why am I seeing some people say they want Riley to get shred to death by the Wooly/amanda monster????
Tf did Riley do????😭
like are we forgetting who’s ALSO a victim???
it’s not just amanda
it’s not just the possum
it’s not just kate
it’s not just Joanne
DING DING DING!! YOU GUESSED IT!
ITS RILEY!!
She never wanted to be apart of this
It’s literally in the first game!
Tumblr media
SHE LITERALLY JUST WANTED TO VIST HER AUNT FOR THE SUMMER!!!
oh y’know LIKE A NORMAL. KID
And yet people treat her as if she’s some secret Mafia boss agent working for hameln???
SHES A KID (heavily implied)
SHE IS JUST AS MUCH AS A VICTIM AS AMANDA AND THE REST OF THE OTHERS!!!!
She never asked for this!?!?
she didn’t WANT to deal with a haunted Dora the explorer
but here She is!
solving a damn mystery that even a group of PROFESSIONALS couldn’t solve!?!?
”She’s so dumb for following Joanne” UM!?!? HELLO!?!?
SHE WAS MANIPULATED!!!
Joanne literally purposely used Riley’s grief of her aunt to take advantage of her
AND ADMITS TO DOING SO IN THE CANON ENDING
She exploited a child
she abused her emotionally (look at my pinned post I expand on that more)
And she had the audacity to use her brother being missing as an excuse!?!?
LIKE ARE WE IGNORING THE SIGNS!?!
Riley is an emotionally wounded, exploited, abused, child who just wanted to see her aunt for the summer!
she probably wanted to tell her aunt all the fun things she did during the last days of school
WHAT SHE DIDN’T EXPECT WAS TO BE DRAGGED IN A SITUATION THAT KILLED A WHOLE GROUP OF PROFESSIONAL INVESTIGATORS!!!
like I shouldn’t even have to explain this???
but the fact that I see people treat this girl like this is insane
“Her getting mauled by the wooly/Amanda monster would be interesting”
SHE LITERALLY JUST WITNESSED HER FAMILY FRIEND (Joanne) GET MAULED RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER RIGHT AFTER LISTENING TO HOW HER BELOVED AUNT DIED BY A CASSETTE TAPE!!?!?
Like why would you want her to suffer more!?!?
NO LIKE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY!?!
let me remind you
S. H. E. I. S. I. N. N. O. C. E. N. T
SHE DID NOTHING WRONG!?!!?
We should be rooting for Riley!
we should be on HER side
WHAT WE SHOULDNT BE DOING IS PIN AMANDA AND THE VICTIMS AGAINST EACH OTHER!!!!
you know why??
BECAUSE THEY ARE ALLL VICTIMS!!
YES ALL OF THEM INCLUDING RILEY
“She’s brought this on herself, she keeps clicking the wrong answers and ticking Amanda off”
have you ever considered..
THAT WHAT SHES DOING IS WHAT NORMAL KIDS DO TO TEST LIMITS AND BOUNDARIES!?!?
LIKE ITS NORMAL CHILD DEVELOPMENT FOR THEM TO CLICK WRONG ANSWERS ON PURPOSE TO SEE HOW FAR THEY COULD GO!!!
ITS WHAT KIDS DOOO!!!!
ITS NORMAL!!!
I mean don’t kids usually test boundaries of parents and say wrong things on purpose to get their reaction!??
And also isn’t this a kid show!?!
isn’t this literally off brand Dora the explorer?!??
What if canonically she isn’t clicking the wrong answers on purpose??!
what if she GENUINELY doesn’t know the answer!?!
LIKE A YOUNG KID WOULD!?!?
No cause, why am I seeing JOANNE between Riley getting the most empathy!?
SHE LITERALLY ADMITTED TO:
Deliberately ignoring her former best friend’s death wish to protect her niece
Using and manipulating a minor’s grief
And yet somehow, SHES THE VICTIM!?!
Oh of course she is! Ignore the kid that wanted to visit her aunt for the summer only to find out that she has been lied, manipulated, used, abused emotionally and exploited all for the sake of this woman’s brother, her pain doesn’t compare to hers! Because she wasn’t the first to experience the pain!!! silly me!!
Like!?! what sense does that make!?!
I rarely see anybody and I mean ANYBODY give Riley even an OUNCE of sympathy like they give Amanda, wooly (the character with no background) the possum,
HECK EVEN THE UNDERRATED CHARACTERS LIKE KATE AND SAM GET MORE ATTENTION THAN RILEY HERSELF (AU btw)
And no! Dont say “it’s because she doesn’t talk”
just because she’s silent doesn’t mean she isn’t hurting
just because she doesn’t speak doesn’t mean she’s not enduring pain
Riley doesn’t need words to express her feelings, her actions speak louder than words (I also talk about that in my pinned comment)
you don’t always need a character to talk to understand what they are going through
sometimes the people with the most pain are the ones that are silent
because they’re too scared to speak up and defend themselves
and that…..that Is Riley

📼 THE UNLABELED TAPE THEORY: Riley as a Shifter and the Reality-Bending Nature of the Tapes
An in-depth theory based on the Amanda the Adventurer series, with a focus on continuity, game mechanics, and narrative logic.
INTRODUCTION
This theory explores the possibility that Riley, the playable character in Amanda the Adventurer, started off as an ordinary child, but became someone with the ability to alter timelines or manifest events based on memory and emotion—similar to the concept of “shifting” from the Zero Escape series, possibly a gift/or ability given by Amanda herself due to they’re connection.
The core evidence lies in the events surrounding the unlabeled tape in Amanda the Adventurer 2 and the return of a destroyed TV in the ATA3 trailer. This theory will walk through the evidence and interpret how it could be setting up Riley as a “shifter” in the upcoming third game.
SECTION 1: THE UNLABELED TAPE
➤ The setup:
In Amanda the Adventurer 2, during the true ending route, right before Joanne is attacked yells:
“Riley, GET out of here!”
Immediately afterward, the box of tapes she’s holding falls. All of the tapes inside are clearly labeled by Hameln—each one part of a controlled archive.
However, an unlabeled tape appears on a desk nearby, outside the box, which Riley picks up.
➤ Why this is unusual:
Every tape in the game is either stored in drawers, puzzles or cabinets, and all are labeled.
This one has no label and appears after a key emotional trigger (Joanne’s warning).
There is no explanation for its origin in-game—it just falls out of Joanne’s box but never appears in the gameplay.
➤ Interpretation:
This could be the moment Riley unknowingly creates or summons a tape. Not through game logic or puzzle-solving, but through some deeper connection to the tapes themselves—likely tied to emotional or traumatic resonance.
SECTION 2: THE TV IN THE SEWERS
In the Amanda the Adventurer 3 trailer, Riley is seen walking through a sewer environment, where she finds a TV playing the exact line from Joanne:
“Riley, GET out of here!”
➤ Why this is strange:
This TV is visually identical to the one in Kate’s attic from ATA1.
In the canon ending of ATA1, Riley smashes that TV with a brick, and in ATA2 Kate’s house is burned down.
The TV should not exist anymore, yet here it is—functioning, and playing a memory from Riley’s past.
➤ Possible explanation:
This implies the TV is not a physical object, but rather a projection or manifestation—possibly created by Riley’s subconscious or as a side-effect of her interactions with the tapes.
SECTION 3: SHIFTER PARALLEL
In the Zero Escape series, a “Shifter” is someone who can:
Retain memories between deaths or alternate timelines.
Shift into different versions of reality.
Sometimes cause nonlinear events due to memory resonance.
If Riley shares these traits, she may be:
Retaining knowledge across failed loops (deaths or restarts).
Interacting with tapes no one else can see (like the secret ones).
Unintentionally altering events, creating new tapes, or restoring destroyed objects.
This could explain:
The unlabeled tape (created by emotional memory).
The reappearance of the TV (reconstructed from memory).
Her ability to interact with tapes and events Joanne doesn’t acknowledge.
SECTION 4: IMPLICATIONS FOR ATA3
If Riley is indeed a shifter or has a unique connection to the tapes, the third game could explore:
Riley becoming aware of her ability to manipulate or navigate timelines.
Gameplay involving shifting between multiple versions of the same location or scenario.
The possibility of rewriting events (e.g., saving Amanda or Rebecca, preventing deaths, altering history).
This theory positions Riley not just as a passive player, but as a catalyst for change within the corrupted VHS world—possibly the first person to ever actively affect it rather than be consumed by it.
CONCLUSION
The appearance of the unlabeled tape and the reconstructed TV are not just strange details—they suggest that Riley’s presence is changing the rules of the VHS universe. Unlike Amanda or Rebecca, who were trapped by external forces, Riley may have the ability to reshape the world from within, powered by memory, emotion, and trauma.
Her journey in Amanda the Adventurer 3 may be less about escape, and more about understanding what she is—and what she’s capable of doing to the broken system she’s trapped in.
But hey that’s just a theory…
Yeah you thought I was about to say it lol

Bro tell me I’m not the only one who hears this!!! 😭
So I Slowed down the scream from the ending of the ATA 3 trailer, and I saw some people theorizing that Amanda is saying “RILEY STOP” and I personally couldn’t hear it, it sounded like Amanda was saying more words than just “RILEY STOP” so I slowed the audio down and yall…
if this is true, there are two people calling out for Riley, you could hear the second person faintly in the background before Amanda speaks, if this is the case…
YA’LL WHAT DID MY GIRL (AU) RILEY DO!?! OR WHAT WAS SHE ABOUT TO DO!?!? 😭😭

So I just looked up what that phrase “A secret can tear a life into two” and yall….
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You wanna hear my theory? I don’t think this line is referring to Rebecca and the Amanda monster.
I think it’s referring to Joanne and Riley..
I feel like people don’t go into depth enough of how much emotional abuse and manipulation Joanne subjected Riley into, and how messed up Joanne’s intentions are just to sugarcoat it because “Joanne lost her brother/family”
First, What Is Emotional Abuse?
Emotional abuse is a pattern of behavior that seeks to control, belittle, manipulate, or harm someone emotionally. With children, it's especially dangerous — because they lack the experience to recognize it, set boundaries, or fight back.
Joanne’s actions, even if they were “for a greater good” in her mind, consistently:
Betray Riley’s trust.
Place her in danger.
Force her into traumatic situations.
Use deception and affection to keep her compliant.
Gaslighting and Deception
Joanne lies to Riley repeatedly:
She repeatedly talks about Riley’s aunt during her introduction, framing the situation as if continuing what her aunt started is what Kate would have wanted despite knowing is not true, therefore manipulating Riley’s grief to draw her closer.
She pretends to be on Riley’s side, while hiding her true motives.
“We didn’t know. Kate didn’t know.” This line from the canon ending is her deflecting blame — using grief as a shield instead of accountability.
That’s textbook gaslighting. Joanne tries to shape the narrative so Riley doubts the reality of what happened, especially Kate’s death.
Weaponizing Grief and Trust
Joanne knows Riley:
Loved Kate.
Is grieving.
Will respond to emotional vulnerability and family loyalty.
She uses that to her advantage:
Talking kindly over the walkie-talkie.
Encouraging Riley to keep exploring — even as the tapes grow darker and more dangerous.
Avoiding full disclosure at every step until Riley pieces it together herself.
That’s manipulation: using kindness and affection not out of care, but to control.
Exposing a Child (Theory) to Trauma for Her Own Goals
Joanne knowingly sends a (theory) child into:
A library with haunted, reality-warping VHS tapes.
Dangerous, psychologically disturbing content.
Possible possession, spiritual corruption, or worse.
And why? To save her own brother. She doesn’t ask Riley. She uses her.
That’s not just selfish. That’s exploitation of a vulnerable grieving child for personal gain.
Denial and Deflection of Responsibility
In the canon ending, when Riley listens to Kate’s final tape, Joanne shows some remorse, but it's:
Too little, too late.
Only triggered after Riley does all the work.
Still centered around Joanne’s feelings, not Riley’s trauma. (THIS POINT IS WHAT GOT ME, she’s always talking about her own pain and trauma while not acknowledging Riley’s, literally the one who’s being used/manipulated is not getting acknowledged here)
Instead of apologizing genuinely, Joanne positions herself as a victim of circumstances:
“All I wanted was to get Jordan back” “All I wanted was to find him”
This tactic minimizes her role in Riley’s suffering — a subtle form of emotional manipulation to dodge true guilt.
Failing to Protect Riley — and Calling It Help
Joanne claims to be helping. But real help would have meant:
Keeping Riley away from the tapes.
Honoring Kate’s warnings.
Seeking a safe solution — not one that involves a child doing the dangerous work.
By making Riley do everything and bearing none of the risk herself, Joanne:
Puts the emotional burden on Riley.
Leaves her to process horrors alone.
Trains Riley to associate love with pain and secrecy.
This can have deep long-term effects on a child’s ability to trust others or themselves.
Because of Joanne’s emotional abuse, Riley may:
Struggle with trust.
Feel betrayed and used.
Internalize guilt and confusion.
Associate love with manipulation.
Blame herself for not seeing through it sooner.
Like I feel like people don’t really go into DEPTH of how much trauma, emotional abuse, exploitation, manipulation and subtle gaslighting Riley has been subjected to, the message is SUBTLE but it’s still there, you just have to look deep into it.
And it really fits the theme of Amanda the Adventurer where this story is all about child exploitation and manipulation of the innocent.
The line “A secret can tear a life into two” can refer to…
Riley: A Childhood Torn in Two
🧃 Before knowing the secret:
Riley is a trusting, curious kid visiting her late Aunt Kate’s home.
Joanne speaks to her kindly, guiding her through the house via walkie-talkie.
Riley believes she's helping, that this is a way to connect to her aunt's memory, and maybe bring closure.
After discovering the truth:
Riley finds out the truth about Kate’s death (That Joanne most likely wouldn’t have revealed if Riley never stumbled upon the cassette tape)
Joanne used her grief and trust to manipulate her into handling the tapes.
Riley’s safety and security was not in Joanne’s interest as much as Riley thought it was
That moment of realization splits Riley’s sense of safety, innocence, and trust in half.
She now sees the world — and Joanne — in a completely different light.
That’s what the line refers to: a child’s entire worldview shattered by betrayal and loss.
not only is this emotional abuse, But it’s also Child abuse, whether intentional or not.
(Also I just wanted to add something, The fact that Riley waited for Joanne to say “I promise” in order for her to leave says a lot about who she is, Remember Riley is a silent protagonist so her actions HAVE to speak louder than words, but it’s that one subtle detail that just makes Joanne’s manipulation of her so…..disheartening, Even after Joanne just admitted to using her, for her own advantage, for her own goals, not because she genuinely cared for Riley, but because she was selfish, even after Riley’s worldview of trust has shattered, Even after her innocence has been lost, She STILL wanted to make sure Joanne was ok, she STILL had trust in her, She STILL Believed there was good in her (not saying there isn’t) She still had loyalty, even though Joanne exploited it, THAT says a lot about her, she was still kind-hearted to even those who betrayed her, and that’s honestly incredibly sad)
(And it also is incredibly sad when you realize that in that moment Joanne’s manipulation and gaslighting worked, Joanne successfully framed herself as the victim of circumstance to gain Riley’s trust back, cause think about it, Joanne knew that after admitting to using Riley, Riley most likely was not gonna trust her again, cause why would she? So that’s why she kept talking about her sob story of her loosing her brother to gain that trust back, to gain her tool back, THAT is why Riley hesitated, She felt sorry for Joanne, she saw Joanne as the victim in this situation (which she isn’t) who only caused harm to her because she was harmed first, That is a classic Tatic Abusers use to justify the pain they cause on others because the pain was inflicted on them first, it’s unnerving)
At least this is my theory of it, and if you take a look at my past post that talks about the tv in the sewers in the final game trailer and how the first thing we hear from the tv is Joanne’s voice, I think the 3rd game is also gonna center around Riley’s trauma and the effect of the Emotional Damage and Abuse and sense of Betrayal that she has experienced in the second game.
I believe that they (game devs) added this for a reason I feel like this is going to make Riley’s connection with Amanda/Rebecca stronger because:
both were used by an adult/adults they thought they could trust
Both were manipulated and betrayed
Both Had a loss of innocence because of this
But I feel like Riley despite going through all that trauma, still has the will and courage that most of the others couldn’t have, and that same inner strength is what’s gonna help Amanda/Rebecca heal from her own trauma and wounds and help her feel something she hasn’t felt in a very long while.
A connection with someone who actually understands her pain
it’s not “Hero helps monster” it’s “Wounded child meets another who was broken first”
and that type of bond is powerful.

Guys….i think i might have an answer for this, and it’s not so good.
My number one conclusion was that this phase is referring to Rebecca and the Amanda monster, and how the only way to free her soul is to separate them.
but then I thought about it…
and then I came up with something, and it’s not a positive idea….
Notice how the phrasing isn’t “The secret is to tear a life into two” Which could work with the Rebecca/monster theory, but instead it’s “A secret can tear a life into two” Meaning that, that secret specifically is powerful enough to tear a life into two.
The word “Tear” already has a negative connotation to it, Tear means to “rip apart” and then “A life into two” Two what?? You could assume “Two Lives” but it doesn’t specify, it could also mean “Two pieces” or “Two halves” and if so that line itself could be a metaphor for “a broken heart”
Basically the phrase itself could be seen as “A secret could be so big/hurtful that it could break someone’s heart”
But then here’s the last question….What secret??? And why is it so big that it causes a heartbreak??
But yeah that’s my theory.

So…..yah
Ngl, when we gain Amanda’s trust back, everyone is talking about “oh I can’t wait to see Amanda and wooly being a toxic duo” or “omg I can’t wait to see the possum” and I would love that as well, but tbh I wanna see more of the R&R duo (Amanda/Rebecca and Riley) maybe make them team up to defeat Hameln in they’re own ways, Amanda would help in the technology side and maybe have some influence on the real world (we know Amanda could have influence in the real world when she makes objects spawn out of nowhere, she could be capable of so much but is just too afraid of Hameln to use any of it) and Riley should help in the real world like collecting all the information and tapes and stuff, or help kill the wooly monster/monsters.
But yeah, seeing how much Amanda liked Riley even before the “lost of trust” I think it’s mostly possible that she’d be more of an ally in the third game, especially with the fact that she cared enough to remember Riley’s name, and seemed so protective over the skates in the “We can fix it” tape which we know is a reference to Riley’s skates in the first game, is that a metaphor?? Idk but it’s something worth pointing out, I personally think we remind her a lot of Kate and that’s why she feels so comfortable with us.
Nah, imagine if they are still some people alive in the facility (maybe guards or something) and Both Riley and Amanda/Rebecca find the guy who is indirectly responsible for Kate’s car accident (I know I already talked about what Riley would have done, but imagine the BOTH of them) It would have been gg for them lmao

A Distant Memory (ATA fanfic)
It was a distant memory…
A memory Riley would never forget..
A memory that became a dream…
She was a baby, barley 2, and she was alone in a dark room, crying.
Riley never liked being alone when she was a baby, especially in the dark, it would always make her be aware of the unknown, what if something would happen? What if someone would take me?
Then Riley heard someone open the door,
It was her Aunt
Kate approached the crying toddler and gently picked her up, “What’s wrong My dear?” She would say, Riley continued to cry, Kate gently hushed her while rocking her slightly in her arms, Riley cried until she heard a melody her aunt was humming, a melody that she’s heard her parents use on her before, in that moment, her fears washed away, she felt safe and protected, she felt warm and calm, her mind became clear, and her eyes began to close, the last thing she recalled was the feeling of the covers being gently put on her, and she fell asleep.
Riley wook up on the carpet, and realized she was still in the library, she was still in the present, and her aunt was forever gone.

Bro…
imagine when we gain Amanda’s trust back, we also have the Amanda monster on our side as well?? Like imagine the final fight with the wooly monster and we’re just riding the Amanda monster (Ik the thing is too skinny but who says logic applies here) with a weapon.
OR
imagine Riley meeting the guy who was indirectly responsible for Kate’s death or got Kate killed in a car accident, and just…..do I even need to explain what she’d do
ok let me shut up

How I think ATA 3 is going to end
The main problem within the series was always the kids going missing, Lots of children were lured into the tapes, The tapes were implied to have a hypnosis effect on the kids and therefore lets Amanda have control over them, Riley is experiencing the same thing.
as seen in the first game when Lauren is hooked by an episode and in Joanne's note when she talks about her brother watching the show obsessively and becoming unresponsive. The tapes put Riley into a lower-scale version of the trance, making them focus only on the tapes, obey Amanda, and not respond to outside stimuli. During bits that would realistically make Riley react in shock or fear, such as the initial corrupted version of 'We Can Fix It' and seeing the monster directly behind them and about to attack, Riley is completely subdued and does not seem to react. When Joanne calls them on the walkie-talkie and tells them Kate's house is on fire, Riley's only response is to calmly select another tape. To get the Golden Ending in the first game, you need to help Amanda when she is trying to slice Wooly's head open - maybe she hypnotized Riley into helping. Riley's perception and mind are dulled in their trance state.
Although unlike the children mentioned, Amanda might not have total control over Riley - Riley can still deviate from the path and do things Amanda has not told them to do, and messing around with things in the outside setting, watching the secret tapes, and of course breaking the TV and running from the entity is key to achieving the true endings in both games, but Amanda can't completely control Riley and what they do.
I feel like this is what’s going to make Riley different from the other kids, The others were COMPLETELY subdued because they’ve been watching the tapes for a long time, But Riley hasn’t been watching them for a while, Riley can still take her attention off of the screen, Riley could still make decisions that Amanda doesn’t want her to, Riley could still disobey her.
Riley’s name Means “courage” and “Bravery” I feel like THIS Is going to be Riley’s strength, This is going to be Riley’s greatest power that most of the other characters didn’t have (or couldn’t do) Riley is able to disobey Amanda’s wants because of this, because she is courageous, and has a mind of her own, THAT is what’s gonna bring Hameln down (hopefully) And that Same personal power is what’s gonna let Riley be able to Change Amanda, and help her learn from her mistakes, even if Amanda is broken, there is still some Rebecca in her that’s trying to heal and be saved, And Riley is gonna be the key to that.
Similar to Coraline and How the dead kids fell victim to the Beldam because they were tempted by a fake fantasy, the only Reason Coraline didn’t fall victim is because she had the courage and the strength/ability that the other kids didn’t.
I feel Like Riley is just like Coraline in this situation, The Reason she’s not able to be completely subdued by the tapes like the other kids is because of her ability to determine right from wrong, and her desire to stop the wrongs to make things right (definitely got that from her aunt)
I don’t think they grabbed a bunch of Gender neutral names and put them on a spinning wheel and the name Riley so happened to be the one it landed on, No I think they picked THAT name specifically for a reason.
In Amanda’s story in the “When your feeling bad” Tape, Notice how the Knight is always referred to as “They” while typically in fantasy stories, the knight’s pronouns are always “he/him” I feel like the knight in that story is supposed represent Riley, (besides the whole killing Amanda monster/rebecca thing)
I feel like that further adds to my theory of what Riley is supposed to represent, Riley in Amanda’s story is a Knight, a person that symbolizes bravery, honor, and loyalty, a warrior, They are often associated with the ideals of protecting the weak, upholding justice, and fighting for what is right. In a more modern context, the knight can also represent ambition, determination, and quick-thinking.
They definitely did not do this for no reason.
Also I theorize that Amanda’s story is a foreshadowing of ONE of the endings of ATA3, since they would already have planned for ATA3 to be the last, I don’t think it foreshadows the canon ending of this franchise, I feel like that would be too much of a giveaway, if my theory is true, than that would mean Riley would be given a weapon to kill the Amanda monster, if she’s given a weapon in one of the endings then I guess it’s safe to say that she could possibly have a weapon while killing the Wooly monster, it might not be a sword tho, that could just be apart of the fantasy story, it might be an axe, hammer, crowbar, knife or something, or it might actually be a sword? Who knows?
I hope the third game taps into Riley’s character and the meaning behind her (AU) name and why they chose that name for her specifically, cause i feel like the 1st and 2nd game didn’t really demonstrate Riley’s bravery and determination, i feel like since the 3rd game is the last one, the need to create space to demonstrate that.

Bro I just thought of something….
in Riley’s note she talks about her dad right? I’m assuming her dad was the one who dropped her off at her aunts house, so Riley has been investigating for literal days and has not contacted her dad/parents AT ALL since then, like does she not have a phone with her?? Imagine how freaking panicked her parents must have been.
And not to mention they probably have been watching the news and saw how Kate’s house had been burned to the ground, I’m pretty sure her parents are beyond crazy worried right now lol
