just yesterday i was thinking about how matt mentioned that vex keeps a black feather in her hair instead of blue when bells hells first met her again and now i'm finding out that vax has three blue feathers on one of his wings...... they keep finding new ways to make the twins more devastating.

I actually quite like that Vax gets one night to spend with Vox Machina, but he gets only that night. He gets respite after his torturous ordeal in the bridge, and gets to spend some time with his loved ones, and they with him, but it's not permanent. And Vax is still noticeably something else, something not quite as he was. Vox Machina's miracle is getting to see him again and spend any time with him, but in the end he's still dead, and must return to the Matron's side in his time.

I love Keyleth and it's entirely in character (and worth discussing further, but I'm on mobile so not now) but that's it, isn't it? Vax isn't paying a debt. He didn't take out a loan; he made a promise. A vow. An oath. He didn't say "I'll serve you for a thousand years"; he said "Take me instead." There's no end date because this isn't a payment, it is a personal commitment.
