This comes up because a male friend is posting on Facebook about all the things he’s introducing his new girlfriend to. She’s “gee whiz” about everything, and very wide-eyed, but all I can think is, “man, you two have nothing in common, do you”.
And it’s always the guy bringing the girl into *their* world. Not vice versa. They don’t ever enter the woman’s world. They usually hang out with *his* friends, and he introduces her to *his* hobbies. In some ways, it often works out better than if he found a woman from his own social group, because the “golly gee whiz” wide eyed stranger is never, ever going to be competition. She’s never going to ever threaten the guy’s status as alpha geek/sports fan/etc.
I don’t think heterosexuals are even aware that they do this. These are some of the most “feminist ally” identified guys I’ve known. They’re not self-aware enough to recognize how gendered the dynamics in their relationships are.

Men are constantly trying to discredit feminists in a few different ways. One of the main ones is by claiming that “men have it bad too”. Usually this will be done right after a woman describes an issue that affects not only her, but a statistically significant percentage of women.
Discussing how the injustice system unfairly treats women will inevitably lead to a man claiming a personal story about something bad that happened to him or another man that he knows. For example, recently when discussing why my rapist isn’t in jail, an acquaintance brought up that the courts are unjust against men, because his father was screwed over in divorce court. So I ask him how’s that? And he responds by saying that his father got stuck in traffic for 45 minutes and was unable to appear in court and thus lost the case.
In this instance, getting stuck in traffic was the reason he lost, not some kind of societal prejudice against men. He described a personal problem in response to me describing a problem that affects a statistically large number of raped women who do not report their rape because there is no way to prosecute.
Another common thing they will do is come up with the most ridiculous out of this world scenario that squarely places blame on women. For example, when women discuss abortion rights and birth control, it’s common to see men respond with “men should have a right to a say in whether she gets an abortion” and then for the reason why, they’ll come up with some wild scenario where a woman tricks a man in to impregnating her by poking holes in condoms or lying about being on the pill.
There are a lot of social problems that giving women bodily autonomy and the choice to abort can solve. Legal abortion has lowered crime rates, for example. Also, women should have the right to control their own bodies.
But men are afraid of this extremely rare occurrence that probably happens less than once a year because, seriously, who fucking wants to trick a man in to getting you pregnant? If it does happen this kind of thing would be the example of a personal problem, not a societal problem.
That’s the main differences between feminists and the men who oppose us: we talk about facts and reality and statistics, and they talk about abstract scenarios they made up in their heads or one off stories that don’t represent a statistically relevant group.

Apparently, "Fight Like A Girl" is trademarked.
… and some group is going around sending DMCA notices to those who use the phrase on their artwork. Is this a troll? I truly don’t understand. These jerks have absolutely no relation to my artwork other than a VERY POPULAR phrase. I am truly upset. Here is my artwork:
Tumblr media
… after contacting Redbubble as to why my artwork was removed… I received this response:
Tumblr media
I searched up TSDC, LLC and found this company’s Facebook page:
Tumblr media
My artwork says “Fight Like A Girl”. Not “Fight Like A Girl Club” or “Fight Like A Girl Foundation”. How is it that they can have power over such a universal phrase? I’m feeling absolutely gutted that such a powerful message is being trademarked… I get it’s for cancer. I truly do. However, to take away such a universal and empowering message to dedicate to one single cause is just … unfair, to say the least. I don’t know what to do ;_; UPDATE: they HAVE actually trademarked the phrase “Fight Like A Girl”. End this. Now.

pro tip: if you’re with people whose understanding of a movie or show is benefited by captions or subtitles and you’re about to watch a DVD that has captions, it makes you a huge asshole to tell them “but captions are annoying!!”
it’s pretty fucking annoying to not understand what’s being said in the movie because some asshole refused to turn on captions
