As a leader in the fabrication, designs and manufacturing of high-quality aluminum truss and rigging products for the entertainment industry, XSF follows a very stringent and detailed Quality Control Process.  We wanted to provide a video that would help to illustrate our Quality Control Process from the raw aluminum materials of the mill right through to the shrink wrap packaging and shipping.
The process of successfully moving projects from the Design stage to the Packaging and  Shipping stage is key to meeting all customer specifications.  This video outlines the stages all projects must go through to not only ensure the success of the project but also maintain the highest industry product standard XSF has become known for. All Aluminum and Trusses are not created equal. For the best quality product we do not settle for anything less and nor should you!
This video breaks down the XSF Quality Control Process into nine key areas –  Safety and Equipment  |  Fabrication Drawings and Engineering   |  Raw Materials: Receiving and Inspection   |  Precision Cutting and Machining Parts   |  Welding   |  Final Assembly and Test Fit   |  Cleaning and Inspection    |  Coatings and Surface Finishes    |  Identification, Packaging, and Shipping.

“How-To” Truss Video Series
Bolting trusses together or unbolting them apart are simple tasks frequently executed by many.
It is also a task that when done incorrectly can cost thousands of dollars in truss damages. As a result of seeing these damages first hand, we at XSF thought it important to put this short, 1 min video together to illustrate the proper way of bolting aluminum trusses together.
We hope you enjoy this video. If you would like to see more videos like this, visit our YouTube channel and subscribe today.

(Below is a text transcription of this video)
How to bolt trusses together, steel bolts, nuts and washers are typically used to attach two aluminum bolt plate trusses together, two washers are used to protect the aluminum plates from the hex head bolts and nuts. Using the socket wrench, the nut should be tight and snug enough to have no gap between the plates.
The nuts should not be so tight that the steel washers damage the aluminum plates of the truss or cannot be removed with a hand-held wrench. It is important that all bolt truss connections are tight and secure prior to lifting or loading the truss.

20 Years of Truss Innovation
Everyone has a perception of what “added value” is. It may involve a quick math equation we run in our head or perhaps a decision we base on the trust level we have for the sales individual we are dealing with.  “Would you like to get the extended warranty for 3 years on your new stove for $100. ?” or “the upgrade of 128 gigs will not cost that much more” or “have you seen our Wheel and Tire packages?”
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 1.92%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 1.92%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-1{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;}
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-1{width:50% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-1 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-1{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-1 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-1{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-1 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
Have you heard of Add Value Options for Aluminum Truss?
If you are new to XSF Truss and our Product Line you likely have not. Unlike other truss companies, our technicians and engineers are always thinking of new and innovative ways to make trusses better for our customers. “Why does Aluminum Truss have to be as it’s always been, while other industries move forward? ”  That is the exact question president Mike Wells asked himself and his staff 20 years ago and since then, XSF has regularly provided new truss industry innovations.
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2{width:50% !important;margin-top : 40px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-2{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;}
@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-title.fusion-title-1{margin-top:0px!important; margin-right:0px!important;margin-bottom:30px!important;margin-left:0px!important;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-title.fusion-title-1{margin-top:0px!important; margin-right:0px!important;margin-bottom:20px!important; margin-left:0px!important;}}
5 ADDED VALUE CHOICES
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-3{width:100% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-3 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 1.92%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 1.92%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-3{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-3 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-3{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-3 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-3{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;}
ADD-> 5th Chord Add-On
Perhaps you need a certain level of versatility in your truss.  One day, just a basic box truss for productions is fine, but then on occasion, you could really benefit from having the option to hang LED Screens, media devices, display panels, or curtains from a centered and balanced hang point.
Having a truss with a 5th Chord can be a huge multipurpose option.
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-4{width:50% !important;margin-top : 5px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-4 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-4{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-4 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-4{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-4 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-5{width:50% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-5 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-5{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-5 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-5{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-5 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-4{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;}
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-7{width:50% !important;margin-top : 0px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-7 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-7{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-7 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-7{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-7 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
ADD-> The Integrated Rig Point
If there was an option that is a real “no brainer” it likely is the Integrated Rig Point.  Why?  It saves time and money.
The IRP is a heavy-duty aluminum, integrated rig bar that provides an engineered rig point with a 1-ton load rating at each panel point within the truss.
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-8{width:50% !important;margin-top : 5px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-8 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-8{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-8 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-8{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-8 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}
.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-6{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;}
ADD-> Protective Bolt Plate Truss
In a world where we need to limit waste, XSF set out with the objective to simply reduce truss damage.  There are 100s of ways trusses can be damaged but the number one way is being dropped.  With PBP truss we have massively reduced this problem.
With a minimal amount of increase to the truss weight, XSF has a custom fit plate that protects the chord ends and also provides more truss span strength.
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-10{width:50% !important;margin-top : 5px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-10 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-10{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-10 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-10{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-10 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}

.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-8{ padding-top : 0px;margin-top : 0px;padding-right : 0px;padding-bottom : 0px;margin-bottom : 0px;padding-left : 0px;}

ADD-> ConneX | The Indexable Forkends
Understandably, not all different types of truss will fit and connect together.  Having a vertical forkend truss meeting a vertical fork will not work?  Unless, you have the Connex Indexable Forkend.
You can literally change the fork end configuration in less than 3 seconds. BOOM! Done.
.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-14{width:50% !important;margin-top : 5px;margin-bottom : 20px;}.fusion-builder-column-14 > .fusion-column-wrapper {padding-top : 0px !important;padding-right : 0px !important;margin-right : 3.84%;padding-bottom : 0px !important;padding-left : 0px !important;margin-left : 3.84%;}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-14{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-14 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px) {.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-14{width:100% !important;order : 0;}.fusion-builder-column-14 > .fusion-column-wrapper {margin-right : 1.92%;margin-left : 1.92%;}}

CHOOSE -> Your Truss and Forkend

Aluminum Truss is Amazing Stuff.
It’s tough, lightweight and incredibly useful for lighting, staging, construction, and more. When handled properly, truss can last a lifetime.
In spite of this, truss product damages are inevitable and still happen.

 XSF has not only passed the base qualifications for truss strength, but has completely blown the standard out of the water!

Criss Angel Mindfreak Staging and Truss 2019-2020
When people think of the best magician and illusionist on the planet, Criss Angel, is often the first that comes to mind. The Mindfreak himself, has now brought his exciting Rock and Roll brand of magic to Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
This 2019/2020 Criss Angel, Mindfreak Show captivates and excites audience members in a way not seen since Harry Houdini walked the planet.
The show boasts over 75 mind-bending illusions with hair raising, state of the art effects.  XSF is proud to have been involved and helped create such an amazing show.

“There are over 900 linear feet of truss over the audience with over a half a billion pixels of video.”
“There is only one truss company I could trust to make this all work and that’s XSFTruss!”
Criss Angel, Mindfreak, Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas
The Staging and Custom Truss for Mindfreak, Criss Angel
The show is described as a “technological marvel, designed to overload your senses and support Criss Angel’s visionary magic”. As one would expect, this Mindfreak Show came with several technical challenges and innovations that required a high level of detail and precision.
There is a lot of truss in this show, some is above the audience, some on stage, and some off. With that said, one unique aspect of this show was simply the variety of sizes and custom truss required for different reasons and purposes. While 100’s of feet of 20.5” x 20.5” truss was used in horizontal spans and vertical columns on and off stage, XSF also created a “never built before custom ”12” high by 6” wide truss,  for use over head to carry above-average weight capacities.
Completely powder coated black, the star truss of this show is the 9 “fingers” of truss and video panels that span from front of stage to back of house. Each truss span is approximately 50 feet long and supports ½ meter X ½ meter LED Video over the audience.

TRUSS SPANS with LED Video Panels
As the design lead, Vice President Mark of XSF describes the finger trusses.
“The theater has structural areas that date back to when the Hotel was the Aladdin. Knowing this,  there are always interesting nuances that make us work a little harder and think a little smarter. A unique challenge with these particular, over audience truss spans was there were very tight tolerances required. The truss needed to taper down to a very low trim height at the back of house which required a minimum height  truss. Adding to this challenge it was concluded that the truss fingers needed to be all independent and have articulating fingers which would allow technicians to work on the video panels from the floor rather than utilizing fall protection. This is a big safety feature for the show.
The hoist are primarily CM Loadstars and Prostars.
If you’re looking to get dazzled on your next visit to Las Vegas drop into Planet Hollywood and take in the Criss Angel Show, you will not be disappointed.

XSF Truss at Pier 17 in NYC
As many local New Yorkers know, South Street Seaport has undergone a bit of change recently. After lengthy construction, the historic Pier 17, which previously consisted of a dark red warehouse-style building, has received a modern upgrade. The new Pier 17 now plays host to a variety of bars, restaurants, and most notably, a rooftop concert venue.
To celebrate its stunning remodel, Pier 17 is throwing an inaugural concert series that will run from July 28th through October 12th. The lineup includes modern acts such as Kings of Leon and deadmau5, classic artists such as Michael McDonald and Gladys Knight, and even comedians including Amy Schumer and Trevor Noah. No matter your musical or performance tastes, this summer concert series is sure to offer something for everyone. Better still, every show will take place under the open sky of the rooftop venue, meaning that each concert will feature the stunning backdrop of the East River, Brooklyn Bridge, and Brooklyn skyline.
Truss supplied by XSF Truss, engineering by Clark-Reder and the entire install by Mountain Productions, this temporary rooftop truss system was not without its challenges. Obviously the greatest difficulty is transporting, moving and assembling this wonderful structure on a roof!

“All the pieces of this structure travel to a rooftop location, and thanks to XSF’s  expertise everything fit like a glove, went together perfectly and with ease.”
Jeffrey Reder, Clark and Reder Engineering
One of the biggest advantages that XSF offers in a job like this is the ability to do Test Fit. Having a large and high roof aluminum fabrication facility allows customer assurance that everything will fit together and work properly before it even gets to its destination. The onsite fabrication and assembly of big jobs offers everyone piece of mind, especially on projects with tight time lines.
STAGE SPECS
The completed performance space features a 60’ X  25’ roof system truss with a 27’ trim. One of the unique feature of this temporary truss roof system is  a 12-foot downstage. To increase stage and the scenic visibility,  there are 4, 34’ towers only 6 feet apart that flank the entire setup.
When at capacity, the Pier 17 rooftop venue can hold anywhere from 2,400 people sitting to 3,400 standing. If you plan to be in the lower Manhattan area this summer, a concert atop the brand new open-air venue that now adorns Pier 17 is sure to be an unforgettable treat.
With a great summer performance lineup and a stunning view of New York’s iconic architecture, this rooftop paradise has all the right ingredients for a fantastic summer. For additional information, visit the official Pier 17 website to check out their full offering as well as the complete summer rooftop concert schedule.

XSF Modular Truss Systems
Modular Truss Systems
The XSF Modular Truss Systems are a versatile solution, perfect for Trade shows, Lighting Displays, DJ’s Booths, and more.
The truss components consist of XSF standard 12”x12” Utility Truss with either our classic bolt plates or our new Protective Bolt Plates.  XSF standard 24”x24” base plates support the columns and a lightweight custom rafter package quickly adapts to the various booth sizes.  A highly durable PVC material is used for the canopy top and can enhanced with custom colors, printing or logo designs for all 4 booth sizes.
Using the components provided this modular system can be used to create the following structures:

To increase flexibility of use, the modular truss system height can be modified as well. By changing out the columns you can match most overhead requirements at Tradeshows concerts, and events both indoor and outdoor.
If your booth is to be used in an outdoor application, engineering, guy cables and ballast can be provided by XSF.  Transport is easy and these modular truss booths can be quickly and safely erected with a small crew of only a few people.
