I love the Qsmpblr server bc there will be a 10+ minute long talk with a dozen ppl in chat abt the origins of soda while I’m seeing Grace spawn in dinosaurs in the chat

cellbit replacing "failure means losing your son forever" with "failure means losing everything" is soooooo. well it's so much. bc the knowledge guide phrase is "to know everything is to lose everything" which has already come up for him several times and it's just so perfect for him, the embodiment of seeking knowledge to his own detriment.

and even aside from that comparison, thinking about cellbit viewing losing richas as losing everything really is devastating and, it turns out, was true!!! he lost richas and felt like nothing could be right without him, like he couldn't be the person he'd made himself to be. he couldn't find out anything about the eggs' disappearance, he could only wallow in the knowledge that he could do nothing, that the skills he'd honed and was so proud of were nothing in the face of this. losing richas was like losing himself and everything he thought he understood, because he couldn't be the person he thought he was anymore.

and truly what is more devastating than looking at your son and saying "it says i'll lose everything" when what you really mean is "i'll lose you, and that would destroy me."
