          "A newspaper editor?" Laurraine questioned with her eyebrows lifted in a mixture of curiosity and surprise. In fact, she wasn't even sure why in the world she would be surprised of finding out that the man before her edited newspapers as a job. Although, maybe it was more of since she had never met someone with that sort of occupation. 

          When the drinks arrived, she gladly took hers from Elliot with a hint of a smile and the words of a thank you just as they both walked to the exit. The breeze seemed to be blowing mildly outside, and so, she was feeling a little thankful for the warmth between her hands.

          "Oh, yeah," She answered with a bob of her head, "Chase down suspects, beat the information out of them... y'know, the usual," No, they didn't beat the suspects. She was only joking, of course. But then again, her tone of voice perceived of one who was casually telling the truth.

    “That’s still crazy,” he commented, ready to go on a tangent. “I’ve seen those shows, and it still doesn’t seem all that glorious.” He shrugged. “But what do I know; I edit newspapers for a living.” Well during the day; his nighttime job was a little different.

    About this time their drink orders finally were placed on the counter, at which point Elliot took them, gave Raine hers, and left the bad barista a two dollar tip. He believed in karma, and being disdainful toward a dick like him would bring bad karma upon him.

    Or that was how he saw it.

    Outside, he asked, “Is there the part where you run off to fight crime or—”

"Well, you know where to find her," The assassin leaned back onto the back rest of her seat with the shrug of her shoulders and the fold of her arms just below her chest. He was right, she had lost weight and it was safe to say that she hadn't actually slept properly ever since becoming the new Listener. The sudden weight on her shoulders had almost bothered her endlessly, which she knew shouldn't but they were still there. And so she sighed and attempted to hide her fatigue behind a small smile.

"Really? I'm pretty sure I've been eating... and sleeping. A lot, in fact, to the point where I might lose my reputation of one of the best," she lied through her teeth with the scrunch of her nose -- a joking-slash-sarcastic habit she had. Although, Raine had felt a little happy to a certain extent knowing that the other had noticed that some things were off, because during those days, she had slight difficulty to do so. "Hm... you should. Some of the members might mistaken you for a woman and start hitting on you."

Silence my brother.... || closed

Erisidr nodded and took it tucking the pouch away his brown eyes flickering to the door after a moment “I’ll stay for a few days before moving on again, Babette has some herbs in her garden that i need for a new poison” the hand that wasn’t gripping his staff lifted to itch the back of his head thoughtfully he kept his opinions to himself before saying absentmindedly “You’ve lost weight, and you look like you haven’t slept in weeks” setting his staff to the side as he so rarely did. 

Movin forward he stood and placed a weathered hand on the desk, the cold distant look in his eyes had vanished to reveal concern in his liquid brown orbs. He hadn’t cut his black hair in months and so it hung down in the way of his vision a little, his black fuzzy eyebrows hidden behind the black hair. His hand lifted from the desk to push his hair out from his face with slight annoyance “I need to spend the time to get a hair cut…”

          Raine had stared at the stranger for                     a good long second, thinking of                     her next response all while                      pondering whether he was                      mocking her in a way. Nevertheless,                     she tilted her slightly to her right                     with her brows furrowing together.                     "Now what?"

          "Well when I do say it like that, I guess                     I do have a point.” He would wait                     for her to continue with talking so                     as not to interrupt her. "Okay. We                     can push the apologies away                     for the time being. It’s a shared                     blame. And yes. I did run into                     you.”

          Raine laughed at his reply as her arms snaked around his neck. "Just one kiss?" She mockingly asked in a high pitched tone and a hint of an English accent, "Why, Mr. Kennedy... that's a little unfair, don't you think?"

              Leon chuckles softly and smiles, his lips mirroring hers as they curl up. In all honesty, he didn’t know where the urge to kiss her came from, it was just… A spur of the moment as he said earlier. But maybe he wouldn’t mind doing it again.

            “Mm…well maybe next time I’ll make it longer.                            But you only get one kiss for now.”

Sentence Starters { Protective Version }

The words struck her hard, every inch of her annoyance gone within a blink of an eye. She had been on the verge of exasperation with each moment passing by her as she attempted to convince the other to let her go finish some business that may or may not cost her life. And as much as she didn’t want to do so, she had to in order to fulfil her life’s purpose.

Revenge for her father’s murder.

However, a small but sad smile had crept upon her face as she took a step towards Leon, a hand gently placed upon his cheek. She was quiet for those seconds, her own feelings being conveyed through her dark hazel hues. The man before her… she had never imagined falling for him. And yet there he was, the only thing that was stopping her from insanity and going after the one who had killed her father. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but she cursed at herself for letting the feelings dwell within her until they grew into something she couldn’t believe she had.

          “Leon… you’re not going to lose me. I’m coming back, I promise,” the statement — the promise — had escaped her lips before she could stop them. And so, from then on, she had only hoped to keep her word.
