Eerie Afternoon

Seohyun was woken up by a strange coldness crawling within her body. She wiped the cold sweat and tried to grab the glass of water sitting next to her bed. Her heart was beating uncontrollably and the coldness was still inside her. It was Seohyun’s first day in the Institution. She could remember the surrounding was not as tense last night or maybe it was because she was too tired to notice. Which would be a likely reason as she managed to skip the welcoming briefing session with one of the staffs.

The air was dense and the weather was gloomy—the whole scene just made her uncomfortable. The eerie set was even firmer when Seohyun decided to go out from her room—she was expecting a cheerful and hectic mass of students but there was hardly someone in the hallway. I cannot be the only student they have in here, right? She tightened her cashmere cardigan as a slight cold air passed through her neck. Seohyun walked along the empty hallway to the stairs, she was going to the staff area. 

Maybe I can find someone there.

A student passed by Seohyun when she was going down on the stairs. Seohyun wanted to say hi but she decided not to. Something’s really not right with this place. Years of living as an age manipulator made her become very sensitive to living forces and the micro living cells within them. The thing that just walked by had none. She put her best guard on and transformed herself into a 7 years old girl.

Mutant ability: Age Manipulation – Seohyun is able to control the aging cells in living organisms, including herself. This includes age acceleration and reversion, which she often employs for her wit disguises. Given her strong mutant pride, Seohyun has been practicing her power for years and this enhances her power stability. With her current ability she is fully capable to control the desired effect and its longevity. Her power also works on some non-living objects that embody the potential to decay such as food.

Weakness: The key of her power is concentration. Although her mutant ability is quite stable at this stage, just like a normal human being, Seohyun’s ability to control her concentration is variable and unpredictable. This is also due to her moody and fickle personality. The impact also depends on the object, aging acceleration on an old person may lead to a homicide. In addition, there are some people or other living organisms that are immune to her power for unknown reasons.
